1.Study on the association of HLA-Ⅲ components and complotype with Myasthenia gravis

Allotypes and complotypes of Bf, C4A and C4B in 42 families with myasthenia gravis (MG) were determined by means of high voltage agarose gel elect rophoresis of EDTA plasma and subsequent immunofixation, in an attempt to determine whether specific allotypes and/or complotypes were associated with this disease. From the family-data, 108 complotypes were obtained, which could be classified into 28 kinds of complotypes. We found that there are positive linkage disequilibra in S42, S31 and S40,and negative linkage disequilibra in S32 and S41. Compared of these results with those of normal controls, the frequency of S42 is significantly increased in MG(P 0.05).Furhter analysis showed that the MG associated S42 may result from that C4A4 is strongly associated with MG, while C4A4 is in linkage disequilibrium with Bf S and C4A2. Preliminary association mechanism between C4A4 and MG was analysed and discused.
2.Pedicled greater omentum displacement for the repair of complex vesicovaginal fistulas (report of 67 cases)

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of pedicled greater omentum displacement for the repair of complex vesicovaginal fistulas. Methods This series included 67 cases of complex vesicovaginal fistulas.Their mean age was 24 years (range,19-38 years). The disease course ranged from 6 months to 11 years (mean, 3.5 years).All the fistulas resulted from dystocia.The fistula outlet was 2.5-4.5 cm in greatest dimension with a mean of 3.0 cm.The complications included ureter vesicovaginal fistulas in 15 cases (left side in 5,right in 7 and both in 3),ureter orifice stricture in 4 cases (left side in 2,right in 1 and both in 1),hydronephrosis in 17 cases (left side in 7, right in 9 and both in 1),bladder calculi in 9 cases.The pedicled greater omentum displacement was performed to form a kind of protective "tightening screen", which covered the wound repaired between bladder and vesicovaginal fistula. Results The procedure was successfully completed at a single session of repair in 63 patients with a success rate of 94%.Two patients underwent further prolonged indwelling catheterization because of tiny vesicovaginal fistulas of 0.2-0.4 cm after initial operation.The procedure failed in 4 cases (6%).Among the 67 patients,ureterovesicoplasty was performed in 21 cases.After operation,29 patients (46%) had mild incontinence; of them 21 got successful further treatment.The follow-up was 3 months in the 63 cases with successful results.No vesicovaginal fistula occurred. However,8 cases had mild incontinence,and B-ultrasound and IVU showed mild hydronephrosis in 3 cases. Conclusions The operation by “tightening screen” to repair vesicovaginal fistulas through pedicled greater omentum displacement can improve the success rate of operation and allow the appropriate treatment of complications such as ureter orifice stenosis and fistulas.
3.Effects of iodine deficiency and iodine excess on thyroid function and structure in rats

The effects of iodine deficiency and excess on thyroid function and structure were observed in rats.Urinary iodine,iodine in thyroid and thyroid hormones in serum and thyroid tissue of the rats with low iodine intake were significantly lower than those in rats with normal iodine intake.Urinary iodine and iodine content in thyroid increased gradually,however,thyroid hormones in serum and thyroid tissue decreased with excessive iodine intake.Thyroid follicles in the low iodine intake group showed hyperplasia under light microscope.Thyroid follicles showed polymorphic changes in 5-and 10-fold excessive iodine intake groups and significant hyperplasia in 50-and 100-fold excessive iodine groups.These findings suggest that both iodine deficiency and iodine excess can cause hypothyroidism.
4.Intraoperative radiotherapy for soft tissue sarcoma

Soft tissue sarcoma ( STS) , which is mostly found in extremities and retroperitoneum, is a malignant tumor of the connective tissue with the low incidence ( 1% of all malignant tumors) and various kinds of histopathological types. Intraoperative radio-therapy ( IORT) can improve the therapeutic effects of STS and to reserve the functions of the related organs, holding the apparent ad-vantage in local control rate of the tumor. IORT may cause toxicity, such as wound infections, limb ischemic necrosis and fibrosis. However, with the gradual development of IORT equipment, incidence rate of toxicity may be further reduced. This paper reviews the history, indications and advantages, clinical efficacy and adverse effect of IORT in STS.
5.Genetic polymorphism of the C4 and Factor B(Bf) in patients with Epilepsy

C4 and Bf typing was performed by electroimmunofixation with antihuman C4 and Bf sera in 103 patients with epilepsy, and the results were compared with a control group of unrelated healthy individuals of 76 for C4 and 220 for Bf. An increase in gene frequency of Bf F in the paties with epilepsy (0.1942) was found in comparison with that in the normol controls (0.1159). The relative risk value (RR) and etiological fraction (EF)for epilepsy in person who carry the Bf F gene were 1.8379 and 8.85?10~(=2) respectively. About the C4, there is no difference between patients and normal controls.
6.Determination of the Contents of Phillyrin in Shuanghuanglian Preparations by HPLC

OBJECTIVE: To establish the item of phillyrin content determination in the quality standard of shuanghuanglian preparations. METHODS:The contents of phillyrin were determined by HPLC with ODS column and acetonitrile- water(25 : 75) as mobile phase.Detecting wavelength was 277nm. RESULTS: The calibration curve was linear in this experiment. The average recovery was 99. 1% with RSD of 0. 82% .CONCLUSION: This method is good in precision and satisfactory in isolation and repeatability and the result is accurate. It may be adopted in quality control of shuanghuanglian preparations.

8.Analysis of Species of Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae Indexed in Different Version of Chinese Pharmacopoeia

OBJECTIVE:To discuss the classification of Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae medical materials indexed in different versions of Chinese Pharmacopoeia.METHODS:The Songbei powder and the Limpet powder were identified by microscopy;then the chemical constituents of Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae from 4 origins and their respective market price were analyzed.RESULTS:The microscopic identification results showed that the differences between Songbei and the Limpet were great;the assay of chemical constituents also showed that there were significant differences among the four varieties of Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae,suggesting the 4 species had significant differences in drug efficacy.Viewed from market demand,the prices of Songbei and Fritillaria delavayi Franch.delavayi had great differences.CONCLUSOIN:The Bulbus Fritillariae Cirrhosae refers to "one group" instead of "one kind".It should be composed of 4 species:Fritillaria cirrhosa D.Don,Fritillaria unibracteata Hsiao et K.C.Hsia(Songbei),Fritillaria przewalskii Maxim.(Minbei) and Fritillaria delavayi Franch.delavayi.

The gene of preferentially expressed antigen of melanoma(PRAME) is a gene marker of leukemia,which can be used to monitor the minimal residual disease,and can make us to comprehend the curative effect,prognosis,the grade of risk and can predict relapse.In addition,PRAME as a human tumour antigen,can be recognized by autologous cytolytic T lymphocytes,is a ideal target of immunotherapy in leukemia,and investigate the methylation level of PRAME gene CpG island,which can help us comprehend the relation of the mechanism of PRAME and leukemia.
