ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between β2-adrenergic receptor (β2-AR) gene Arg16Gly polymorphism and essential hypertension (EH) in elder (≥60 years old).Methods150 old healthy controls and 115 old patients with EH (all of them without kin relation) were selected to test genotype of β2-AR by the technique of polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-PFLP).ResultsThe frequencies of three genotypes (Arg/Arg, Arg/Gly and Gly/Gly) were 22.81%, 53.51% and 23.68% in the EH group and 27.33%, 67.33% and 5.33% in the controls respectively. The frequencies of Arg and Gly allele were 49.56 % and 50.44% in the EH group, and 61.00% and 39.00% in the controls. There was a significant difference in distribution of alleles/genotypes between EH group and controls ( P<0.05).Conclusionβ2-AR Arg16Gly gene polymorphism is possibly associated with hypertension in this study population.

Background Corneal chemical burns,especially hazards of alkali burn become increasingly prominent.Clinically,anti-inflammatory,immuno-suppression,corneal transplantation are the common treating method for corneal alkali burn.But the research of tissue repair under the microenvironment of corneal alkali burn is necessary.Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effect of deproteinised calf serum eye gel on the corneal alkali burn.Methods Alkali burn model of cornea was established on the right eyes by putting the filter paper with 0.5 mol/L NaOH on the center cornea for 1 minute in 24 white rabbits.The model rabbits were divided randomly into 4 groups.Normal saline solution,deproteinised calf serum eye gel,blank matrix gel or recombinant bovine basic fibroblast growth factor(rb-bFGF)eye-gel was topically administered 4 times per day for 14days in the 4 groups,respectively.The inflammatory reaction was examined under the slit lamp and scored based on Ando' s criteria.Corneal fluorescine staining was performed to calculate the corneal ulcer area and scored based on Trousdale' s criteria.Histopathological examination of corneas was performed on the fourtcenth day after experiment.The use of the experiment animals complied with ARVO Statement.Results Corneal edema and opacification were seen in the model eyes with the modeling successful rate 100％.On the seventh day after experiment,the severe ulcer of cornea and hypopyon appeared in the normal saline solution group.Corneal epithelium was intact but the intrarocular structure was invisible in the blank matrix gel group.In th(c) rb-bFCF group,corneal new vessels were seen,however,the corneal ulcer completely regrow in the deproteinised calf serum eye gel group.In 3,5,7,10 and 14days after examination,the corneal inflammatory scores were significantly lower in the deproteinised calf serum eye gel group and rb-bFGF group than those of the normal saline solution(P＜0.01).No significant difference was found in the inflammatory score between the deproteinised calf serum eye gel group and rb-bFGF group (P＞0.05) but was significantly lower than the blank gel matrix group (P ＜ 0.05).With respect to the corneal ulcer,the score was decreased in the deproteinised calf serum eye gel group compared with the normal saline solution group and blank gel matrix group (P ＜ 0.05).Howcver,no significant difference was found in the corneal ulcer score between the deproteinised calf serum eye gel group and rb-bFGF group in various time points (P＞ 0.05).Conclusions Deproteinised calf serum eye gel can promote the healing of corneal ulcer and remit the inflammatory response afler corneal alkali burns with a better effectiveness than rb-bFGF.

Objective To investigate the efficacy and mechanism of mongolian medicine Menggenwusenrile in the treatment of imiquimod -induced psoriasiform skin inflammation in mice.Methods Fifty cases of BALB/c female mice were randomly divided into normal control group, model group, Menggenwusenrile low, middle and high dose groups, 10 cases in each group.Normal control group was given 0.3% sodium car-boxyl methyl cellulose(CMCNa) 2 mL/100 g, once a day intragastric administration for consecutive 21 days.Modal group was given 0.3%CMCNa 2 mL/100 g, once a day intragastric administration for consecu-tive 21 days.Menggenwusenrile low, middle and high dose groups were given 0.33, 0.66, 1.32 g? kg-1 , once a day intragastric administration for consecutive 21 days.The expression of proliferating cell nuclear anti-gen ( PCNA) , transforming growth factor-α( TGF-α) , tumor necrosis factor-α( TNF-α) , platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1/CD31 (CD31), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)and Toll -like receptors-2 ( TLR-2 ) were detected by immunohistochemical stai-ning.Results Six kinds of immunohistochemical analysis showed the each drug dose group was higher than the model group, high dose is bet-ter than middle dose group, the middle dose group is better than low dose.Conclusion Menggenwusenrile have a better therapeutic effect in imiquimod-induced psoriasiform skin inflam-mation in mice.

