Journal of the Korean Society for Therapeutic Radiology 1989;7(1):23-28
Forty-four patients with brain astrocytoma and glioblastoma were treated with surgical resection and postoperative radiation from January 1980 through May 1987. Four patients were lost to follow up, and in 40 patients sruvival time was evaluable. Three year actuarial sruvival rate was 66.7% in Grade I and II astrocytoma, 30% in Grade III, and 20.4% in glioblastoma multiforme patients. The prognostic factors affecting survival rate were histologic grade in all cases, age, and total radiation dose in Grade III and glioblastoma.

3.Radiation Therapy of Pituitary Tumors.
Moon Baik PARK ; Seong Eong HONG
Journal of the Korean Society for Therapeutic Radiology 1989;7(2):185-188
Radiation treatment results were analyzed in a retrospective analysis of 47 patients with pituitary adenoma treated with radiation alone or combined with surgery from 1974 through 1987 at the Department of Therapeutic Radiology of Kyung Hee University. The 5-year overall survival rates for all patients was 80.4%. Radiation therapy was effective for improving visual symptoms and headache, but could not normalize amenorrhea and galactorrhea. There was no difference of survival rate between radiation alone and combination with surgery. Prognostic factors such as age, sex, disease type, visual field, headache and surgical treatment were statistically no significant in survival rates of these patients.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1986;24(2):288-291
We report herein a case of subcutaneous granuloma annulare occured in a 3-year-old girl who had 7 subcutaneous nodules on the scalp, lumbar area, buttock, right tibial area and both ankles. liistopathologically, multiple foci of complete and incomplete collagen degeneration surrounded by histiocytes in a palisading arrangement were seen in the subcutaneous layer. Some vessel walls were thickened and infiltrated with inflammatory cells and many eosinophils were scattered among the inflamrnatory cell infiltrate around the palisaiing granuloma. Five of the lesions disappeared spontaneously and other s decreased in size without specific treatment in 2 months.

Annals of Dermatology 2003;15(2):85-88
Kimura's disease is a benign, uncommon, chronic inflammatory condition that usually presents with painless subcutaneous nodules or plaques. Head and neck are the most frequently involved sites in Kimura's disease. Mandible is the most commonly involved, followed by neck, cheek, scalp and forehead. Other possible sites are oral cavity, inguinal area and extremities, but there have been no reports involving the nose, especially the one that looks like a rhinophyma. We describe a case of Kimura's disease presenting like a rhinophyma.

Annals of Dermatology 1989;1(2):107-110
Subungual exostosis are not uncommon, however, they are infrequently mentioned in the dermatologic literature. We report herein a rase of subungual exostosis in the great toe of 16-year-old female student which was confirmed by histopathologic and radiologic findings. Histopathologic examination showed that the mass was ooeered by a dense fibrous tissue which merged into a fibrocartilage cap and bone. Computed tomography showed a well defined, oval shaped, radiopacity of bony density capped by a radiolucency.

Fixation failure is a major complication of intertrochanteric fracture. The causes of fixation failure were assessed in a series of 80 patients with intertrochanteric fractures, which had been internally fixed with either a sliding hip screw or a Gamma interlocking nail. The overall rate of fixation failure was 16.3%, in which the cutting-out of the implant from the femoral head was the only cause of the instance. The cutting-out rate was influenced by the accuracy of fracture reduction, the position of implant placement within the femoral head, and the bone mineral density. Anatomical reduction and the central placement of implant within the femoral head showed the most excellent results compared to other treatment modalities. Age, gender, fracture type and a kind of fixation implant had no significant effect. Our results showed that the intertrochanteric fractures should be reduced as anatomically as possible and it is essential that the central placement of the implant within the femoral head be obtained.
