Journal of International Oncology 2012;(11):820-823
Matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) are gelatinases of matrix metalloproteinase family, which play a crucial role in the cancer cell growth, differentiation, invasion, migration, the regulation of tumour angiogenesis and immune surveillance because of their ability to degrade extracellular matrix proteins. So they are significantly associated with development and progression of various tumors. In recent years, the inhibitors and drugs against MMP-2 and MMP-9 arouse wide concern.

Objective To observe the therapeutic efficacy of electroacupuncture at the Governor Vessel points in treating chronic cerebral circulation insufficiency (CCCI).Method Sixty CCCI patients were randomized into a treatment group and a control group, 30 cases in each group. The treatment group was intervened by electroacupuncture at the Governor Vessel points [Baihui (GV20), Shenting (GV24), Fengfu (GV16) and Dazhui (GV14)] plus Betahistine hydrochloride tablets, while the control group was intervened by Betahistine hydrochloride tablets alone, 8 mg at each dose, 3 times a day. Two-week treatment was taken as a course, and 2 courses were conducted in total, followed by a 3-month follow-up study. The two groups were observed after the intervention to measure the improvement, meanwhile, both short-term and long-term therapeutic efficacies were evaluated.Result The total effective rate was 93.3% in the treatment group versus 86.7% in the control group, and the between-group difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).Conclusion Electroacupuncture at the Governor Vessel points is an effective approach in treating CCCI, and it can produce a more significant therapeutic efficacy when used together with Betahistine hydrochloride compared to the use of Betahistine hydrochloride alone.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2000;0(12):-
Objective To assess the contribution of CT perfusion in the quantitative diagnosis of meningiomas Methods The CT perfusion imaging was performed in 13 patients (including 2 recurrent meningiomas) by using Somatom Plus 4 helical CT The color map of relative cerebral blood volume (rCBV), relative cerebral blood flow (rCBF), and mean transit time (MTT) was obtained by perfusion software, and rCBF, rCBV, and MTT were calculated in different areas Then the perfusion parameters and its mean ratios between tumor and contralateral normal brain tissue (CNBT) in each group of different pathologic types of meningiomas were compared using an unpaired or a paired Student t test Results The rCBV, rCBF, and MTT of meningiomas were significantly higher than those of CNBT [rCBV:(16 125?12 135) ml/100 g vs (2 158?1 345) ml/100 g, P 0 05) The characteristic time density curve (TDC) with high peaks was seen in 5 cases The rCBV and rCBF of 4 cases with peritumor brain edema were significantly lower than those of CNBT Conclusion CT perfusion imaging can not only provide quantitative information of meningiomas blood flow and show characteristic dynamic TDC, but also is useful in assessing pathology of tumor and demonstrating lower perfusion in peritumor brain edema and diagnosis of recurrent meningiomas

Objective To measure the serum levels of IL-32 and chemokine CXCL13 in patients with rheumatoid arthritis and explore their clinical value. Methods The serum levels of IL-32 and chemokine CXCL13 were meas-ured by ELISA methods in 102 patients with RA and 50 healthy controls;analyzed the correlation among the IL-32, chemokine CXCL13 and the clinical data, inflammation maker of RA, such as X-ray stage, the bone destruction, the number of tender joints, the number of swollen joints, DAS28,ESR,CRP,CCP,RF,TNF-α,IL-6, etc. Results The serum levels of IL-32 and chemokine CXCL13 were significantly higher in RA patients than that in healthy controls(P<0.05). Moreover, the serum levels of IL-32 and chemokine CXCL13 those patients who had bone de-struction were higher than those with no or mild bone destructions(P<0.05);there was a positive correlation be-tween IL-32, chemokine CXCL13 and X-ray stage, the bone destruction, DAS28, ESR,CRP,CCP,TNF-α,IL-6. Especially, there was a positive correlation between IL-32 and chemokine CXCL13 (r=0.509,P=0.000). How-ever, there was no relationship with the number of swollen joints, tender joints, and RF. Conclusion The serum levels of IL-32 and chemokine CXCL13 were increased significantly, which was closly related with the disease activ-ity and inflammation maker. The results indicate that the abnormality of IL-32 and chemokine CXCL13 may be use-ful for the evaluation of disease activity and monitoring the progress of the disease.

Chinese Journal of Biotechnology 2014;30(3):368-380
Industrial microorganisms are subject to various stress conditions, including products and substrates inhibitions. Therefore, improvement of stress tolerance is of great importance for industrial microbial production. Acetic acid is one of the major inhibitors in the cellulosic hydrolysates, which affects seriously on cell growth and metabolism of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Studies on the molecular mechanisms underlying adaptive response and tolerance of acetic acid of S. cerevisiae benefit breeding of robust strains of industrial yeast for more efficient production. In recent years, more insights into the molecular mechanisms underlying acetic acid tolerance have been revealed through analysis of global gene expression and metabolomics analysis, as well as phenomics analysis by single gene deletion libraries. Novel genes related to response to acetic acid and improvement of acetic acid tolerance have been identified, and novel strains with improved acetic acid tolerance were constructed by modifying key genes. Metal ions including potassium and zinc play important roles in acetic acid tolerance in S. cerevisiae, and the effect of zinc was first discovered in our previous studies on flocculating yeast. Genes involved in cell wall remodeling, membrane transport, energy metabolism, amino acid biosynthesis and transport, as well as global transcription regulation were discussed. Exploration and modification of the molecular mechanisms of yeast acetic acid tolerance will be done further on levels such as post-translational modifications and synthetic biology and engineering; and the knowledge obtained will pave the way for breeding robust strains for more efficient bioconversion of cellulosic materials to produce biofuels and bio-based chemicals.