AIM: To observe clinical efficacy of the intravitreal injection of conbercept treatment for exudative age -related macular degeneration.
METHODS:Prospective study. Totally 112 senile patients (112 eyes) with exudative macular degeneration were randomly divided into study group and the control group, 56 cases in each group. The study group were treated with intravitreal injection of conbercept. The control group received conservative treatment. Uncorrected visual acuity and foveal retinal thickness were observed before and after treatment in the two groups.
RESULTS: Visual acuity of study group improved significantly, and the most obvious improvement was observed at 6mo after treatment. Foveal retinal thickness of study group was reduced after treatment, and the most obvious decrease was observed at 6mo after treatment.CONCLUSION: Intravitreal injection of conbercept can improve visual acuity reduced foveal thickness in senile patients with exudative age - related macular degeneration.

Objective To study the effect of glucocorticoid on serum interleukin(IL)-1,IL-6,transforming growth factor-?_1(TGF-?_1) and tumor necrosis factor alpha(TNF-?) in children with primary nephrotic syndrome(PNS).Methods The levels of cytokines on serum were compared in 3 different patho-type,and IL-1,IL-6,TGF-?_1 and TNF-? in serum were detected using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA) in 25 children with PNS before and after treatment with glucocorticoids.Results Significant difference of IL-1,IL-6,TGF-?_1 and TNF-? were found between the two group before and after the treatment(P0.05).The level of TGF-?_1 in MCD was lo-wer than that in MsPNG,FSGS before and after the treatment(P0.05),and the level of it in FSGS was higher than that in MsPNG after the treatment(P

Objective The absorbable haemostatic membrane was used to stop bleeding during posterior spinal surgery so as to investigate the therapeutic effect and the security of the absorbable haemostatic membrane. Methods Ninety-four patients were enrolled into the experimental group and the control group. In the experimental group , the decompression wound is handled by using the regular absorbable haemostatic membrane to stop bleeding. In the control group , the conventional surgical methods , such as coagulation , brain cotton and other methods were used to stop bleeding. After the operations , patients in two groups were given indwelling vacuum drainage tube. The post operation vacuum pipe drainage , the drainage tube removing time , the incidence of postoperative complications after removing drainage tubes , the reoperation number , vital signs after 24 hour (temperature, respiration, pulse, blood pressure), and laboratory tests (blood count, coagulation function parameters) were determined and compared between two groups. Results Both the vacuum drainage at 24 hours post operation and the total vacuum drainage post operation were significantly reduced in the experimental group(P < 0.05, respectively). No significant differences in the coagulation function parameters were found between both two groups. Conclusion The absorbable haemostatic membrane may be applicable for spinal surgery.

Objective:To discuss the therapeutic effect of blood purification on hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome combined with acute renal failure.Methods:60 patients with hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome combined with acute renal failure were selected,and they were divided into two groups according to the odd and even number of hospitalization.The observation group (31 cases) received hemodialysis therapy.The control group (29 cases) received veno-venous hemofiltration therapy.The renal function,serum ion,blood routine indexes and the incidence of adverse reactions during treatment was detected and compared between two groups.Results:There were no statistical significance on K+,HCO3-,BUN,Cr between two groups (P＞0.05).After treatment,the K+,BUN,Cr levels were decreased in two groups (P＜0.05).The values of observation group were lower than those of the control group (P＜0.05).The level of HCO3-was increased in two groups,and it was higher in observation group than that of the control group (P＜0.05).Before treatment,there was no statistical significance on Hb,Hc,PLT between two groups (P＞0.05).After treatment,the Hb,Hc,PLT levels were increased in two groups (P＜0.05),but there were no statistical significance between two groups (P＞0.05).During 1 year of follow-up,the 6 months and 12 months survival rate of observation group was higher than that of the control group (P＜0.05).During treatment,there were no statistical significance on the incidence of adverse reactions between two groups (P＞0.05).Conclusions:The hemofiltration therapy has a good therapeutic effect on blood purification on hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome combined with acute renal failure,and it can regulate the electrolyte balance,improve the renal function and increase the survival rate,which is equivalent to veno-venous hemofiltration therapy in amelioration of blood state.

