Recurrent episode of meningitis in infants and children frequently constitute a frustrating and distressing, both in determination of course and treatment. The authors are reporting a infected case of congenital dermal sinus with dermoid cyst in the subarachnoid space of cauda equina and conus medullaris which was cured after complete removal of cyst and sinus tract.

Korean Journal of Veterinary Research 2017;57(2):131-133
A 11-year-old, female Russian Blue cat was presented with anorexia, vomiting, and diarrhea lasting for 3 days. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a hypoechoic, non-circumferential, and eccentrically formed intestinal loop with altered wall layering and thickening of the tunica muscularis. After surgical resection, histopathologic examination confirmed an infiltrative, round-cell neoplasm composed of sheets and cords of neoplastic mast cells within a fibrotic, edematous stroma. The cat was alive and healthy 6 months after surgery. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first reported case of an intestinal mast cell tumor in a Russian Blue cat in South Korea.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1995;36(11):1990-1998
To investigate the retinal toxicity of ciprofloxacin on retina, 23 New Zealand white rabbits received vitrectomy with intravitreal infusion that contain of 1 g/ml, 2 g/ml, 5 g/ml, 10 g/ml, and 25 g/ml of ciprofloxacin(20 eyes) or balanced salt solution(BSS) only(3 eyes). In transmission elctron microscope, no disintegration of all retinal layers and slightly irregular pattern of disc of outer segment of rod were observed in 1, 2 and 5 g/ml of ciprofloxacin groups at 14 days postinfusion. In concentration of 10 g/ml or greater, retina showed destroyed inner and outer segment of the photoreceptor cells, pyknotic nuclei in the outer nuclear layer, lucent vacoules and pigment granules in apical cytoplasm of the retinal pigment epithelium(RPE), loss of photoreceptor outer segment-RPE integration. This study suggest that infusion with 5 g/ml or less of ciprofloxacin may be safe when used in the treatment of bacterial endophthalmitis.

Journal of the Korean Surgical Society 1999;56(3):453-455
Spigelian hernia is an uncommon hernia of the ant. abdominal wall. Because of its insidious nature and nonspecific physical findings, the diagnosis of this hernia is often not made. Typically, the hernia orifice is small, and strangulation of the contents of the hernial sac can occur. Computed tomography permits the distinction between Spigelian hernia and other anterial abdominal wall or intraabdominal masses. Spigelian hernia requires surgical correction to prevent complication of acute abdomen with strangulation or incarceration. The typical site of a Spigelian hernia is at the level of the semicircular fold of Douglas known as the arcuate line. Spigelian hernia can occur above the umbilicus, high Spigelian hernia, but its very unusual site. We report a case of Spigelian hernia on upper abdomen and review the literature.

Journal of Korean Academy of Psychiatric and Mental Health Nursing 2012;21(4):272-281
PURPOSE: This study was conducted to investigate the clear concept of proactivity of people with mental disabilities and to provide basic evidence for mental health nursing. METHODS: The research was conducted using Walker & Avant's conceptual analysis process. RESULTS: Proactivity of people with mental disabilities is defined as the ability of obtaining self-determination by putting continuous efforts toward their recovery, overcoming social stigma, recovering in a positive way from being withdrawn from relationships, and gaining self-confidence and willingness that they can recover from their mental illness. Antecedents were found to be persistent disease management, active participation and support of significant person. Consequences were found to be maintenance of a productive life. CONCLUSION: The results of this study accurately define the vague concept of proactivity of people with mental disabilities and contribute to mental health nursing related to proactivity for people with mental disabilities.

10.A Case of Orbital Varix with Three-Year Follow-up.
Do Hyung LEE ; Seong Jun LIM ; Myung Jin JOO
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1998;39(10):2465-2468
Orbital varix is a relatively rare disease that causes exophthalmos due to increase of cerebral venous pressure. We experienced a forty-two-year-old male patient, who complained of intermittent exophthalmos and blurred vision. The diagnosis was based on clinical manifestation and various radiologic studies including computed tomography(CT), venography, and magnetic resonance imaging(MRI). MRI is a useful and safe diagnostic study through which we could observe the orbital varix and assess the relationship between the varix and the orbital structure. In this case, the varix is huge and attached to superior rectus muscle. There being many surgical risks, he has been followed up without surgical treatment and educated to modify the life pattern for prevention of increase of carotid venous presure.
