A digital system for bioimpedance and electrical impedance tomography (EIT) measurement controlled by an ATmega16 microcontroller was constructed in our laboratory. There are eight digital electrodes using AD5933 to measure the impedance of the targets, and the data is transmitted to the computer wirelessly through nRF24L01. The structure of the system, circuit design, system testing, vitro measurements of animals' tissues and electrical impedance tomography are introduced specifically in this paper. The experimental results showed that the system relative error was 0.42%, and the signal noise ratio was 76.3 dB. The system not only can be used to measure the impedance by any two electrodes within the frequency of 1-100 kHz in a sweep scanning, but also can reconstruct the images of EIT. The animal experiments showed that the data was valid and plots were fitting with Cole-Cole theory. The testing verified the feasibility and effectiveness of the system. The images reconstructed of a salt-water tank are satisfactory and match with the actual distribution of the tank. The system improves the effectiveness of the front-end measuring signal and the stability of the system greatly.

AIM:To investigate the effect of quercetin on the biological functions of rat bone marrow-derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) and its potential mechanisms.METHODS:The bone marrow-derived mononuclear cells of Sprague-Dawley rats were isolated by density gradient centrifugation. The differentiated EPCs were cultured specially and stained with DiI-Ac-LDL and FITC-UEA-1.CD133+ and FLK-1+ were detected on the cell surfaces. After 14 d, the EPCs were incubated with a PI3K inhibitor BYL719 (3 μmol/L) and an ERK inhibitor FR180204 (15 μmol/L).After incubation of the inhibitors for 2 h, the cells were treated with quercetin at different concentrations (0, 10, 20, 40, 80 and 100 μmol/L).MTT assay and Transwell assay were used to detect cell viability and the number of migratory cells. The protein levels of AKT, eNOS, ERK and their phosphorylated status were determined by Western blot.RESULTS:Quercetin enhanced the viability and migration of the EPCs at a dose-dependent manner. However, the PI3K inhibitor BYL719 suppressed the QUE-induced cell viability and migration. Moreover, ERK inhibitor FR180204 exerted the similar inhibitory effect on the cell viability but had no effect on cell migration.Quercetin activated the phosphorylation of AKT, eNOS and ERK.On the other hand, BYL719 was observed to inhibit the phosphorylation of AKT and ERK.FR180204, however, was showed to inhibit the phosphorylation of ERK only.On the contrast, the stimulatory effects that quercetin exerted on the expression of eNOS and its phosphorylation were suppressed by BYL719 and FR180204.CONCLUSION:Quercetin stimulates the viability and migration of EPCs via PI3K/AKT/eNOS and ERK/eNOS signaling pathway, which would be beneficial for cardiovascular health.

Objective: To compare the efifcacy and safety of sirolimus-eluting stent (SES) and everolimus-eluting stent (EES) for treating the patients with non-ST segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). Methods: A total of 400 NSTE-ACS patients treated in Jining Medical College Hospital from 2013-09 to 2014-09 were studied. According to different stents, the patients were divided into 2 groups: SES group,n=220 and EES group,n=180. A prospective follow-up study was conducted for 1.5 years to compare the incidence rate of major adverse cardiovascular events (MACE). The patients were further stratiifed by GRACE scores as Low risk group (score<109), Medium risk group (score 109-140) and High risk group (score>140). MACE free survival was studied by Kaplan-Meier curve and analyzed by Long-rank test, predictive value of GRACE for 1.5 year MACE incidence rate was examined. Results: There were 355/400 (89%) patients completed (16.7 ± 5.7) months of follow-up study including 205 in SES group and 150 in EES group. MACE occurrence rates were similar between SES group and EES group (16.10% vs 18.0%), P>0.05. By GRACE score stratiifcation, MACE rates in High risk SES group were higher than High risk EES group (48.00%vs 16.00%),P<0.05; while they were similar between Medium risk groups (14.49% vs 28.00%) and Low risk groups (9.11% vs 12.86%), allP>0.05. ROC curve indicated that the predictive value of GRACE score for 1.5 year MACE incidence was for AUC=0.762, 95% CI (1.026-1.050),P<0.001. Conclusion: Implanting of EES would be more beneifcial for NSTE-ACS patients with high GRACE risk; GRACE score has the better predictive value for their long-term prognosis.

