The telemedicine is emerging as a new way of medical practice. It will provide more cooperative activity between hospitals and more comfortable access for disabled patients home. We developed a telemedicine system which is aimed to be run on the broadband-intergrated services digital network (B-ISDN). The multimedia database is adjusted to those information about patients that is directly relevant to a doctor's diagnosis. The user interface is designed to help doctors to communicate easily. The key elements of telemedicine systems were designed for user friendly interface and We implemented the pilot system to confirm the usefulness of the system.

Journal of Korean Society of Medical Informatics 2006;12(3):239-249
OBJECTIVE: The advancement of computing capabilities and increase of available network bandwidths have resulted in an emergency telemedicine services which can provide high quality medical services. However, existing telemedicine systems mainly have offered a one to one communication configuration instead of a multi-connection configuration. Therefore, we suggested a hybrid multimedia telemedicine system to support the multi-patients services in wired and wireless (heterogeneous) network environments. METHODS: We designed the hybrid multimedia telemedicine system consisting of 4 sub-systems, a patient system, a doctor system, a emergency monitoring system, and a multi-control server system. The patient system could deliver multimedia data of a patient to the emergency monitoring system or to the doctor system according to link configuration. The link configuration was decided as 'Flowing', or 'By-passing' in accordance the connection type of patient systems or doctor systems. At this time, as the multi-control server system considers the hybrid network, it monitored the patient's multimedia data and the state of emergency telemedicine services. RESULTS: The hybrid multimedia telemedicine system including the multi-control server system performed the best communication configuration over heterogeneous networks. This system achieved high quality emergency telemedicine services through dynamic wired and wireless networks at real-time. CONCLUSION: This study represented a hybrid multimedia telemedicine system over heterogeneous networks in emergency cases. We expected that the designed system could provide not only the high quality services, tele-diagnosis and tele-consultation, but also the effective emergency telemedicine services to multi-patients in the heterogeneous network environments.

The Korean Journal of Nutrition 2004;37(4):310-315
The purposes of this study were to: a) develop the quality assessment tool of Web-based Instruction (WBI) for nutrition education, b) evaluate the operated WBI (NutriZone) by this tool, and c) do the feasibility study about quality assessment tool for WBI by establishing the instruction and operating strategies. The developed quality assessment tool of WBI for nutrition education was divided into three categories of instructional design, contents and support & operation. And a total of forty items were measured by Likert 5 point scale, computed as one point per item, and amounted to forty points in all. As a result of evaluation, NutriZone got 21.79 out of 40 points and fulfillment rate of 54.5%. The IPA (Importance-Performance Analysis) was applied to establish the instruction and operating strategies, and nine items characterized as attractiveness, multimedia, and learner-initiative were in 'Doing Great, Keep It Up', and so it was regarded as program designed with concern in WBI's characteristics unlike the conventional face-to-face education. But twelve items such as 'Errors on switch to other screens are few.', 'Ready correction leads to be out of systemic error.', 'Highlight marks and moving pictures were used in sign of importance.' and etc. that got high importance and low performance needed to be focused in instructional strategy.

Journal of Korean Society of Medical Informatics 2003;9(2):101-110
The aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a web-based learning program with multimedia ECG monitoring for clinical nurses. For this, we compared the self-directed, web-based learning method with the traditional lecture method. A quasiexperimental, nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used, the data from 32 nurses(17 for experimental group and 15 for control group) were collected from October 1 to November 30, 2001, and analysed by SPSS program with x2 test, ttest, ANCOVA. The results were as follows : 1) There was significant improvement in the score on learning achievement of the experimental group compared with that of the control group(t=-2.739, p=.010). 2) There was no significant difference between the groups in learning motivation(t=-.054, p=.4785). In conclusion, it is suggested that a higher learning achievement was achieved in self-directed, web-based learning than in the traditional classroom style learning. There was also evidence that two educational styles had same effect in creating motivation. We propose to utilize a self-directed, web-based leaning method as a means to continue life-long education for nurses on a rotational duty system.

Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 2000;41(1):205-214
Several tests have been used for assessing color vision but most of them are nonspecific, expensive, complicated or too time consuming to perform. We have developed a new computerized color vision test named Seohan computerized 85-hue test[SCHT/85]that has many advantages compared to Farnsworth Munsell[FM]100-hue test.SCHT/85 has 85 color caps which can be displayed based on a model of FM 100-hue test using Multimedia toolbook 4.0.Selected color caps in the lower random area can be moved and inserted to the upper result area by a mouse. At the end of the test, error scores and ring graph can be displayed in monitor and can be also printed out. Total 15 subjects performed with SCHT/85 and FM 100-hue test twice who have been showed 10 normal and 5 abnormal color vision reported with other color vision tests and the results of two tests were analysed to compare the total error scores[TES]and reproducibility. All ten normal subjects showed lower TES in SCHT/85 than FM 100-hue test and the mean TES were 31.5 and 43.6 with SCHT/85 and FM 100-hue test. The coefficients of variation [CV]were 4.3%and 22.7%with SCHT/85 and FM 100-hue test. The two tests were highly correlated[r=0.92].Five abnormal subjects showed higher TES in SCHT/85 than FM 100-hue test and the mean TES were 169.8 and 157.3 with SCHT/85 and FM 100-hue test. The coefficients of variation were 9.1%and 21.2%with SCHT/85 and FM 100-hue test. These two tests were also highly correlated[r=0.965]. In conclusion, SCHT/85 which was newly developed by authors is a highly useful test for color vision.

9.Construction and Evaluation of Soonchunhyang University Hospital"s Computer Information Network.
Journal of Korean Society of Medical Informatics 1997;3(2):185-191
These days, the computer network has become the most popular and widely used source of information. There are two kinds of computer networks, the first one is multimedia internet world wide web site and the second one is text based commercial network (etc. Hitel, Chollian. Nownuri, Unitel). With the rapid development of internet, various kinds of medical-related sites are newly appearing on the internet. Even in Korea, several medical-related information sites are on service, however, there are very few compared with foreign sites. World wide web is popular, and creating the homepage for each hospital is becoming more important. In Korea, the number of homepage of about medicine and medical institutes, is increasing. For the construction of Soonchunhyang University Hospital's Computer Information Network, the authors first investigate Korean medical-related information sites available in internet and commercial network. After researching the authors then construct the Computer Information Network of Soonchunhyang University Hospital. This article is written with the intent of assisting those interested in creating and managing their own computer information network system by means of providing relevant data obtained during this process.
