Objective:The protective effects of grape procyanidins (GPC) on free radical induced endothelial cell damage were investigated. Methods:Human umbilical vein vascular endothelial cells (ECV304) were cultured in GPC of different doses. Oxidative injury was caused by Fenton system, and MTT method was used to test cell proliferation when cells were cultured 12, 24, 36, 48 h, respectively, MDA and SOD in cells were also determinated 30 min after Fenton system was added. Results: GPC protected cell proliferation damage induced by OH. When GPC doses increased, the protective effects were . enhanced, while MDA level and apoptosis rate of 100?g/ml GPC group both decreased (P

AlM: To observe the early tear film changes after trabeculectomy using Keratograph 5M.METHODS:Fourty-one patients (46 eyes) of glaucoma who underwent trabeculectomy were involved. First tear break up time ( FTBUT ) , average tear break up time (ATBUT), non-invasive tear meniscus height (NlTMH), lipid layer thickness and meibomian gland scores were measured at 1d preoperatively and at 1d, 1wk, 1mo postoperatively.RESULTS:At 1d, 1wk and 1mo postoperatively, FTBUT and ATBUT decreased greatly (P<0. 05), as well as lipid layer thickness (P<0. 017). NlTMH at 1d postoperatively increased significantly, but at 1wk and 1mo postoperatively decreased greatly (P<0. 05). There was no significantly difference in meibomian gland scores between preoperation and postoperation (P>0. 05). CONCLUSlON: Keratograph 5M could be used to evaluate tear film function rapidly and accurately. Trabeculectomy significantly alters tear film stability and tear secretion in the short term after operation.

Objective To compare the effect of two different dialysis modalities, hemodialysis (HD) and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) on insulin resistance in patients with adult end-stage renal disease (ESRD), and to identify the possible predictive factors for insulin resistance. Methods Fifteen non-diabetic patients with ESRD (ESRD group) were selected. Eight patients were treated with HD (HD group), and 7 patients were treated with CAPD (CAPD group). The insulin inhibition was examined by hyper insulin-euglycemic glucose clamp technique before and after dialysis treatment, and the glucose disposal rate (GDR) was used as an index of insulin sensitivity during the clamp technique. Meanwhile, 8 healthy controls were selected as control group. The biochemical parameters which might be associated with insulin resistance were determined by multiple linear regression. Results The GDR in control group was (9.93 ± 1.33) mg/(kg · min), in ESRD group was (6.44 ± 1.76) mg/(kg·min), and there was statistical difference (P<0.05). The GDR in HD group after treatment was increased from (6.53 ± 1.84) mg/(kg · min) to (9.74 ± 2.88) mg/(kg · min), and there was statistical difference (P<0.01). The GDR in CAPD group after treatment was increased from (6.35 ± 1.65) mg/(kg·min) to (8.18 ± 1.76) mg/(kg·min), and there was statistical difference (P<0.05). Multiple linear regression result showed that the levels of urea nitrogen, hematocrit and bicarbonate were significant predictive factors in insulin resistance (P<0.05). Conclusions CAPD and HD therapy can improve insulin resistance in adult patients with ESRD.

Objective To compare clinical prognosis between intermittent high-volume predilution on-line hemofiltration (HF) and standard intermittent hemodialysis (HD) in critically ill patients with acute kidney injury (AKI).Methods This was a prospective, randomized, controlled single-centre clinical study. The mortality and recovery rate of kidney function were compared in critically ill adult patients with AKI between HF group (using intermittent high-volume predilution on-line HF,50 cases) and HD group (standard intermittent HD,45 cases). The prognosis of 60 d was followed up,including 60-day all-cause mortality,in-hospital all-cause mortality and recovery of kidney function. Results There were no statistical differences in basic clinical characteristics between 2 groups (P > 0.05).The results of 60-day' follow-up showed, the mortality in HF group was 68.0% (34/50),and in HD group was 82.2% (37/45).There was statistical difference (risk ratio 0.75,95% CI 0.80-1.28,P =0.036).There were no statistical differences in the in-hospital mortality and recovery rate of kidney function (P > 0.05).There was no statistical difference in complication rate between 2 groups (P> 0.05).Conclusion The mortality is significantly lower in critically ill patients with AKI treated with intermittent high-volume predilution on-line HF,compared those treated with standard intermittent HD.

Objective To summarize the effect of surgical treatment and nursing strategies of patients with growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma complicated by sleep apnea syndrome. Method Forty-three cases with growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma complicated by sleep apnea syndrome underwent surgical treatment in our department , with their history retrospectively analyzed to compare the hormone levels and blood oxygen saturation between pre-and post-operation. Result After the operation, both levels of the hormone and blood oxygen saturation were improved than those before operation; the incidence of sleep apnea syndrome was also lower than that before operation (all P<0.05). Conclusions Surgical treatment is better for patients with growth hormone-secreting pituitary adenoma complicated by sleep apnea syndrome. Reasonable treatment and effective nursing are favorable for the recovery of patients.

Objective To detect the effect of Danhong injection on cerebral vascular hemodynamic parameters, Cys-c and Hcy in patients with transient cerebral ischemia(TIA), and analyze its clinical effect. Methods 80 TIA patients were selected. The patients were divided into a control group and a Danhong injection observation group with 40 cases each group. The control group was given conventional treatment, and the observation group was given conventional treatment and Danhong injection. The treatment course was 14 d. The hemodynamic parameters, Cys-c and Hcy expresssion were observed. Clinical effect was analyzed. Results After treatment, average blood flow speed (20.07 ± 4.28 cm/s vs. 16.17 ± 2.46 cm/s, t=5.230), average blood flow (11.14 ± 2.24 ml/s vs. 9.54 ± 1.65 ml/s, t=3.637), and cerebral vascular resistance (1 602.4 ± 98.3 kPa/s·m-1 vs. 1 738.5 ± 104.3 kPa/s·m-1, t=6.024) was significantly improved in the observation group than those in the control group (P<0.05). Cys-c (0.48 ± 0.11 mg/L vs. 0.71 ± 0.14 mg/L, t=8.170) and Hcy (17.45 ± 3.26 μmol/L vs. 23.62 ± 4.12 μmol/L, t=7.428) were significantly decreased in the observation group than those in the control group (P<0.05). The recurrence rate of TIA and cerebral infarction were 7.5% and 5% in observation group, which were significantly lower than that of 22.5% and 15% in control group (χ2=2.451, P<0.05;χ2=2.630, P<0.05).Conclusion Danhong injection can reduce the expression of Cys-c and Hcy and recurrence rate of TIA and cerebral infarction.
