1.A Processing Method of EEG Signals Based on Second Generation Wavelet Transform and Blind Signal Separation

Objective To study a processing method for EEG signals mixed with EOG and ECG signals disturbance.Methods First,the EEG was denoised by the hard threshold method,the soft threshold method,the compromise threshold method and the ? law threshold method in the second generation wavelet,and then the denoised EEG which still contained EOG and ECG was separated by fast independent component analysis( FastICA) algorithm.Results The ? law threshold method of the second generation wavelet had better denoising effect and FastICA algorithm had more ideal separate performance.Conclusion It is an effective preprocessing method for EEG in denoising with the ? law threshold method of the second generation wavelet and then in separating disturbance of independent source with FastICA algorithm.
2.Effect of Heroin on DLG4 Expression in Hippocampus, Amygdala and Frontal Cortex of Rats.

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the expression of discs large homolog 4 (DLG4) protein in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex of rats and evaluate postsynaptic density in heroin dependence.
METHODS:
The rat heroin dependent model was established by increasing intraperitoneal injection of heroin. DLG4 proteins in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex of heroin dependent 9, 18, 36 days rats were detected with immunohistochemical staining and compared with that in the control group.
RESULTS:
DLG4 proteins in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex were gradually reduced with extension of heroin dependent time.
CONCLUSION
Heroin dependence can affect postsynaptic density of hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex. The changes become more apparent with extension of heroin dependence time.

5.Correlation between serum growth differentiation factor-15 and TIMI risk scores in patients with unstable angina pectoris.

OBJECTIVETo explore the correlation between serum levels of growth differentiation factor-15 (GDF-15) and Thrombolysis in Myocardial Infarction (TIMI) risk scores in patients with unstable angina pectoris (UA).
METHODSThe serum levels of GDF-15 in 97 patients with UA and 30 healthy volunteers were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and compared between 3 patient groups with different TIMI scores to analyze relationship between serum GDF-15 levels and TIMI risk scores.
RESULTSThe serum levels of GDF-15 in UA patients were significantly higher than those in the healthy volunteers (P<0.01). GDF-15 levels also differed significantly between patients with different TIMI scores (P<0.01), and showed a significant positive correlation to TIMI risk scores.
CONCLUSIONSerum levels of GDF-15 can be used as an index for evaluating the severity of UA.

6.The significance of multi-slice helical CT multiplanar reconstruction in the diagnoses of laryngeal carcinoma

Objective To evaluate the significance of multi-slice helical CT with multiplanar reconstruction in laryngeal carcinoma.Methods Thirty-five patients with laryngeal carcinoma were studied by helical CT,MPR were subsequently done.The lesion extent of the axial image findings,MPR findings and the combined image findings were compared with the pathological results respectively.The data were statistically analyzed.Results In the evaluation of the anterior commissure,the axial image findings,MPR findings and the combined image findings were 82.9%,68.6% and 91.4% in accuracy respectively,the results were statistically different(P0.05).The combined images were superior to the axial images and the MPR images in sensitivity,specificity and accuracy of the lesion extent.Conclusion The axial images could show the shape,size,extension of the tumor and the lymphadenopathy,MPR images displayed the shape,size and extension roundly and directly,they were the supplement for the axial images.Axial images combined with MPR could improve the accuracy in the diagnoses of laryngeal carcinoma.
7.Expression of CD58 in childhood B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia and its feasibility in minimal residual disease detection.

