Objective To analyze the peri-procedural complications of coronary rotational atherectomy. Methods A total of 107 consecutive patients with coronary artery disease received rotational atherectomy from January 2012 to December 2016 were enrolled retrospectively. The occurrence rate and the management of peri-procedural complications were summarized. Results ① The serum level of CK-MB and cTnI in patients who received rotational atherectomy were signifi cantly elevated compared with the level before the procedure,[4.1(2.4-14.1)U/L vs.1.5(1.0-2.1)U/L,P<0.001]and[0.28(0.11-1.11)ng/ml vs.0.01 (0.01-0.02) ng/ml, P<0.001], respectively. Of the 107 target lesions, 104 (97.2%) were classifi ed as type B2 or C lesions.②Peri-procedural complications of coronary rotational atherectomy occurred in 21 patients (19.6%). There were 5 cases (4.7%) of coronary slow fl ow, 1 case (0.9%) of severe coronary spasm, 9 cases (8.4%) of coronary dissection after rotational atherectomy and 1 case (0.9%) of side branch occlusion. Six patients (5.6%) had severe sinus bradycardia, but only 1 patient required temporary pacemaker. Burr entrapment happened in 2 patients (1.9%). Peripheral vascular complications occurred in 2 patients (1.9%) with 1 case of femoral artery hematoma at puncture site and the other 1 case of mediastinal hematoma. One patient (0.9%) developed contrast induced nephropathy after the procedure. ③All the peri-procedural complications of rotational atherectomy were benign. The procedure instant success rate was 98.1%, with no acute or sub-acute stent thrombosis, cardiac death, emergent coronary artery bypass graft occurred during hospitalization. Conclusions The complications associated with coronary rotational atherectomy are not rare, but severe complications are not common. The procedure could be safely performed with a high instant success rate.

BACKGROUNDAlthough the first leading cause of death in China was malignant neoplasms (mortality, 374.1 per 100,000 person-years), the full impact of primary brain tumors (PBT) on the healthcare system is not completely described because there are a few well documented reports about the epidemiologic features of brain tumors. This study aimed to report a comprehensive assessment on the prevalence of PBT.

METHODSA multicenter cross-sectional study on brain tumor (MCSBT) in China was initiated in five regional centers: Daqing (northeast), Puyang (north of China), Shiyan (center of China), Ma'anshan (center of China) and Shanghai (southeast). Prevalence rate was calculated by counting the number of people living with a PBT between October 1, 2005 and September 30, 2006 and dividing by the total population of the five communities at January 1, 2006. Estimates of prevalence were expressed as percentages and grouped according to gender and to age in fifteen-year categories. Within these strata, the rates were estimated with 95% confidence intervals (CI) using the accurate calculation of CI for Poisson distribution. A chi-square test was used to compare the various frequencies with α < 0.05. Age-standardized prevalence with the direct method was calculated with the ten-year age-specific prevalence and the age distribution of the Chinese population in 2010, obtained from World population prospects: the 2008 revision.

RESULTSWe estimated that the overall prevalence of PBT was 24.56 per 100,000 (95%CI, 14.85 to 34.27), and the overall prevalence of PBT in female population (30.57 per 100,000 and its 95%CI ranged from 19.73 to 41.41) was higher than that in male population (18.84 per 100,000 and its 95%CI ranged from 10.33 to 27.35). However, the discrepancy between genders was not statistically significant because the 95%CI overlapped. Of 272 cases of newly diagnosed PBT, the proportion of histological subtypes by age groups, gender was statistically different (χ(2) = 52.6510, P < 0.0001). More than half of all reported tumors (52.57%) were either gliomas or meningiomas. For the youngest (aged from 0 - 19) strata of the population, glioma appeared to occur more than other subtypes, accounting for 55.56% of all of cases. The majority of brain tumors presented in those aged from 20 to 59 years was pituitary adenomas (45.12%) and gliomas (31.10%). Opposed to brain tumors in adults and teenage, gliomas only accounted for 22.22%. Meanwhile, the median ages at diagnosis of the patients with PBT were similar between males and females except for pituitary adenomas (male: 59 years old; female: 45 years old).

CONCLUSIONSAge standardized prevalence of PBT is 22.52 per 100,000 (95%CI, 13.22 to 31.82) for all populations, 17.64 per 100,000 (95%CI, 9.41 to 25.87) for men, and 27.94 per 100,000 (95%CI, 17.58 to 38.30) for women. Age standardization to China's 2010 population yielded an estimated population of 304 954 cases with PBT. Our prevalence estimates provide a conservative basis on which to plan health care services and to develop programmatic strategies for surviving. In the future, it would be helpful to have long-term observed survival rates that would make the assumptions and the resulting imprecision in the current estimates unnecessary.

The Nrf2-Keap1-ARE pathway is an important signaling axis that functions to protect cells against oxidative stress and harmful chemicals through the induction of cytoprotective genes. The maintenance and protective role of Nrf2 pathway has been recognized as a means for chemoprevention. On the other hand, constitutive activation of Nrf2, due to somatic mutations of genes that control Nrf2 degradation, promotes carcinogenesis and imparts chemoresistance to cancer cells. Autophagy is another tightly regulated complex cellular process that functions as a cellular quality control system to remove damaged proteins or organelles. Recently, these two cellular pathways were shown to intersect through the direct interaction between p62 (an autophagy adaptor protein) and Keap1. Dysregulation of autophagy was shown to result in prolonged activation of Nrf2 in a p62-dependent manner, which is associated with the pathogenesis and therapies of several human diseases including cancer. In this review, we discuss the molecular mechanisms of p62-mediated Nrf2 signaling pathway, with a special emphasis on their impact on nervous system disease, cardiovascular disease and cancer.

OBJECTIVETo explore the risk factors and their differences of metabolic syndrome (MS) on male criminal police, thereby provide the scientific basis to make prevention and control strategies about the metabolic syndrome for the criminal police career.

METHODSBased on physical examination data of criminal police in 2010, 439 patients with MS (CDS) were randomly selected as cases. And as the 1:2 matched nested case-control study, 878 health controls were employed, which were matched with on the basis of sex and age (±1 year). An face-to-face epidemiological investigations on the past exposure status of several possible risk factors was conducted, such as the family history of hypertension and other social economic status, as well as body height and weight, waist circumference, blood pressure, serum lipid and plasma sugar. and the data were analyzed with logistic regression.

RESULTS1317 cases were surveyed, through single factor logistic regression analysis found that 12 factors are related to exposure. Multivariate logistic regression analysis suggested that six factors, such as stress events (OR = 1.989, 95%CI: 1.467∼2.696), snoring (OR = 1.672, 95%CI: 1.218∼2.294), sweets (OR = 0.562, 95%CI: 0.412∼0.766), meat and products (OR = 1.494, 95%CI: 1.065∼2.094), siting after dinner for more than 3 h (OR = 1.399, 95%CI: 1.023∼1.915).

CONCLUSIONSMS has become a important public health problems among criminal police. For their professional special, a series of bad habits , unhealthy life style and psychological problems became important risk factors of MS on criminal police. Targeted prevention and control measures should be taken to reduce the incidence of MS.
