Freys syndrome is characterized by attacks of facial erythema and gustatory sweating occurring in the cutaneous distribution of the auriculotemporal nerve. After sugery, trauma, abscess, or other diseases of the parotid gland, the postganglionic sympathetic and parasympathetic nerve fibers are disrupted. Some misdirected auriculotemporal nerve fibrils join with the distal sympathetic nerves innervating the sweat glands and subcutaneous vessels. We report a case of Freys sindrome in a 6-year old boy without any definite injury to the parotid gland. After considering our case and review of literature of Freys syndrome in children, we conclude that there may be a congenital defect in the auriculotemporal nerve innervation responsible for cases occuring in children.

True cysts of the pancreas are rare, and enterogeous (duplication) cysts are extremely rare. We describe a case of enterogenous cyst of the pancreas located in the retroperitoneum, in which homogenous low attenua-tion, multiloculation, internal septation and cyst wall calcification were noted.

The MR images of 13 patients with brain abscesses were retrospectively reviewed. The abscesses were solitary in 11 patients and multiple in 2 patients. They were located in the corticomedullary junction of the cerebral hemispheres(11) and cerebellum (2).: The sizes of the abscesses were variable, ranging from 1 cm to 5 cm in diameter. They were round (5), oblong (4) or multilobulated (4) in shape. Massive surrounding edema was found in 12 patients. The signal intensity of the abscess contents was hypointense to gray matter and hyperintense to CSF on T1-weighted images, and hyperintense to gray matter on both proton-density-and T2-weighted images. In 5 patients the abscess contents were heterogeneous on both T1-and T2-weighted images. The signal intensity of the abscess walls was isointense(11), slightly hyperintense (1) or hypointense (1) relative to gray matter on T1-weighted images, whereas they were isointense (4) or hypointense (9) on T2-weighted images. Of 10 patients with Gd-enhanced-T1-weighted images, 5 patients(50%) showed thin, smooth, rim enhancement, while the other 5 patients revealed somewhat irregular thick wall enhancement Satellite or daughter abscesses were found in 6 patients. Meningeal or ventricular wall enhancement suggesting meningitis or ventriculitis was associated in 3 and 1 patient, respectively. In conclusion, the characteristic morphology and intensity of the abscess capsule, massive surrounding edema, satellite abscess and associated meningitis or ventriculitis are characteristics of the brain abscess, even though they are not entirely specific to allow for accurate diagnosis in all patients.

Since 1985, authors have applied a cast ring around the reconstructed pully involving adjacent one normal digit and allowed early dynamic motion after one stage tenolysis or tendon graft in 24 digits of 16 patients with old flexor tendon injuries in zone II. With this ring technique, authors obtained satisfactory results in 80% of the patients, which proved to be as good as two stage flexor tendon reconstruction with silicone rodding. A cast ring allowed early active motion after tenolysis and early dynamic passive motion after tendon graft. It served as temporary external augmentation of the reconstructed pully and seemed to reduce the tension at the reconstruced tendon and pully. One stage flexor tendon reconstruction and early dynamic motion with ring technique was advantageous in shortening of morbidity and postoperative rehabilitation period, and eliminating complications from silicone rodding.

Eosinophilic gastroenteritis is a rare disease characterized by tissue eosinophilia that can involve different layers of the gut wall and cause various gastrointestinal symptoms. We describe the UGI and CT findings of a case of diffuse eosinophilic gastroenteritis with tumor-like antral obstruction due to thickening of the submu-cosa and muscle layer in a 21-year-old male.

Authors observed the antihypertensive effect of debrisoquin sulfate in 35 cases of essential hypertension and following results were obtained. 1) Results of short term control of blood pressure with debrisquin in 35 hypertensive patients revealed good control in 74.3%, fair in 14.3%, poor in 5.7% and failure in 5.7% of cases. Significant reduction of blood pressure was achieved in 7 of 9 cases of hypertension with addition of hydrochlorthiazide to debrisoquin. 2) During long term therapy with debrisoquin (duration of average 3.9 months), good control cases were slightly reduced(good in 58.6%, fair in 24.1%, poor in 6.9%, failure in 10.3%). But average effective dose of debriioquin was not increased significantly. 3) Antihypertensive effect of debrisoquin was slightly reduced in the cases of severe hypertension, hypertension of over 10 years duration and complication of cerebrovascular accident. 4) The side effects during treatment with debrisoquin were dizziness in 31.4%, headache in 11.4%, dry mouth, blurred vision, general weakness, insomnia in 8.6% respectively. There were no side effects in 48.6% of cases.
