Systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE) is an autoimmune disease characterized by multisystem involvement including central nervous system and various neurologic symptoms. The authors experienced a case of brain SLE and report MRI and other neuroimaging findings.

Spinal extradural angiolipoma is a rare benign tumor containing vascular and mature adipose elements. The most common location of this tumor is the thoracic level with a tendency to involve several spinal segments. Almost all spinal extradural angiolipomas develop on the posterior aspect of the dura. The authors report a case of surgically proven spinal extradural angiolipoma involving the thoracic level and describe its CT findings.

Reconstruction nf torn cruciate ligament by using fascia lata, hamstring tendon and patellar tendon has been accompanied not infrequently with such complication as the avascular necrosis and/ or degeneration of the graft with eventual stretching. Normally the knee resists invaision by any tissue not covered by synovial membrane except the meniscus, which is a fibrocartilaginous structure and is not dependent on vascular supply, but is nourished by synovial fluid. The method using the meniscus in this procedure would be superior to the above methods would also entail less complication. In the two knee injuries, the patella and femur fracture in case 1 and the posterior dislocation in case 2, the torn posterior cruciate ligaments were reconstructed with torn lateral menisci. The results were good in both with normal stability.

PURPOSE: Purpose :To evaluate the position and transverse dimension of the adult optic chiasm in normal Korean adult. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The authors analysed 3D coronal volume images (TR/TE= 30/13, flip angle= 30 degrees) of 136 normal adult subjects without known visual abnormality. All MRI examinations were performed using a 0.5T system. MRI was reviewed retrospectively to determine the position (horizontal and tilted) of the potic chiosm and the transverse dimension of the optic chiasm was measured. RESULTS: Seventy-five (55%) of 136 normal subjects had horizontal position, and sixty-one (45%) had tilted position. Thirty-eight (62%) of 61 with tilted position showed higher position on the right side, and twenty-three (38%) showed higher position on the side. The average transverse dimension(mean SD) was 15.2 +/- 0.7mm in men and 14.6 +/- 1.0mm in women. The difference of transverse dimension between men and women was statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Tilted position of the adult optic chiasm on coronal MRI was seen in approximately half of normal adults. The average of transverse dimension of normal optic chiasm was 15mm.

Wilson disease is a rare genetic disorder of copper metabolism. Although CT findings suggest the disease when CNS pathologic changes are advanced, characteristic brain MR findings are reported to manifest early in the disease. The authors experienced two cases of Wilson disease of the brain and report the MR findings.

Measurement of various portions of the corpus callosum was performed on magnetic resonance(MR) images of 114 subjects with no known or suspected corpus callosal disorders. Midsagittal T1-weighted images used for measurements and mean diameters of various portions in each age and sex group were obtained. Measures of five portions were made : (A) the anterio-posterior length, (B) the diameter of genu portion, (C) the diameter of splenium, (D) the diameter of and mid-body portion, (E) the diameter of narrow portion at the body of corpus callosum. The mean diameter in each gender group for A, B, C, D, and E were 68.8mm, 12.1mm, 12.3mm, 6.9mm, 4.1mm in male and 69.9mm, 12.0mm, 12.1mm, 6.4mm, 4.1mm in female, respectively. The groups of 0-9 years of both genders showed the minimum mean value in each portion.

Epidermolytic Hyperkeratosis is a rare variant of ichthyosis, transmitted as autosomal dominant inheritance. A 2-year-old male baby, in whom no hereditary back ground was found, showed typical clinical and histopathological features of Epiderrnolytic Hyperkeratosis. The possibility of occuring the disease without hereditary back grcund, clinical features, and histological characteristics of the disease are discussed.
