Most of the maxillary first premolar are single-rooted,there are also two-rooted and three-rooted ones.A case of three-rooted maxillary first premolar was diagnosed by CBCT.CBCT has the advantage in the observation of the variation root number,root canal bending and the variation of root canal morphology.

Objective:To investigate the effectiveness of immunoFISH technology in detecting tumor cells in cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) for adjuvant diagnosis of meningeal metastasis from lung cancer. Methods:Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) were detected by im-munoFISH technology in CSF samples from 16 patients with meningeal metastasis from lung cancer and 8 patients with non-tumorous brain diseases. Meningeal metastasis from lung cancer was diagnosed on the basis of neurological symptoms and confirmed by en-hanced magnetic resonance imaging and CSF cytological examination. Results:The number of CTCs was significantly greater in pa-tients with meningeal metastasis from lung cancer than in those with non-tumorous brain diseases (P<0.01). The critical point of the maximum correct diagnosis index (Youden index) was regarded as the judging criterion for the positive tumor cells in CSF based on the receiver operating characteristic curve. When one tumor cell existed in 7.5 mL of CSF, the area under the curve was 0.875, and the 95%confidence interval ranged from 0.705 to 1.000. The diagnostic sensitivity, specificity, effectiveness, positive predictive values, and neg-ative predictive values were 75.0%, 100.0%, 83.3%, 100.0%, and 66.7%, respectively. Conclusion:ImmunoFISH technology provides great significance in detecting CTCs in CSF to diagnose meningeal metastasis from lung cancer.

Objective To explore the feasibility of tubeless 2 μm laser vaporesection in treating pediatric ureter cysts by ureteroscopy.MethodsClinical data of 33 ureter cysts patients who received tubeless 2 μm laser vaporesections by ureteroscopy were reviewed. The median age of patients was 4 years with a range from 1 to 7 years. The operations were carried out by RevoLix 2 μm laser through ureteroscopy without ureter stents and catheters indwelling.ResultsAll operations were successfully performed. And no serious complications occurred after the operations.ConclusionsTubeless transurethral 2 μm laser treatment by ureteroscopy was a superior micro-invasive surgery method for pediatrics with ureter cysts, with advantages of little blood loss, high safety, convenient operation and infrequent complications.

Objective To study the influence of central obesity on clustering of other metabolic syndrome (MS) risk variables among adults with normal body mass index.Methods Through cluster multistage and random sampling methods,local people aged ＞35 years old with normal body mass index (BMI=18.5-24.9 kg/m2) in Lanxi country were selected.Overnight fasting blood specimens of these people were collected.Chi-square test,analysis of covariance,and logistic regression analyses were performed.Results (1) 1821 residents were surveyed including 844 male and 977 female subjects.The overall prevalence of MS was 8.68％ and the overall prevalence of central obesity was 15.87％.Both prevalence rates of the two diseases appeared to be lower in males than in females(MS:3.32％ vs.13.31％; center obesity:5.57％ vs.24.77％,all P＜0.001 ).(2) The overall positive rate of clustering on other MS risk variable was 36.02％,with 34.12％ in males and 37.67％ in females.Comparing the subjects who did not have central obesity,those subjects wth central obesity had higher positive rate in other MS risk variables.(3) Data from analysis of covariance showed that the level of waist circumference appeared an upward trend along with the count of other MS risk variables (all P＜0.001 ).(4) Data from multivariable logistic regression analysis showed that central obesity was a risk factor on clustering of other MS risk variables.Conclusion Control the level of waist circumference among normal body mass index was an effective method in preventing metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular disease in adults.

