CT is a noninvasive and highly valuable method in the diagnosis of intracerebral vascular accidents. Authors analysed 200 cases of clinically suspected cerebrovascular accident(CVA) who were performed CT scan from April1980 to June 1981. The results were as follows; 1. The analysis of CT finding in 200 cases of clinically suspected CVA showed 129 cases (64.5%) of definite CVA, 53 cases of normal finding, 8 cases of equivocal finding and 10cases of miscellaneous disease. 2. Among CVA positive finding of 129 cases, intracerebral hemorrhage was noted in61 cases (47.3%), cerebral infarction in 39 cases (30.2%) and subarachnoid hemorrhage in 29 cases (22.5%) 3. The most prevalent age group as 6th decade in intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage, but 7th decade in cerebral infarction. The sex ratio between male and female in intracerebral hemorrhage and subarachnoid hemorrhage was 1:1 and 1:1.6 respectively, but incerebral infarction male was predominant with the ratio of 3:1. 4. The most common sites of involvement was basal Anglia (41.0%), thalamus (32.8%) and lobes(18.0%) in intracerebral hemorrhage; and lobes(51.6%) and basal ganglia (30.7%) in infarction. 5. Among 33 cases of subarachnoid hemorrhage confirmed by spinal tapping, 25 cases (75.8%) showed CT positive finding and 8 cases (24.2%) CT negative finding. Most cases of CT positive finding were performed CT scan was 7 hours after onset; and the mass effect of the lesion was observed in 44% of cases, mostly(82%) within a week. The contrast enhancement of the cerebral infarct was demonstrated in 19% of cases mostly between 3 days and 30 days and after onset.

The influence of normal late pregnancy on insulin action and insulin secretion was studied in the Sprague-Dawley female rats. On 20th day after mating, intravenous glucose tolerance test(IVGTI) was performed in non pregnant control and pregnant rats. As results of IVGTT, glucose disappearance rate was not significantly different in both groups, but secretory response of insulin was significantly(p<0.05) increased in pregnant rat. And the ratio of insulin/ .glucose was significantly higher in pregnant rats, which means existence of insulin resistance. These insulin resistance was overcomed by increased secretory response of pancreatic insulin. Insulinogenic index( A insulin/glucose - 5 min) was highly significantly (r=0.62, p<0.01) correlated with progesterone concentration. Glycogen level and amounts of "C-glucose incorporated into glycogen after IVGTT were significantly(p<0. 05) decreased in the liver, but were not changed significantly in soleus. Glycogen synthase activity of soleus and liver was not differ significantly in the both groups. Insulin binding at varying concentrations of insulin to crude membrane of pregnant liver was not significantly different from control. In conclusions, although these pregnant rats were normal glucose tolerance due to increased secretory response of insulin, that was correlated with progesterone concentration, pregnant rat had insulin resistance. The mechanisms of insulin resistance were not related to defect of insulin binding phase and glycogen synthase, but suggest pre-receptor and/or postreceptor phase.

The villous adenoma of the duodenum is a rare disease and a considerable portion of the cases are known to be associated with malignancy. Although the diagnosis can be made with duodenoscopy, some cases showed false negative rate for malignancy detection with endoscopic biopsy only. So Whipple's operation is preferred than local excision. We experienced a case of tubulovillous adenoma involving ampulla of Vater, which recurred after local excision. So we report a case of tubulovillous adenoma involving ampulla of Vater with relevant literature.

The effect of exercise on plasma insulin, free fatty acid, and glucose uptake and glycogen concentration in soleus, and intravenous glucose tolerance of streptozotocin treated, diabetic Sprague-Dawley rats were studied. Diabetic-trained animals were subjected to a regular program of treadmill running for 4 weeks. Seventy-two hours after the last training session, basal and insulin-stimulated glucose uptake was studied in incubated strips (about 20 mg) of soleus muscle in vitro. Glucose tolerance was measured with intravenous infusion of 0.5 g glucose/kg body weight. In diabetic rats, training was associated with increase glucose uptake in basal and maximal insulin concentrations, decreased fasting glucose concentrations, and increased muscle glycogen levels, but there were no changes in glucose tolerance curve and plasma insulin concentrations. These results suggest that regular running program for 4 weeks improve responsiveness of insulin on soleus muscle, but fails to cause improvement of impaired intravenous glucose tolerance in mild degree streptozotocin induced diabetic rats.

Craniometaphyseal Dysplasia is characterized by hyperostosis of craniofacial bones, with compression of cranial nerves at the foramina, and by changes in the metaphyses of long bones. The changes in long bones resemble to some degree those seen in pyle's disease, but have cretain differences and significant cranial abnormalities with which differential diagnosis could be made with certainty. An interesting and unusual patient diagnosed Craniometaphyseal Dysplasia was recently experienced by authors. The case report with brief review of literstures in presented.

The previous reports about Supracondylar-Condylar Fracture of the femur which extends to articular surfaces revealed poor results in general, regardless of the methods of treatment. But those results are thought to be much alleviated if they are treated according to the principles of ASIF. Fifteen cases of Supracondylar-condylar fractures of the femur from 13 patients were treated by open reduction and rigid internal fixation during last 3 years at Department of Orthopedic Surgery, Early mobilization of knee joint was permissible in most of the cases without loss of fixation or other complications during convalescence Subsequently, greatifying results were obtained as observed in varying period of follow up days.

Pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma is a rare variant of ductal adenocarcinoma and accounts for only 1~4% of exocrine pancreatic malignancies. Although pancreatic carcinoma shows an aggressive biologic behavior, cutaneous metastasis from pancreas carcinoma is rare. We report a case of a pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma which clinically manifested as two firm nodules on the right upper extremity. It was this first clinical manifestation that made it possible to diagnose pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma.
