1.Effect of Ginseng Extract on Male Rat Sexual Behavior.
Jin Keun JUNG ; Nack Gyeu CHOI
Korean Journal of Urology 1990;31(2):270-273
Ginseng has been used, as almost panacea in Korea, for poor health, unsatisfactory sexual activity and even infertility from the ancient century. But its precise mechanism of action remains unclear. It is believed that the important physiological action of ginseng is to enhance the activity ot adopting or resisting the unfavorable environment. In this animal study, the model designed for rat sexual behavior, no significant influence on penile reflexes and copulatory behaviors was not shown by the ginseng extract. Only the PEL was much shortened, which means easy recovery from exhaustion or/and refactory phase. It seems, in general, that the ginseng has no effect on sexual activity improvement in normal rat.

2.Transitional Cell Tumor Culture and Chemosensitivity Test: Preliminary Report.
Korean Journal of Urology 1989;30(1):1-6
Usually, tumor stem cells have been assessed functionally in animals with various in vivo transplantation assays or with in vitro colony forming assays. Such studies indicate the tumor stem cell assays can be used to study the properties of tumor stem cells and to delineate the difference in individual sensitivities to chemotherapeutic agents. Over the past year (1987,5-1988,4) we attempted to culture the epithelial tumor cells in laboratory to test the chemosensitivity to Methotrexate, cytarabine, and daunorubicin in different concentrations. The in vitro chemosensitivity of these cells to anticancer drugs was disappointed in much. Only 14% of the cultured cells were inhibited the growth more than 50% in over-all.

3.Changes in Renal Size by Infusion of Contrast Agent and Furosemide.
Korean Journal of Urology 1976;17(4):237-242
Changes in renal size by infusion of contrast agent and furosemide were studied in normal adult kidneys. Renal sizes were measured in simple, 5, 15, 25, and 45 minutes films, in Group I, which was performed IVP with Hypaque and Group II, which was performed IVP with Hypaque and furosemide infusion. 1. Kidney size Simple film : Group I : 12.22+/-0.61cm Group II : 12.19+/-0.75cm 15min. film : Group I : 12.67(0.89%) Group II : 13. 49+/-0.63cm Maximal increase in size : Group I: 0.41cm Group II : 1. 30cm 2. Possible application to unilateral renovascular disease: Enhancement of renal size difference in unilateral renovascular hypertension.

Korean Journal of Urology 1977;18(3):233-239
A clinical observation was made on bladder tumors which were followed up more than 3 years during the period of 21 years and 9 months from January. 1955 to September, 1976. The result obtained were as follows: 1. Thirty three cases of total 428 bladder tumors were followed up more than 3 years giving rate of 7.7%. 2. The sex ratio was 3.1 : 1 with 25 male and 8 female. 3. All of the cases were beyond the second decade. 4. Twenty two cases were admitted to our clinic within 6 months with painless gross hematuria most commonly. 5. Twenty five cases revealed normal upper urinary tract and 11 cases revealed bladder filling defects on IVP 6. Twelve cases involved the lateral walls and 7 cases on trigone. 7. All were the papillary growths and transitional cell type, and 25 cases were Grade I-II. 8. Fourteen cases were recurred within 6 months after first treatment. 9. In the treatment, T. U. R. were performed in 22 cases, total cystectomy with urinary diversion in 9 cases.

5.A Case of Leydig Cell Tumor of Testis in Child.
Korean Journal of Urology 1988;29(5):867-870
Leydig cell tumor of testis is relatively rare, comprising only 1 to 3 percent of all testicular tumors. A 10-year-old boy was admitted to our hospital with right testicular mass and sexual precocity. On physical examination, testicular mass was hard and egg-sized. Under the impression of testicular tumor, inguinal orchiectomy was performed. We report this case with literature review.

Korean Journal of Urology 1977;18(2):185-193
Medullary sponge Kidney is a clinical disease entity, which became apparent only when IVPs are done and may be uncovered when hematuria, urinary infection, nephrocalcinosis or frank stones come under investigation. The treatment is limited to the complications, chiefly infection and calculi. We have experienced 8 cases of medullary sponge kidney from 1964 to 1976, and following data were obtained. 1) Clinically, we observed hypertension in 3, flank pain in 4, gross hematuria in 4, renal calculi or calcification in 6 cases, and positive family history or congenital hemihypertrophy were observed in none. 2) In laboratory findings, anemia was present in 1, azotemia in none, hematuria in 5, proteinuria in 3 and urinary tract infection in 4 cases.

Korean Journal of Urology 1989;30(2):256-261
Ureteral transitional cell papilloma is an uncommon tumor acting similar to malignant tumor. A small percentage of patients with von Recklinghaeusen's syndrome have pheochromocytomas simultaneously. A case of ureteral transitional cell papilloma with protrusion into the bladder in nonfunctioning pheochromocytoma patient associated with von Recklinghaeusen's syndrome developed in a 40 years old is with brief review of literature.

Korean Journal of Urology 1987;28(4):565-568
Mucinous adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis is a extremely rare disease and reported less than 50 cases in literature. This tumor is known to be commonly associated with renal stone, hydronephrosis and pyelonephritis. We report a case of mucinous adenocarcinoma of the renal pelvis in hydronephrotic kidney with multiple renal stones.