Objective: To observe the effects of herb-partitioned moxibustion and ginger-partitioned moxibustion on the growth of colon tumors in rats with colitis-associated colon cancer (CACC), and explore the mechanism of moxibustion intervening CACC through the purinergic receptor P2X ligand-gated ion channel 7 (P2X7R)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3)/vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) pathway. Methods: A total of 26 male Sprague-Dawley rats were selected. According to the random number table method, 6 rats were selected as the normal group. The remaining 20 rats were injected intraperitoneally with azoxymethane (AOM) combined with oral dextran sodium sulfate (DSS) to prepare the CACC model. After the model was successfully established, 2 rats were randomly selected for model identification. The remaining 18 rats which were successfully modeled were randomly divided into a model group, a herb-partitioned moxibustion group and a ginger-partitioned moxibustion group, with 6 rats in each group. Moxibustion intervention was performed in the herb-partitioned moxibustion group and the ginger-partitioned moxibustion group at Qihai (CV 6) and bilateral Tianshu (ST 25). Moxibustion was performed twice at each point each time, once a day, at a 1-day interval after 6 consecutive interventions, for a total of 30 interventions. After intervention, the colon tumor load, pathological change and histopathological score were observed. Immunohistochemistry was used to detect the expressions of VEGF, P2X7R, phospho-STAT3 (p-STAT3), and nuclear factor-kappa B p65 (NF-κB p65) proteins in rat colon tissue. Western blot was used to detect the levels of p-STAT3 and NF-κB p65 proteins in rat colon tissue. Results: Compared with the normal group, the colon tumor load and histopathological score in the model group were significantly increased (both P<0.001), and different grades of dysplasia were observed in colon tissue from the model group, reaching the degree of adenocarcinoma; the expression level of P2X7R protein in colon tissue was significantly decreased (P<0.001), and the expression levels of p-STAT3, NF-κB p65 and VEGF proteins were significantly increased (all P<0.001) in the model group. Compared with the model group, the colon tumor load, colon histopathological score and the levels of p-STAT3, NF-κB p65 and VEGF proteins in colon tissue were significantly decreased (all P<0.05) in the herb-partitioned moxibustion group and the ginger-partitioned moxibustion group while the expression levels of P2X7R protein in colon tissue were significantly increased (both P<0.05). Conclusion: Both herb-partitioned moxibustion and ginger-partitioned moxibustion can reduce the colon tumor load in CACC rats and delay the progression of colon adenomas. The mechanism may be mediated by the P2X7R/STAT3 pathway to inhibit STAT3 phosphorylation, thereby reducing VEGF protein expression.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the pathological characters and anatomic correction of penile epispadias.

METHODSThe urethra was formed by local urethra plate mucosa flaps. The contracture on dorsum of penis was released by cutting off the superficial suspensory ligament to reposition the penile and urethral sponge.

RESULTSFrom Jun. 2004 to Dec. 2010, 26 cases with penile epispadias were treated. 18 cases were followed up for 6 months to 5 years. 10 cases were treated successfully with good cosmetic and functional results. Urinary incontinence happened in 8 cases, which healed after tightening operation.

CONCLUSIONSThe anatomic correction of penile epispadias can recover the normal anatomic structure, resulting good cosmetic and functional results.

Objective To investigate the associations between polymorphisms of organic cation transporter OCTN1/2 (organic cation transporter 1/2) and the susceptibility of Crohn' s disease (CD) through a meta-analysis.Methods Databases of PubMed,EMBASE,MedLine,and CNKI (Chinese),Wanfang (Chinese) were searched for published case control studies on the association between polymorphisms of OCTN1/2 gene and the susceptibility of CD which were published before September 2012.The meta-analysis was applied with Review Manager 4.2 software and Stata 10.0 software.Results Nineteen eligible studies,including 14 from Europeans,3 from Asians,1 from Oceania,and 1 from the US were included in the meta-analysis.In total,significant associations were found between OCTN1/2 polymorphisms and the susceptibility of CD for all genetic models.In subgroup analyses,significant associations were found in the European population for OCTN1/2.Associations were not significant in the non-European population for OCTN1 (TT vs.CT:OR=1.25,95％CI:0.75-1.98,P=0.34; TT vs.CC+CT:OR=l.48,95％CI:0.95-2.29,P=0.08) and for OCTN2 (CC vs.GC:OR=1.03,95％CI:0.68-1.56,P=0.89; CC vs.GG + GC:OR=1.23,95％CI:0.83-1.82,P=0.31).However,there were significant associations found between OCTN1/2(TT vs.CC,TT+CT vs.CC,CC vs.GG,CC + GC vs.GG) polymorphisms and the susceptibility of CD found in the nonEuropean population.Conclusion Results from this meta-analysis suggested that OCTN1/2 polymorphisms were associated with the susceptibility of CD in the European population.Associations between OCTN1/2 polymorphisms and the susceptibility of CD in the non-European population required searching for large samples to confirm the findings.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the morphological change of masseter after the mandibular angle osteotomy.

