Sternocostoclavicular hyperostosis is a benign ossifying diathetic disorder characterized by hyperostosis and soft tissue ossification of the clavicles, anterior portion of the first ribs, and manubrium, with variable hyperostosis or ankylosis in the spine and sacroiliac joints. A review of the literature and our own case describes the clinical findings and its characteristic features in RI, CT, and plain film.

3.The Effect of Case-based Learning (CBL) on Critical Thinking Disposition, Communication Ability, Problem Solving Ability and Self-directed Learning Ability of Nursing Students in Pathophysiology Course.

PURPOSE: This study is a quasi-experimental study to investigate the effect of case-based learning (CBL) on critical thinking disposition, communication ability, problem solving ability and self-directed learning ability of nursing students in a pathophysiology course. METHODS: The development of 3 CBL scenarios of pathophysiology were conducted by nursing faculties & clinical nurses before CBL began. Among the sophomore nursing students who were taking a pathophysiology course, the intervention group (n=43) was the nursing students who hope to participate in an extra-CBL program with usual pathophysiology lessons and the control group (n=36) was the nursing students who wanted to receive the usual pathophysiology lessons. The intervention group received additional CBL using 3 different scenarios for 1 hour per week during 4 weeks from May to June, 2016. Data were analyzed by a chi-square test, t-test and ANCOVA using SPSS WIN 18.0 RESULTS: The mean score of critical thinking disposition (F=11.60, p=.001), communication ability (F=4.24, p=.043), and self-directed learning ability (F=4.75, p=.032) were significantly higher in intervention group than those in control group. But there was no significant difference between the two groups in problem solving ability (F=1.59, p=.211). CONCLUSION: The application of a CBL program during a pathophysiology course was effective in improving the critical thinking disposition, and the self-directed learning ability of sophomore nursing students.

4.Alterations of the TSH Levels in the Breast Feeding Newborn Infants after the Mother's Eating Brown Seaweed Soup.

PURPOSE: After delivery, eating brown seaweed soup is a typical Korean tranditional habit. But, excessive intake of iodine transiently inhibits biosynthesis and secretion of thyroid hormones if a certain threshold of iodine is reached in the serum. The aim of our study was to demonstrate whether the observed the elevations of TSH level in the breast fed neonatal infants was caused by mother's eating brown seaweed soup or not. METHODS: We performed neonatal TSH test by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(FRELISA Screenig TSH) and cheked TSH level for 178 newborns with a appropriate gestational age. We divided the study subject into 3 groups, the group used breast feeding, mother had taken brown seaweed soup and blood sampled at 6th day after birth was categorized Group A, formular feeding, blood sampled at the 4th days after birth was categorized Group B, breast feeding and had taken brown seaweed soup and blood sampled at the 19th day after birth was categorized Group C. RESULTS: 1) The mean TSH level was 1.5+/-1.3 uU/ml in Group A, 3.3+/-2.5uU/ml in Group B, 1.7+/-l.3uU/ml in Group C(Group A vs Group B: p<0.05, Group A vs Group C: p<0.05). 2) There was no statistical significances between the TSH levels and the amount of brown seaweed soup which mother had one day, the duration which mother had brown seaweed soup and duration of breast feeding. CONCLUSIONS: Mother had taken brown seaweed soup about 3 times a day in korea at present days, There was no significant changes of TSH levels in the beast fed newborn infants after the korean mother had taken brown seaweed soup.

5.Job Satisfaction, Organizational Commitment and Turnover Intention among Male Nurses.

PURPOSE: This study aimed to investigate job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention among male nurses in South Korea. METHODS: Data were collected in May, 2013 and a total of 150 male hospital nurses participated in this study. Job satisfaction, organizational commitment and turnover intention were measured using a structured questionnaire. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 20.0 for windows. RESULTS: There were statistically significant correlations between job satisfaction and organizational commitment (r=.74, p<.001), job satisfaction and turnover intention (r=-.56, p<.001), and organizational commitment and turnover intention (r=-.69, p< .001). There was a statistically significant difference in job satisfaction of participants according to education, work unit, and salary. Organizational commitment showed significant difference according to age, education, work unit, and salary. Turnover intention was significantly different according to duration of employment in the hospital, and salary. The most influential factor for turnover intention was organizational commitment (beta=-.69, p<.001). This factor accounted for 47.8% of the variance in turnover intention. CONCLUSION: The results of this study indicate that to reduce turnover intention for men in nursing, it is necessary to increase job satisfaction, and organizational commitment.

6.Clinical Observation on Soft Contact Lenses.

Clinical observations were carried out in total 1,626 cases wearing fOft contact lenses made by International Contact Lens Lab. Seoul, Korea. The results of observation on 834 patients (1,626 eyes) fitted with the Hydrophilic Soft Contact Lenses for correction of refractive errors covering the period from November 1975 to October 1976 are as follows: 1) Good results are obtained fer myopia, hyperopia and aphakia. But corneal astigmatism exceeding +/-1.75 diopters was corrected unsatisfactorily. 2) 8.2% of 133 eyes among the total 1,626 eyes fitted with soft contact lenses were discontinued weanng. 3) Physical properties of ICL polymer 1936 are obtained good results when we compared with another company made.

8.Parents' Knowledge and Attitudes Regarding a Screening Test for and Subsequent Management of Students' Emotional and Behavioral Problems.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate parents' perceptions and attitudes regarding a screening test for and subsequent management of students' emotional and behavioral problems. METHODS: A descriptive research design was used, and included disproportional stratified and cluster random sampling. The sample comprised 223 parents of elementary, middle, and high school students. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Chi-squared test, and ANOVA with SPSS/WIN 21.0. RESULTS: Overall, parents responded that they knew of the goals, types, and tools of screening tests for students' emotional and behavioral problems. In total, 64.6% of parents reported having information for the screening test in advance. Only 13.5%(n=30) of students had emotional and behavioral problems in the last year. Among these students, 56.7%(n=17) were referred to mental health facilities but only 29.4%(n=5) of them received ongoing management from these facilities. CONCLUSION: These findings suggest that parents should receive information about the screening test for and subsequent management of students' emotional and behavioral problems. Health professionals need to build strategies to provide ongoing management for students who have emotional and behavioral problems.

10.The effect of case-based learning based on flipped learning for nursing students

Purpose:
The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of case-based learning based on flipped learning in a pathophysiology course for nursing students.
Methods:
Participants were sophomore nursing students enrolled in a pathophysiology course. The experimental group (n=42) received the case-based learning in class after similar case-based learning in a pre-class based on flipped learning, while the control group (n=39) received the usual flipped learning. Data were analyzed by χ2-test, independent t-test, and ANCOVA using SPSS WIN 21.0.
Results:
There were significant differences in self-directed learning ability (F=10.93, p=.001), self-efficacy (F=5.45, p=.022), problem-solving ability (F=6.11, p=.016), and critical thinking disposition (F=6.76, p=.011) between the experimental group and the control group.
Conclusion
The application of case-based learning based on flipped learning in a pathophysiology course for nursing students was effective in improving problem-solving and self-directed learning abilities, self-efficacy, and the critical thinking disposition of sophomore nursing students.
