1.A Case of Laurence-Moon-Biedl Syndrome.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1975;16(1):85-88
A case of Laurence-Moon-Biedl Syndrome in 13-year-old Korean boy was reported with some clinical observation. Visual disturbance and night blindness were his chief complaints for about 3 years prior to visit our hospital. Visual acuity was 0.4 (O.S.,N.C.), 0.15 (O.D.,N.C.) and peripheral visual field was concentrically constricted with 30 degrees (0.5.), 15 degrees (O.D.). He had the atypical pigmentary retinal degeneration (O.D.) associated with obesity, polydactyly, mental retardation, hypogenitalism and macular degeneration (O.D.), but coudn't found the hereditary occurrence.

3.3 Cases of Orbital Tumor.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1975;16(1):66-72
3 cases of orbital tumors were presented, which were confined respectively as papillary adenocarcinoma, pseudotumor and mixed tumor in the histopathological findings. CASE 1: Papillary adenocarcinoma had been noticed in the left eye of a 66-year-old woman from about 4 months previously. Visual acuity was 0(O.D.), 0.3(1.2)(O.S.) and left eye ball was almost protruded out of the orbit. There was a coin-lesion, which was considered metastatic lesion from the eye, in the right upper lung field. Evisceration of the orbit which was almostly destroyed was performed successfully. No incidence of recurrence can be disclosed untill now, 16 months after surgery, and lost in follow up. CASE 2: Pseudotumor was developed in the left eye of a 33-year-old male. Visual acuity was 0.06(O.S), 1.2(O.D.). Severe choked disc and optic nerve atrophy were showed. Exophthalmometry: 24mm(0.5.), 18mm(0.D.). It was necessitated evisceration of the orbit because of the tumor was placed in the almost entire orbital space. Follow up study were impossibJe. CASE 3: In the left eye of a 51-year-old woman, mixed tumor had been developed from about 8 years previously. Visual acuity was 1.0(O.S.) and F.L.P.(O.D.), exophthalmometry: 13mm(O.U.). Surgical removal was successful and lost in follow up.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1989;30(6):1031-1035
Complicated microphthalmos can be diagnosed when a reduction in global dimension is combined with other structural anomalies. These include corneal opacity or staphyloma, cataract, aniridia, corectopia, persistence of pupillary membrane or the tunica vasculosa lentis and hyaloid vessel, thickening or ossification of the choroid and various retinal anomalies. Complicated microphthalmos is frequently hereditary and the transmission may be either as an autosomal dominant or recessive or as a sex linked recessive trait. Four cases of bilateral complicated microphthalmos with cataract were found in a family.

7.Clinical Studies on Hyphema in The Complications of Cataract Extraction.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1977;18(4):319-322
The history of surgical treatment of cataract extends back at least Before Christ. In 1748 Jacques Daviel, French ophthalmic surgeon, was attempted to cataract extraction with modern operating techniques and since then development of operation methods, techniques and instruments were contributed to recovery of the loss of vision. Although the occurrence of during and postoperative complications of cataract extraction diminish, cataract complications still remain troublesome in the minds of cataract operators. The authors reported the result of hyphema in the many complications of cataract extraction for the 7 of the 47 eyes(42 cases), which were operated from January 1976 to August 1977, using the sex, types of cataract, age, methods of operation, onset and procedure.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1989;30(6):911-919
From February 1986 to October 1988, 125 cases of planned ECCE with posterior chamber lens implantation were performed in Chosun University Hospital, and they had been followed up for more than 6 months. The results were as follows: 1. In the 125 cases of posterior chamber lens implantation, the number of patients were 87 male and 38 female. The most prevalent age groups were age 50s to 60s for both men and women. 2. Posterior chamber lens power ranged from +17.0D to +22.5D and the most frequently used posterior chamber lens power was from +19.0D to +20.0D(83 eyes, 66.4% of 125 cases) in both male and female. 3. Postoperative corrected vision with posterior chamber lens was improved up to 0.6 or better in 87.5%. 4. The mean spherical equivalent o final postoperative refractive state was observed in - 0.75 +/- 1.54D. 5. Postoperative complications were pupil distortion(12.8%), increased intraocular pressure(4.0%), tilted chamber lens(4.0%), cystoid macular edema(2.4%) and after-cataract(1.6%).

9.The Clinical Survey of the Ocular Injuries by Traffic Accidents.
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1974;15(4):342-345
Authors analysed clinically 44 patients (57 eyes) of the ocular injuries by traffic accidents among 333 In-patients who admitted to Han Gang Sacred Heart Hospital from Jan. 1972 to June 1974. 1. The incidence of ocular injuries by traffic accidens was 13.2% of all admitted patients. 2. Male (64%) was two times as much as female among the patients and they were m03tly belong to 2nd and 3rd decade. 3. The incidence of site was 41% in left eye. 4. The seasonal distribution showed that 48% of traffic accidents occurred in spring. 5. External ocular injuries; laceration or ecchymosis of lid, subconjunctival hemorrhage, and corneal laceration, were predominant (52%). 6. Ocular injuries which were combined with head trauma or facial laceration were 64% and 19% in single ocular injury. 7. The visual acuity of lower than 0.1 was 29.5% of all injured eyes.

10.Effectiveness of Washing Nasolacrimal Duct as an Additional Therapy after Dacryocystorhinostomy.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2000;41(11):2308-2312
The surgical methods for the obstruction of nasolacrimal duct include conventional dacryocystorhinostomy and nasal endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy. The authors followed 52 eyes of 54 patients who had undergone conventional or endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy to compare the surgical success rate, between the group whose nasolacrimal duct was washed with normal saline and the control group without irrigation. Nasal cavity of all patients were examined for the abnormalities such asnasal septal deviation, hypertropy of middle concha, ethmoid sinusitis and nasal polyp. The patients with those abnormalities were excluded. There was significant difference between the two groups, showing better outcome in the group with nasal irrigation. These results suggest that washing NLD after the dacryocystorhinostomy may be effective as an additional therapy to enhance the success rate of operation.