METHODSComputerized tomography (CT) examination was performed on 120 patients treated by mandibular angle osteotomy before operation and at 3, 6, 12 months after operation, respectively. The pre- and postoperative masseter muscle thickness and cross-sectional area were evaluated using 3D CT images observed from 3 selected slice planes, which were paralleled with Frankfurt horizontal plane. These CT images were stored and three-dimensional reconstruction were made for calculation of masseter muscle volume through software.

RESULTSAfter operation, the reduction of the masseter muscle volume and cross-sectional area was seen. The volume of the masseter at 3, 6, 12 months postoperatively decreased to 82.02%, 77.00% and 80.43% (P < 0.05). The cross-sectional area at 3, 6,12 months postoperatively decreased to 85.81%, 78.86% and 81.56% at A plane, 80.94%, 75.03% and 77.04% at B plane, and reached to 13.46%, 11.48% and 13.89% at C plane (P < 0.05, P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The masseter thickness after operation was significantly different from that before operation during the follow-up period, but not at 12 months after operation at A plane.

CONCLUSIONSThe masseter atrophy happens spontaneously after mandibular angle osteotomy, especially at the region of mandibular angle. It should be considered during surgical design.

OBJECTIVETo study the clinicopathologic and immunohistochemical features, biological behavior, diagnosis and treatment of solid pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas (SPTP).

METHODSA retrospective clinical and clinicopathologic analysis was made on 33 cases of SPTP admitted from May 2001 to 2010 July. There were 7 male and 26 female patients, aging from 13 to 66 years with a mean of 34.3 years.

RESULTSThe tumor was located in pancreatic head of 10 patients, in pancreatic neck of 5 patients, in pancreatic body and tail of 18 patients. Of the 33 patients treated with surgery, 8 underwent simple resection of pancreatic tumor, 6 underwent pancreaticoduodenectomy, 3 underwent tumor resection plus pancreaticojejunostomy, 1 underwent tumor resection plus pancreaticogastrostomy, 11 underwent distal pancreatectomy, 4 underwent distal pancreatectomy plus spleen resection (1 underwent mesohepatectomy for hepatic metastasis). Sixteen of the 33 operations were completed by laparoscopy. Histologically, tumors were composed of papillary and microcystic solid structures, with uniformed population of cells. The pancreas and blood vessels invasion were identified in 3 cases, one of them was combined with liver metastasis, and they are male. Immunohistologically, the tumors were positive for α1-antitrypsin, α1-antichymotrypsin, β-catenin, CD10, CD56 and vimentin (all cases), neuron-specific enolase (3 cases), synaptophysin (6 cases), chromogranin A (4 cases), progesterone receptor (28 cases), estrogen receptor (3 cases), S-100 (6 cases). Totally 33 cases were followed up with a median period of 49 months without tumor recurrence.

CONCLUSIONSSPTP is of low graded malignancy. It primarily affects young women. It may be located in any part of pancreas. Immunohistochemistry is very important for the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of SPTP. Surgical resection is recommended as the treatment of choice. Laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy or tumor resection is feasible and safe for some selected patients, and the prognosis is good.