OBJECTIVETo explore the intervention of Fagopyrum cymosum (Trev.) Meisn alcohol extract (FAE) on defecation function and motor functions of isolated colons of diarrhea-predominant irritable bowel syndrome (D-IBS) rats and to study its underlying mechanism.

METHODSThe D-IBS rat model was established by neonatal pups maternal separation (NMS) combined with intracolonic infusion of acetic acid (AA). Adult IBS rats were randomly divided into the pre-intervention control group (n = 10, with no gastrogavage), the normal saline control group (n = 10, administered with normal saline by gastrogavage), the pre-treatment model group (n = 8,with no gastrogavage),the normal saline model group (n = 8, administered with normal saline by gastrogavage), the low dose FAE group (n = 8, administered with 6 g/kg FAE by gastrogavage), the high dose FAE group (n = 8, administered with 24 g/kg FAE by gastrogavage), and the Pinaverium Bromide group (n = 8, administered with 0.02 g/kg Pinaverium Bromide by gastrogavage). All medication was performed once daily for 2 weeks. The abdominal withdrawal reflex (AWR) was employed to evaluate the visceral hypersensitivity; their loose and watery stool grade was assessed by Bristol scores for stool consistency; and their fresh feces weight was calculated. In vitro effect of different concentrations of FAE and Pinaverium Bromide (0.02 μg/mL) on spontaneous contraction and spasmodic contraction induced by acetylcholine (Ach) in rats' isolated colon were observed and the influence on the intestinal calcium channel was evaluated.

RESULTSCompared with the pre-intervention control group, the pain pressure threshold and the maximum tolerance pressure decreased significantly in the pre-intervention model group (P < 0.05), and the loose and watery stool grade and fresh feces weight increased drastically (P < 0.01). Compared with the normal saline control group, the pain pressure threshold and the maximum tolerance pressure decreased significantly in the normal saline model group (P < 0.05), and the loose and watery stool grade and fresh feces weight increased markedly (P < 0.01). Compared with the normal saline model group, the pain pressure threshold of 24 g/kg FAE and Pinaverium Bromide group significantly increased (P < 0.05). The loose and watery stool grade and fresh feces weight decreased obviously in the low dose FAE group, the high dose FAE group, and the Pinaverium Bromide group (P < 0.05). FAE (30, 100, 300, 1,000, and 3,000 μg/mL) and Pinaverium Bromide could significantly inhibit spontaneous contraction of isolated intestines (P < 0.05, P < 0.01), and FAE (30, 100, and 300 x 10(-6) g/mL) could remarkably inhibit their spasmodic contraction and contractile tension induced by Ach and Ca2+ respectively (P < 0.05, P < 0.01) in a concentration-dependent manner. Pinaverium Bromide also could significantly inhibit Ach and Ca2+ induced contraction.

CONCLUSIONEffective components of FAE improved the defecation function and inhibited enterospasm induced intestinal hyperactivity in IBS model rats via antagonizing calcium channel competitively and inhibiting colonic motility dose-dependently.

OBJECTIVETo study the effects of pulsed ultrasound (PUS) and pulsed electromagnetic fields (PEMF) on the secretion of extracellular matrix from a culture complex during in vitro chondrogenesis.

METHODSAll the rat bone marrow mesen- chymal stem cell pellets were cultured in achondrogenic medium. Different intensities of PUS (100, 150, and 200 mW · cm⁻²) and PEMF (1, 2, and 5 mT) were applied to the cell pellets for 2 weeks. Group N was cultured without PUS and PEMF stimu- lation as control. The culture medium was collected after 2 weeks of culture. Enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) was used to detect the type of collagen and glycosaminoglycan (GAG) in the culture medium.

RESULTSPUS increased the secreting-type collagen and GAG from cell pellets compared with group N (P < 0.05), whereas there was no difference in different intensities (P > 0.05). PEMF had no significant effect on the secretion of the type of collagen (P > 0.05). A PEMF of 1 mT had no significant effect on the secretion of GAG (P > 0.05). A PEMF 2 and 5 mT decreased the secretion of GAG (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONTo prevent the secretary of extracellular matrix may play a role in chondrogenic effect of PEMF.