Objective:To investigate the predictive value of visceral adipose tissue (VAT) in occult peritoneal metastasis (OPM) of gastric cancer. Methods:A total of 93 patients with gastric cancer admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University from October 2018 to October 2021 were retrospectively collected. None of the patients had typical peritoneal metastasis on CT. Patients were divided into OPM group (31 cases) and non-OPM group (62 cases) according to laparoscopic exploration. The clinical, pathological and CT features were recorded. The parameters related to adipose tissue (VAT and subcutaneous adipose tissue) within the range of 15 mm and 25 mm below the largest layer of gastric cancer lesions in preoperative CT images were measured, including the volume, average CT attenuation and standard deviation. The independent-sample t test, Wilcoxon rank-sum test, χ 2 test or Fisher′s exact probability were used to compare the clinical, pathological and CT imaging parameters between OPM and non-OPM groups. Multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to explore the independent risk factors for OPM of gastric cancer and establish a combined model. The receiver operating characteristic curve was used to evaluate the efficacy of each indicator and the combined model in predicting OPM of gastric cancer. Results:There were statistically significant differences in age, pathological type, CA125, ascites, cT stage, the thickest diameter of lesion, average CT attenuation of 15 mm VAT and 25 mm VAT between the OPM group and the non-OPM group ( P<0.05). Multivariate analysis showed that ascites, cT stage and average CT attenuation of 25 mm VAT were independent risk factors for OPM of gastric cancer, with the OR (95%CI) of 4.940 (1.287-18.967), 4.284 (1.270-14.455), and 1.149 (1.013-1.303), respectively. A combined model was established. The area under the curve (AUC) of ascites, cT stage, average CT attenuation of 25 mm VAT, average CT attenuation of 15 mm VAT and combined model were 0.685, 0.718, 0.703, 0.674 and 0.813, respectively. There were statistically significant differences in AUC between the combined model and each four single indicators above ( Z=2.98, 2.63, 2.09, 2.54, P=0.003, 0.009, 0.037, 0.011). Conclusions:The ascites, cT stage and average CT attenuation of 25 mm VAT are independent risk factors for OPM in gastric cancer. The combined model based on the above three indicators has the best performance in predicting OPM in gastric cancer.

OBJECTIVE The N-methyl-D-aspartate(NMDA)receptor has been shown to be strongly associ-ated with rapid antidepressant effects.GW043 is a com-pound with a novel structure that we designed and syn-thesized to act on the NMDA receptor(NMDAR).METH-ODS In this study,we first confirmed the target of GW043 using a receptor binding assay. We observed the effect of GW043 on NMDAR currents in vivo and in vitro assays using a membrane clamp technique with a view to characterizing the function of GW043.We investi-gated the antidepressant effect of GW043 in rodent behavioral models such as FST,TST and CUMS.Fur-thermore,we explored the mechanism of GW043 onset using Western blotting,BrdU staining,Golgi staining and electrophysiological techniques.RESULTS GW043 interacts with high affinity only at the NMDAR.Electro-physiological studies have indicated that GW043 is a par-tial agonist of NMDAR.Meanwhile, behavioral experi-ments were conducted to confirm the antidepressant effect of GW043 in rodents. The mechanism study found that GW043 regulate synaptic plasticity through LTP and BDNF/mTOR pathways and increase the number of new-born neurons to cause antidepressant effects.GW043,a partial agonist of NMDAR,reversed depression-like behav-ior in rats by modulating synaptic plasticity, suggesting an antidepressant effect.CONCLUSION The results suggest that GW043 is a partial agonist of NMDA recep-tors and has significant antidepressant effects.
