PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to identify the casual relationship between nurses' social capital, job engagement and nursing performance and to verify the goodness of fit between a hypothetical model and actual data in order to suggest the best model. METHODS: This survey was conducted with 250 nurses working in 3 general hospitals in Seoul. Data were collected from June 20 to July 29, 2016 and analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21.0 and AMOS 21.0. RESULTS: Nurses' social capital and job engagement were found to have no direct effect on increasing nursing performance. But, it was found that social capital and job engagement had indirect effects on nursing performance through mediating organizational citizenship behavior. Social capital had direct effects on increasing job engagement and indirect effects on organizational citizenship behavior. CONCLUSION: Results of this study indicate that nurse managers should concentrate efforts on increasing nurses's job engagement and preparing organization to increase social capital in order to improve nursing performance.

Subcutaneous panniculitic T-cell lymphoma is one of very rare diseases in children, which is presumably derived from various immunocompetent T-cell system components. It is a distinctive clinicopathologic entity, different from other lymphoma group. We report a case of subcutaneous panniculitic T-cell lymphoma in a 14-year-old boy with the complaints of fever and multiple subcutaneous nodule. A brief review of related literatures was also made.

PURPOSE: This study was done to provide information about issues of clinical competency from the perspective of new graduate nurses and to make suggestions for improving undergraduate education programmes. It was also done to clarify learning experiences between fundamentals of nursing and the other major areas of nursing. METHOD: For this study, 7 new graduates and 8 experienced nurses participated. The data were collected through in-depth interviews and analysed in terms of Strauss and Corbin's grounded theory methodology. RESULT: Core category and main categories, were delineated. Clinical nursing competency was found to be a dynamic process with each participant actively engaged in acquiring problem solving ability in diverse clinical settings. These findings have value in understanding the embedded meaning of clinical nursing competency. CONCLUSION: Therefore, the educational programs reflecting the experience of new nursing staff should be developed.

OBJECTIVE: A Study was undertaken to assess the family background of abandonment and clinical and social aspects in an institute for foreign adoption. The results were compared to the previous two reports from the institute. METHOD: A sample of 1,728 children from 1987 to 1992 formed the subjects of the study by the medical records in the institution. RESULTS: 1) The unmber of girls were more than that of male and ratio of male to female was 1:1.1, which was reduced compared to previous study. 2) The distribution less than one month of age was most commonly and increased compared to previous study. 3) The Place at birth was hospital most commonly. 4) The type of delivery was full-term one(61.5%) and tend to be increased. 5) Age distribution of monthers was from 16 years to 25 years mainly, 1,081 of them(62.5%) were from unmarried one and 409(37.4%) were from married one. 6) By classifying the cause of adoption, unmarried mothers occupied main one(62.5%), poverty(13.4%) extramarital relations(5.2%), divorce(2.9%) and death of parents in the order of frequency, tend to increased in unmarried mothers. 7) Disease pattern showed respiratory disease, jaundice, acute gastroenteritis, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, conjunctivitis in order of frequency. By care of foster mother at private home since 1988, the incidence of the transmissible disease was reduced. 8) Congenital anomalies were cleft and palate, hydrocele, umbilical hernia and congenital heart disease in order frequency. 9) Three hundred and eighty two babies were admitted to general hospital. The main disease were bhaline membrane disease. Jaundice, pneumonia and urinary tract disease, sepsis in the order of frequency. CONCLUSIONS: The ratio of male to female in the institution showed no definite difference and the age was tend to be younger. The cause of adoption was unmarried mother mainly. Respiratory disease in the institution and hyaline membrane disease in the hospitalized was most common.

The clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical finding of 10 cases of nasal non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL) and 23 cases of Waldeyer's ring NHL were studied. Immunohistochemically, nasal NHL expressed T-cell markers exclusively, whereas the NHL of Waldeyer's ring were of both T-cell (56.5%) and B-cell lineages (43.5%). Angioinvasiveness by tumor cells was exclusively noted in the T-lineage lymphomas. Epithelial hyperplasia, epitheliotropism by tumor cells, and extensive invasion of adjacent normal tissue were more prominent in T-cell lymphomas than in B-cell lymphomas. T-lineage lymphomas showed distant extranodal spread pattern involving the skin, soft tissue, stomach, spleen, and the liver, whereas B-lineage lymphomas tended to localize in the lymph nodes. The survival rate of Nasal NHL was similar to that of Waldeyer's ring NHL. Although not statistically significant because of small sample numbers, immunophenotype, histologic groups of monomorphic lymphoma, and stage had prognostic importance. In general, T-lineage lymphomas presented with a higher stage than B-lineage lymphomas (p < 0.05)-and overall survival was poor. Stage I disease showed a much more favorable prognosis than stage II disease. Monomorphic lymphomas had a shorter survival than polymorphic reticulosis (PR) or lymphomas with features of PR. This result in conjunction with the morphologic transition between them suggested that monomorphic lymphoma may represent the most advanced stage in the spectrum of PR, lymphoma with features of PR, and monomorphic lymphoma.
