Atopic dermatitis is a common chronic inflammatory skin disease, associated with marked inflammatory cells (of mast cells and eosinophils) and severe itching, which leads to clinical problems in the pediatric population. This study was designed to investigate the inhibitory effects of luteolin liposome solution, that is entrapped the hydrophobic luteolin (one of the flavonoids) into ethosome to improve its stability, by using hapten-induced atopic dermatitis animal model (NC/Nga mice).The luteolin liposome treated mice showed anti-inflammatory effect as evidenced by the lowering of erythema and edema in clinical observation, reduction of inflammatory cell infiltration and epidermal thickness in histopathological examination, when compared with TNCB induced controls. Luteolin liposome solution also reduced the serum IgE level which played important roles in the atopic dermatitis model. These results suggest that luteolin liposome solution has some merit in this formulation showing inhibitory effects for the atopic dermatitis.

BACKGROUND: Some research viewed that effective dietary therapy was enough to control proper blood glucose level, but in the most patient, dietary therapy was not practiced and the most difficult part of managing their diabetes. The purpose of this research study was to investigate dietary practice adherence and perceived barriers among the elderly diabetes. METHODS: The survey was mailed to 852 persons with diabetes member via diabetic educator of 156 hospitals or clinics and 24 health centers. Questionnaire had background information of patients, meal regularity, food intake as a dietary practice adherence, barriers of 36 items which have 3 areas such as motive/attitude, knowledge, authority/resource. We asked the person with diabetes to rate barrier to dietary practice adherence. 432 questionnaire were returned the response. we selected 69 persons who were over 65 year old. RESULTS: 1) meal regularity was more satisfactory than food intake. 2) deficit of meal regularity were evening snack and resonable spacing between evening meal and evening snack. 3) deficit of food intake was serving of milk. 4) main barrier to dietary practice adherence was that of knowledge. CONCLUSION: For practice effectively dietary therapy to elderly diabetes, individual consultation or small group education must be pursued and more easily educational skills should be required.

Recent case reports of the successful application of electroejaculation techniques for seminal emission and subsequent pregnancies have offered promising fertility alternative for the men with neurogenic anejaculation. The success of his program requires multidisciplinary couple-oriented therapy combining both turologic and gynecologic infertility therapy. However, despite obtaining often normal numbers of spermatozoa. sperm motility rarely exceeds 10-20% in electroejaculation sample. Therefore, realistic potential for pregnancy with intrauterine insemination technique is extremely low. In this report we present the first domestic successful coordination of both electroejaculation and in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer in a neurogenic anejaculation patient with severe oligoasthenospermia.

The dumping syndrome has been a known complication of gastric surgery in adults, but it is recognized as a very rare disease in the pediatric population, especially in Korea. We report a case of dumping syndrome in a 10-month-old infant, who underwent Nissen fundoplication for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux(GER). He was admitted because of aspiration pneumonia, and diagnosed as GER by 24-hour ambulatory esophageal pH monitoring test. For the treatment of GER, Nissen fundoplication was performed. After the operation, symptoms occurred within 30 minutes of meals, such as diaphoresis, palpitation, weakness, abdominal fullness, nausea, and diarrhea. The gastric emptying scan showed very rapid gastric emptying. His oral glucose tolerance tests revealed early-onset hyperglycema followed by delayed-onset hypoglycemia, which was the characteristic finding of the dumping syndrome. We introduced uncooked cornstarch to resolve symptoms and maintain the serum glucose level. After the feeding of uncooked cornstarch, his symptoms subsided and normal oral glucose test was restored. After the six months of treatment, his weight and height were increased dramatically from below 3 percentiles up to the normal range. The dumping syndrome should be considered when an infant suffers from the feeding difficulties after the gastric surgery like Nissen fundoplication, and the diet therapy including uncooked cornstarch could be applied as an effective measure.
