Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1970;11(1):17-20
The authors analysed statistically 186 cases of the glaucoma patients among 20,785 out-patients who visited to our eye clinic from Jan. 1957 to Dec. 1969. The incidence of the glaucoma was 0.895% which was remarkably lower than the other reports. The following results were obtained. 1) Among the 186 cases, there were 85 male and 101 female patients. 2) There was no significant difference in left and right eye. 3) 51-60 year age group was prevalent (49 cases). 4) The age group over 40 occupied 61.3%. 5) The open angle glaucoma was the highest incidence.

Journal of Korean Academy of Adult Nursing 2002;14(2):265-275
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the selected nursing interventions and to describe the most common nursing interventions used by neurosurgery unit nurses. METHOD: The data was collected from 65 nurses of 5 general hospitals from Jan. 8, 2001 to Feb. 28, 2001. The instrument for this study was the Korean translation of 486 nursing intervention classifications, developed by MacClosky and Bluecheck in 2000. In the 486 nursing interventions 310 nursing interventions were selected, 8 from among the 10 professional nurses group in the neurosurgery care unit. The 310 nursing interventions were used in a secondary questionnaire. In the secondary questionnaire, all 310 intervention lables and definitions were listed. The data was analysed with SPSS program. RESULT: The results of this study are as follows. 1.The most frequently used nursing intervention domains were "physiological: complex", "physiological: basic", "Health system", "Behavior", "Safety", "Family". 2.Neurosurgery care unit core nursing interventions were performed several times a day by 50% or more of the Neurosurgery care unit. Neurosurgery core nursing intervention, 5 domain ("physiological: complex", "physiological: basic", "Health system", "Safety", "Behavior"), 16 class, 48 core nursing intervention. The most frequently used Neurosurgery core nursing interventions were Intravenous Therapy, Pressure ulcer prevention, Documentation, Airway suctioning, Medication: intravenous, Pain management, Medication: intramuscular, Shift report, Intravenous insertion, Positioning, Aspiration precaution, Pressure management, Physician support, Pressure ulcer care. 3.Compared with carrier and age of nurses, the more effective nursing interventions were "Family", Compared with the nursing place and the use of nursing interventions of nurses the most effective nursing interventions were "Health system" performed by nurse in university hospital. CONCLUSION: The purpose of this study was to analysis the nursing intervention performed by neurosurgery unit nurses. This study analyses nursing intervention and core nursing interventions performed by neurosurgery unit nurses. Basis on this study result, neurosurgery nursing interventions will be systematized, and progression of qualitative nursing, data of computerized nusing information system will be utilized.

Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2005;11(2):135-141
PURPOSE: The purposes of this study were to verify the effects of aromatherapy on labor pain and perception of the childbirth experience. METHODS: This study was a nonequivalent control group pretest- posttest design. The subjects of this experiment consisted of forty eight primiparas without problems during the gestation period. Twenty four primiparas in the experimental group were given general obstetric nursing care with aromatherapy every two hours. Twenty four primiparas in the control group were given general obstetric nursing care only. Data was collected for labor pain measured by a labor pain expression scale, uterine contraction activity measured by Montevideo units in the latent phase, active phase, and transition phase and the perception of childbirth experience 24hours after birth. Data was analyzed by t-test, and repeated measures of ANOVA with an SPSS program. RESULTS: No significant group effects were found, but significant time effects were found for labor pain, and uterine contraction activity. There was no significant difference in postpartum mothers' perception about childbirth. CONCLUSION: In this study, effects of aromtherapy decreasing labor pain expression, and increasing the perception of childbirth was not found.

10.Sex Differences in Cardiovascular Disease Risk Factors among Korean Adults
Korean Journal of Medicine 2020;95(4):266-275
Background/Aims:
The prevalence of cardiovascular disease among women is lower than that among men in middle age, but increases after middle age. This study was performed to compare the risk factors for cardiovascular disease according to sex in Koreans adults.
Methods:
Data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey for the 5th, 6th, and 7th years (2010–2017) were analyzed. This study examined the risk factors for cardiovascular disease among adults. From the total of 41,386 patients, 11,529 patients were selected.
Results:
The overall prevalence of cardiovascular disease in Korean adults was 27.9%, and the prevalence was higher in women than in men (55.3% vs. 44.7%, respectively, p < 0.001). Women with cardiovascular disease were older than men (66.6 ± 9.9 years vs. 63.9 ± 11.1 years, respectively, p < 0.001). The prevalence of cardiovascular disease was higher in women with comorbid depression and rheumatoid arthritis and higher in men with diabetes mellitus. Multivariate regression analysis showed that stress (OR 2.31, 95% CI 1.28–4.17, p = 0.005) and smoking (OR 1.61, 95% CI 1.04–2.48, p = 0.031) were independent risk factors for cardiovascular disease in men, while depression (OR 2.03, 95% CI 1.22–3.39, p = 0.007), low education level, rheumatoid arthritis, and poor subjective health status (OR 1.70, 95% CI 1.20–2.41, p = 0.003) were independent risk factors for cardiovascular disease in women.
Conclusions
Differences were detected in cardiovascular risk factors according to sex in Korea. The most important risk factors were smoking and stress in men, and depression, low education level, rheumatoid arthritis, and poor subjective health status in women.
