Purpose：To study the expressions of p16 and CDK4 in human lung carcinoma. Methods：By using S-P immunohistochemical methods, the expressions of p16 and CDK4 in 62 cases of human lung carcnoma were studied. Results：The postive expressions for p16 and CDK4 protein were 58.1% and 48.4% respectively. A significant correlation was found between CDK4 overexpression and lymph node metastasis (P＜0.01). A significant correlation between the under expression of p16 and overexpression of CDK4 was found.Conclusions：The results suggested that CDK4 overexpression plays an important role in metastasis of lung carcinoma.

Objective To study the significance of expression of hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha(HIF-1?) in gastric mucosal diseases. Methods Using tissue chip technique to creat tissue chip in 120 cases of vary gastric mucosal disease,and using S-P immunohistochemical methods to detect the expressions of HIF-1? in these tissue chips. Results The positive rates of HIF-1? was 28.3% in 120 tissue chips of gastric mucosal diseases. The positive rates of HIF-1? was 0, 10.0%, 40.0% and 63.3% in chronic superficial gastritis, chronic atrophic gastritis with intestinal metaplasia, chronic atrophic gastritis with dysplasia and intestinal type gastric cancer, respectively. Objective To study the relationship between the activity of GSP ?, intestinal metaplasia(IM) of gastric mucosa, and proliferation typing.Method Immunohistochemical method was used to detect GSP ? in 167 cases undergoing biopsy or surgery ,among them slices of 112 pathology proved chronic atrophic gastritis(CAG) were counter stained by mucohistochemistry.Results[WT5”BZ] The result showed that the positive rates of GSP ? in gastric adenocarcinoma, CAG with IM or gastric dysplasia were significantly higher than in chronic superficial gastritis (CSG).The positive rate of GSP ? in high proliferation typing (HPT) was significantly higher than in middle or low proliferation typing ( MPT or LPT).Conclusion GSP ? activity could be used as a marker of precancerous lesions and HPT highly correlates to the occurence of gastric cancer.

Background Reliable intraocular pressure (IOP) measurement is essential in glaucomatous study.TonoLab is a newly designed tonometer for small animals,however,its repeatability and reproducibility remains unknown.Objective This study aimed to evaluate the repeatability and reproducibility of TonoLab rebound tonometer in DBA/2J mice.Methods Intraocular pressure was measured in both eyes of 63 DBA/2J mice aged 7 months under systemic anesthesia with TonoLab rebound tonometer.IOP of each eye was measured for 3 times by two observers independently and consecutively using TonoLab rebound tonometer,and the data were obtained in single blind method.Within standard deviation (Sw),interclass correlation coefficient (ICC),within coefficient of variation (CVw) and corresponding 95％ confidence interval (CI) were calculated to evaluate the repeatability of measuring result from single observer,and Bland-Altman method was used to assess the agreement between two observers.The abnormal data which affected repeatability was analyzed.Results Among the 126 eyes,105 eyes showed the normal IOP with mean value (12.98 ± 1.05) mmHg from observer 1 and (12.41 ±0.92) mmHg from observer 2.Ocular hypertension was found in 21 eyes with mean value (27.76 ± 1.95) mmHg and (27.49 ± 1.28) mmHg for observer 1 and observer 2 respectively.Sw,ICC and CVw for observer 1/observer 2 were 1.34/1.11 mmHg,0.90/0.92,8.24％/7.42％ in normal eyes and 2.21/1.49 mmHg,0.89/0.95,6.97％/4.82％ in hypertensive eyes.The average bias between two measuring values from different observers was 0.60 mmHg in the normal eyes (95％ CI:-5.20-6.30 mmHg) and 0.30 mmHg in the hypertensive eyes (95％ CI:-7.30-7.80 mmHg).Conclusions TonoLab rebound tonometer can offer a good intraobserver repeatability in both normal and hypertensive eyes in mice,but the agreement between two observers is outside an acceptable level.So we consider IOP in mice obtained by TonoLab rebound tonometer is reliable and accurate from a single observer.

Vanadium (V) is one of the trace elements It exists in many oxidation states which exhibit different biological activities. Our results in alloxan diabetic mice suggest that NaVO3 and VOSO4 can decrease blood glucose level. The hy-poglycemic effest of VOSO4 was found to be weaker than that of NaVO3, the toxicity ofVOSO4 is also lower. However VOSO4; showed no effect in normal mice. The mechanism of the hypoglycemic effect of VOSO4 appears to be similar to that of insulin.

Objective To analyse CT findings of pleural mensothelioma caused by crocodolite in their living environment.Methods CT findings of malignant pleural mensothelioma in 55 cases were reviewed and analyzed retrospectively.Results Of 55 cases there were localized pleural mensothelioma in 1 accompanied with less pleural effusion and malignant diffuse pleural mensothelioma in 54 ,of which 13 cases had no pleural effusion,30 cases had less or more effusion and 11 cases had a large amount of pleural effusion.In 4 cases,mensotheliomas localized in low-right thorax accompanied pleural effusion in left thorax.The CT findings of these four patients were pleural thickening more than 2 cm.The lesion was manifested as decorative border,nodule and mass of soft tissue and there was much enhancement.Conclusion CT scan is very helpful in detecting the location,extent of pleural mensothelioma and follow-up of patients.

ObjectiveTo observe the effect of rehabilitation treatment on the functional recovery in stroke patients with hemiplegia. Methods31 stroke patients with hemiplegia receiving rehabilitation treatment and physical therapy for one to two months were classified as treatment group, and at the same time another 30 stroke inpatients with hemiplegia were chosen for control group without receiving rehabilitation treatment. Two groups were compared to each other according to Fugl Meyer functional scores admision and discharge. ResultsFunctional scores of the two groups at discharge were higher than those at admision. Functional scores in the rehabilitation group were markedly higher than those in the control group(P<0.01). ConclusionsThe rehabilitation treatment has the significant effect on the functional recovery in stroke patients with hemiplegia.

The therapeutic effect of a natural foodstuffs--Wei-Luo powder (WLP)composed of high protein, various essential amino acids, vitamins (B1, B2 and E), and trace elements (Fe, Zn, etc), on both monosodium glutamate (MSG) induced obese mice and alloxan diabetic mice were tested. After 16 days of feeding with WLP diet, the body weight and accumulation of fat in liver and adipose tissue (Lee index) in MSG mice were decreased significantly, WLP diet also caused significant reduction in carbohydrate tolerance of mice as compared with wheat diet. In addition, improvement of hyperglycemia and diabetic symptoms (polydipsia, polyuria and hyperphagia) in alloxan diabetic mice were observed. These results suggest that WLP diet may be beneficial for obesity and diabetic patients.

A spectrophotometric method for the determination of calcium in milk, hair and urine was developed using metal complezing dye orthocresolphth-alein complexone(OCPC).The organic matter in the tested sample was destroyed by digestion. An aliquot of the digested solution was mixed with color developing reagent, alkaline OCPC, cantaining 8-quinolinol to suppress interference such as magnesium, and the absorbance was measured at 570 nm.The coefficients of variation were 0.87, 3.6 and 1.2% for milk, hair and urine samples; and the analytical recoveries of calcium from milk, hair and urine averaged 100.4, 101.0 and 98.5% respectively.
