1.VMC treatment and I Ching theory in febrile disease school

Objective To explore the influence from I Ching perception of febrile disease theory to the syndrome differentiation and treatment of Viral myocarditis.Methods Documentary study.Results The febrile disease theory gained certain reference from simple ontology and motion concept in ancient Chinese philosophy.VMC was caused by disorder of five evolutive phases and six climatic factors,transition from Kan diagram to Li diagram,together with the mixture of pathogenic qi.Treatment should mainly focus on eliminating pathogen and nourishing yin to coordinate water and fire,conforming to universe rules,and smoothing Qi to reduce blockage.Conclusion The cognitive perception,pathogenesis and treatment of febrile disease theory are all deeply influenced by I Ching.Therefore,the combination of I Ching and febrile disease theory in diagnosis and treatment of VCM will improve clinical effects,as well as featuring the cultural nature of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
2.Relationship between Testin expression and clinicopathological characteristics in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients.

OBJECTIVE:
To investigate the expression of Testin gene, and analyze its possible relationship with the clinicopathological features of human nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
METHOD:
The expression of Testin in nasopharyngeal carcinoma tissues were detected by immunohistochemistry methods, semi-quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction and Western blot. The correlations of Testin to clinicopathologic features of nasopharyngeal carcinoma were analyzed.
RESULT:
The positive expression rate of Testin in NPC biopsy tissue was 37.8% (17/ 45), while it was 88.9% (40/45) in the normal tissue; The expression of Testin mRNA was significantly lower than that in the normal tissue (P < 0.01); The expression levels of Testin protein in the NPC biopsy tissue by Western blot were lower than that in the normal tissue (P < 0.01); The expression of Testin in the tumor tissue had no significant correlation with sex, age (P > 0.05); but it had significant correlation with lympho node metastasis, distant metastasis and differentiation degree.
CONCLUSION
The decreased expression of Testin gene may play an importmant role in the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. And thus Testin gene might be a novel candidate of tumor-suppressor. It may be an objective marker for prognostic factor and malignant level for nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

3.Influence on Ni seperation from TiNi alloy by coating its surface with Ti or TiNb alloy

[Objective]To investigate the influence of Nitinol modified on its surfaces by the coating of titanium or titanium-niobium alloy on separat ion of Ni~(2+).[Method]The specimens from 1 to 7 days after the experiments were collected and the concentration of Ni~(2+) were cletermined by physiologic saline immersing test,low temperature ashing furnace,Mg(NO_3)_2 as matrix modifier and graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry(GFAAS).[Result]Specimens of Nitinol were devided into 3 groups:alloy coated with Ti(Ti group);alloy with Titanium-Niobium(TiNi group);only Nitanol without coating group.Obvious separation of Ni~(2+) was detected in the groups of Nitinol that were not modified and were put in baking oven(37℃),the separating procedure was mainly within 4 days,the separation rate(10~(-7)??g? cm~(-2)?s~(-1)) from the first to the forth days was 18.2,3.45,1.75 and 0.45 respectively,the Ni~(2+)was no more separated from the fifth day.Whereas,Ni~(2+) was not separated in the groups of Nitinol that were modified by the coating of metallic Ti and TiNb alloy.The recovery rate of the experiments was between 94.6%~108.6%.[Conclusion]The coating of Ti or TiNb on the surfaces of Nitinol stopped Nitinol from separating Ni~(2+).
4.Chromosomal aberration and micronucleus formation induced by sulfur mustard

Objective To study the effects of sulfur mustard on chromosomal aberration in Chinese hamster fibroblast cell line (CHL cells) and the micronucleus (MN) frequency in the bone marrow cells of mice. Methods CHL cells (with and without S9) treated with different concentrations of sulfur mustard for 24 h were harvested for the preparation of chromosome. Subsequently, the frequency and the type of chromosomal aberration were examined. The KM mice were sacrificed at 24 h after subcutaneous injection of sulfur mustard. The number of micronuclei-containing polychromatic erythrocytes (PCEs) was counted by means of bone marrow smear and Giemsa staining. Results Sulfur mustard might increase the chromosomal aberration frequency of CHL cell in a dose-dependent manner. S9 had no effects on the classificaiton and the frequency of chromosomal aberration. 5.Effects of Enalapril on hemodynamic indexes in cardiac shock dogs induced by acute right ventricular myocardial infarction

Objective To study the therapeutic effects of Enalapril on hemodynamic indexes in cardiac shock dogs induced by acute right ventricular myocardial infarction(RVMI).Methods Models of RVMI accompanied with cardiac shock were induced by ligating coronary artery.Dogs were randomly divided into three groups:control group,fluid replacement group and Enalapril group.The hemodynamie indexes including mean arterial pressure(MAP),cardiac output (CO),right atrial pressure(RAP)and right ventrieular systolic pressure(RVSP)were measured before and immediately after RVMI model establishment,and 1 hour and 1 week after the treatment.The therapeutic effects were evaluated. Results After rapid fluid replacement treatment,RAP became higher and the hemodynamics deteriorated.After Enalapril treatment,RAP decreased and CO increased.Conclusion When RVMI in large area occurs,fluid replacement would further deteriorate the heart function of left and right ventricles when RAP≥13 mmHg,and Enulapril fluid replacement would reduce the right ventricle load and improve shock.
6.tk gene mutation of L5178Y cells induced by sulfur mustard

