Objective To summarize the theoretic evidence of Shenmen (HT7) Point in the treatment of insomnia and its action mechanism, for guiding clinical application. Method The reasons and evidences for using acupuncture at Shenmen to treat insomnia were summarized from the following 3 aspects: records in the ancient literatures, clinical application, and modern medical studies. Result Acupuncture at Shenmen can produce a calming and sedative effect, and it should be one of the optimal choices for treating insomnia due to its significant efficacy; it calms the mind and improves sleep quality via activating the nervous center for regulating sleep and promoting the secretion of neurotransmitters such as 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) in brain. Conclusion Acupuncture at Shenmen is an effective method is treating insomnia.

Chinese Journal of Analytical Chemistry 2010;38(2):296-298
The sample introduction system of a cool vapor atomic fluorescence spectrometer made domestically was modified for taking the mercury vapor which was pre-concentrated in a capture mercury gold cartridge as gold amalgam generated on-line by pyrolyzing atmospheric particulate collected from an air conditioner. The temperatures that applied) to sample pyrolyzer to generate elemental mercury and capture mercury gold cartridge to release mercury from amalgam were 700-750 ℃ and 550 ℃, respectively. The carrier Ar flow rate was 120 mL/min. The method detection limit was 1 pg, mercury content showed a linear relationship in 0-1.5 ng), and RSD was 2.2%. The method was validated by determining mercury in the national soil standards) GBW07410. The method was Applied to determine the mercury content in the atmospheric particulate from a hospital air conditioner.

Objective To investigate the clinic effect of trans-artery intrahepatic transplantation of porcine islet in type 1 diabetic patients. Methods Four patients with type 1 diabetes were perfused newborn porcine islets through the hepatic artery.Fasting blood glucose(FBS), postprandial blood glucose (PBS), HBA1,dose of insulin and function of liver and kidney were measured before and after the transplantation. Results The levels of FBS,PBS and HBA1 were 7 4~13 5mmol/L,7 8~18 6mmol/L and 7 8~12 0mmol/L respectively before the transplantation. During one and half years after transplantation, the levels of FBS,PBS and HBA1 were 3 3~7 1mmol/L,6 0~8 8mmol/L and 6 4~7 6mmol/L respectively with notably reduced dosage of insulin(32~58%).The function of liver and kidney of the patients remained normal. Conclusions Trans-artery intrahepatic transplantation of porcine islet is effective and safe for type 1diabetic treatment.

Objective To investigate the effect of the serum ferritin, folic acid and its clinical efficacy by Chinese angelica Astragalus decoction combined with Iron Sucrose Injection in the treatment of the anemia patients with chronic renal failure. Methods 66 anemia patients with chronic renal failure were selected and randomly divided into the control group and the experiment group with 33 cases in each group. The control group were treated by Venofer and the experiment group were treated on the base of the control group with Chinese angelica and Astragalus Decoction. The clinical curative effect before and after treatment, serum ferritin, folic acid(SF),serum creatinine(Scr),urea nitrogen(BUN),creatinine clearance rate(Ccr),blood uric acid(UA),cholesterol(TC),total cholesterol(TG),high density lipoprotein(HDL-C)were compared after 6 months of treatment and the adverse reaction conditions was compared during the treatment between two groups. Results The effective rate of treatment in the control group was 69.70%lower than that in the observation group, the effective rate was 90.91%,with statistical significance(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the SF and folic acid levels were lower, the Scr and BUN levels were lower, the Ccr and UA levels were higher, the TC and TG levelswere lower, the HDL-C level was higher, with statistical significance(P<0.05).Conclusion Angelica Astragalus decoction combined with Iron Sucrose Injection in the treatment of chronic renal failure patients with anemia effect is significant, can effectively reduce the level of serum ferritin and folic acid, the clinical effect is better.

Objective To study the expression of a novel inhibitor of apptosis and survivin in cervical carcinoma and its relationship to the expression of Bcl-2.Methods Using SP immunohistochemical technique, we examined the expression of survivin and Bcl-2 in 59 cervical invasive squamous cell carcinomas. Results Survivin was expressed in 41 of 59 cases(69.5%) of cervical carcinomas. In contrast, no expression of survivin in normal cervical tissues was observed. Overexpression of survivin was related to the tumor grade and clinical stage. Survivin positive cases were strongly associated with Bcl-2 expression(80% versus 35.7%;P<0.005).Conclusion Apoptosis inhibition by survivin abnormal expression, alone or in cooperation with Bcl-2, may participate in the onset and progression of cervical carcinoma. Survivin is a new diagnostic/therapeutic target in cervical cancer.

Objective: To investigate the antimotion sickness effects of ginsenosides combined with dexamethasone in rats. Methods: Fifty SD rats were randomly divided into 5 groups: normal saline, scopolamine-treated, ginsenosides-treated, dexamethasone-treated and ginsenosides plus dexamethasone-treated groups. There were 10 rats in each group. The rats in each group were fed with corresponding ingredients respectively, and then the rats were exposed to abnormal acceleration for one hour. The motion sickness index, the level of kaolin consumption and the course and time of spontaneous activity were observed. Results: The motion sickness index and the level of kaolin consumption of acceleration-exposed rats in ginsenosides plus dexamethasone-treated group were significantly lower than those in normal saline group. And the course and time of spontaneous activity of acceleration-exposed rats in ginsenosides plus dexamethasone-treated group were significantly higher than those in normal saline group. The level of body weight increment of acceleration-exposed rats in ginsenosides plus dexamethasone-treated group was significantly higher than that in dexamethasone-treated group. Conclusion: Ginsenosides combined with dexamethasone can significantly increase tolerance to acceleration of rats, and the drug combination can decrease side effects of methylprednisolone, such as body weight loss.

Objective Our purpose was to observe the renal pathological changes in the mouse modells of adriamy -cin-induced nephropathy in different periods .Method 48 healthy male BALB/c mice were randomly divided into control group and model group .The model group received a disposable tail vein injection of adriamycin 10.5 mg/kg body weight , and the control group received the same amount of saline .24-hour urinary protein , serum biochemical indexes and kidney pathological changes were dynamically observed for 12 weeks. Results Proteinuria of model mice appeared in the 2th week after ADR injection, which lasted to the end of the 12-week experiment, At the 8th week, the amount of urine protein reached a peak (P<0.05);The serum albumin was decreased at the 4th week, cholesterol was increased at 8th week.At the end of experiment, serum creatinine was also increased (P<0.05).Minimal change nephrotic syndrome (MCNS) was observed in model mice at the 4th week;the lesions in renal tissues at 8th weeks were more serious than that at 4th weeks, but glomerular sclerosis was unconspicuous .Focal segmental glomerulonephritis ( FSGS) was seen at the 12th week. The GSI of the model mice was(2.81 ±0.84)%, significantly higher than that of the control mice ((0.33 ±0.21)%) at 12th week(P<0.01).Conclusions A mouse model with adriamycin-induced-nephrosis can be successfully established by a disposable tail vein injection of adriamycin in a dose of 10.5 mg/kg body weight .The early manifest ation of this model is MCNS, and at a late stage , it may be changed into FSGS .