Objective To detect the mutagenicity of sulfur mustard in the tk gene of L5178Y3.7.2c tk +/- mouse lymphoma cells. Methods The plating efficiency and the mutant frequency were detected by the microtiter procedure. Results Sulfur mustard induced tk locus mutation with mutation frequency 2-15 times higher than that of spontaneous mutation frequency of L5178Y3.7.2c tk +/- cells. There were two different phenotypes of mutation colonies induced, which were large and small colonies, but most of them were small colonies. Conclusion Sulfur mustard is characterized by marked mutagenic activity and cytotoxicity. The compound may result in large range of DNA damage.

8.Effect of hepatocyte growth factor on peripheral nerve regeneration

Objective To explore the effect of hepatocyte growth factor on peripheral nerve regeneration. Methods Sciatic nerve contusion injury was made by a custom-made clamp in Wistar rats,in which human hepatocyte growth factor expressed by adenoviral vector(Ad-HGF)was injected into the muscle around the injured nerve.The results of nerve regeneration were evaluated by sciatic nerve function index(SFI),muscle wet weight,neural electrophysiology and image analysis. Results Four weeks after sciatic nerve injury,the results of sciatic nerve function index(SFI),muscle wet weight,neural electrophysiology and image analysis showed better nerve regeneration in group injected with HGF than control group(P<0.05). Conclusion Hepatocyte growth factor can promote axon regeneration and functional recovery and is an effective neurotrophic factor for peripheral nerve regeneration after injury.

Objective To evaluate non-hazardous treatment efficiency of night soil in the three-grille mode septic tanks so as to give the evidence to government for policy-making. Methods One hundred and thirty normally runningthree-grille mode septic tanks were surveyed in five cities of Jiangsu Province in 2009. The fecal samples from first chamber and wastewater samples from third chamber were collected and examined for fecal coliform (FC) , parasite eggs including Schistosoma japonicum eggs, As-caris eggs and hookworm eggs, chemical oxygen demand ( COD), five-day chemical oxygen demand (BOD_5) and ammonia nitrogen (NH,-N) in lab. The data were analyzed by statistical software SPSS 13.0. Results The mean qualified rates of FC in the first chamber and third chamber of septic tanks were 3.1% and 100% respectively, showing significant difference (P <0.001). Hookworm eggs and Ascaris eggs were found in the first chamber of one and four septic tanks respectively and the density was one or two eggs in one hundred milliliter. The mean removal rates of FC, COD, BOD_5 and NH_3 -N were (99.96 ± 0.03) % , (60.69 ± 21.77) % , (60.13 ± 23. 20 ) % and (44. 14 ± 24.61) % , respectively. For the value of FC, COD, BOD, and NH_3 -N, there were significant difference between the first chamber and the third chamber (P_(FC) =0.000 1, P_(COD) =0.000 1, P_(BOD5) =0.000 1, P_(NH3-N) = 0.000 1, P < 0.001). Conclusion The treatment efficiency of septic tank could meet the sanitary standard for non-hazardous treatment of night soil, and it could use as a useful primary facility for human feces and urine treatment in rural areas.
10.Investigation on soil-transmitted nematode infections in national surveil-lance sites in Jiangsu Province from 2006 to 2015

Objective To understand the status of soil?transmitted nematode infections in rural residents so as to provide the evidence for formulating the guidance for prevention and control of the diseases. Methods The national surveillance sites of soil?transmitted nematode infections were established in Shuyang County,Suqian City,Jiangsu Province from 2006 to 2015. At least 1 000 fecal samples of residents aged 3 years or above were collected in every autumn,and the intestinal helminth eggs were detected with the Kato?Katz technique and the Enterubius vermicularis eggs were detected by the cellophane tape method for children aged 3-12 years. The soil samples were collected from vegetable fields,lavatories,courtyards and kitchens to exam?ine Ascaris lumbricoides eggs and larvae of hookworm. Results The infection rates of soil?transmitted nematodes in residents and E. vermicularis in children reduced from 1.81%(19/1 049)and 4.72%(5/106)in 2006 to 0.25%(3/1 180)and 0(0/263) in 2015,respectively,in the surveillance sites. The infection intensity was mild in all the infected cases. The soil samples were negative for detecting A. lumbricoides eggs and hookworm larvae. Conclusion The infection rates of soil?transmitted nema?todes in the residents and E. vermicularis in the children show a decreasing trend and keep at a low level of prevalence in Shuy?ang County.