OBJECTIVETo measure the expression of lymphocyte function-associated antigen-3 (CD58) in childhood B-lineage acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) and to explore the feasibility of CD58 as an indicator for minimal residual disease (MRD) detection in childhood B-ALL.
METHODSEighty-seven children diagnosed with B-ALL between January 2014 and September 2014 were enrolled, and 20 hospitalized children who had no tumor or blood disease and had normal bone marrow cell morphology served as the control group. The expression features of CD58 in bone marrow samples from the two groups (at diagnosis, on day 15 of induction chemotherapy) were analyzed by four-color flow cytometry (FCM). Quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR) and FCM were used to detect MRD in B-ALL patients on day 33 of induction chemotherapy.
RESULTSThe mean fluorescence intensity of CD58 expression in the 87 B-ALL cases (91±33) was significantly higher than that in the 20 controls (14±6) (P<0.01); CD58 was over-expressed in 44 of the B-ALL cases. In the B-ALL children, the expression of CD58 on day 15 of induction chemotherapy (105±22) was not significantly different from that at diagnosis (107±26) (P>0.05). In the 44 B-ALL patients with CD58 over-expression, FCM showed 9 MRD(+) cases and 35 MRD(-) cases, while qRT-PCR showed 11 MRD(+) cases and 33 MRD(-) cases; 42 cases (95%) showed consistent results of the two tests, so there was no significant difference between the two methods in detecting MRD (P>0.05).
CONCLUSIONSCD58 is over-expressed and stable in children with B-ALL, and it can be considered as an indicator for MRD detection in childhood B-ALL.

8.Effect of pioglitazone on hypoxia/reoxygenation injury and protein kinase C expression in neonatal rat cardiomyocytes.

OBJECTIVETo observe the effect of pioglitazone on hypoxia/reoxygenation injury and the expression of protein kinase C (PKC) in neonatal rat cardiomyocytes.
METHODSNeonatal Sprague-Dawley rat cardiomyocytes in primary culture were treated with pioglitazone or GW9662 for 24 h prior to hypoxia/reoxygenation injury. Cardiomyocyte apoptosis was evaluated with Hoechst33258 staining and the expression of PKC was detected using Western blotting.
RESULTSIn the early stage of hypoxia/reoxygenation injury, the apoptosis rates of the cardiomyocytes increased significantly from (0.20∓0.03)% of the control level to (12.22∓1.45)% (P<0.05). Pretreatment with pioglitazone significantly lowered the apoptosis rate of the cardiomyocytes with hypoxia/reoxygenation injury to (8.32∓0.89)%, and this effect was antagonized by GW9662, a specific blocker of peroxisome proliferators activated receptors γ (PPARγ). Pioglitazone did not cause increased expression of PKC in the cardiomyocytes.
CONCLUSIONPioglitazone can ameliorate neonatal rat cardiomyocyte injury induced by hypoxia/reoxygenation partially by activating PPARγ and does not increase the expression of PKC in the cells.

9.Comparison between docetaxel plus cisplatin and cisplatin plus fluorouracil in the neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy for local advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.

OBJECTIVETo compare the efficacy and feasibility of neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy with docetaxel plus cisplatin or with cisplatin plus fluorouracil in the treatment of local advanced esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
METHODSA total of 154 cases in the stage of cT3N0-1M0 were randomly assigned to two arms. The arm A received 2 cycles of doctaxel 75 mg/m(2) plus cisplatin 25 mg/m(2) d1-3 and 40 Gy of radiation therapy, and the arm B received 2 cycles of cisplatin 25 mg/m(2) d1-3 plus fluorouracil 600 mg/m(2) d1 ∼ 5 and 40 Gy of radiation therapy. The surgery was performed 3 - 4 weeks later.
RESULTSGrade 3/4 toxicities occurred in 53.2% of the patients in arm A and in 36.4% of the patients in arm B (P = 0.035). Neutropenia occurred in 20.7% of the patients in arm A and 5.6% of the patients in arm B (P = 0.004). Nine patients aborted surgery due to tumor progression. 71 patients underwent resection in 73 cases of the arm A and 69 patients underwent complete resection, 70 patients underwent resection in 72 cases and 70 complete resection of the arm B, respectively (P > 0.05). No mortality was noted. The overall complication rate was similar in the two arms (21.9% vs. 23.6%). Pathological complete response was achieved in 27 patients (35.1%) in the arm A and 16 patients (20.8%) in the arm B (P = 0.048).
CONCLUSIONSNeoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy with docetaxel plus cisplatin can be well tolerated and achieves a higher pathological complete response rate than with cisplatin plus fluorouracil.

10.Effects of vitamin D analogue EB1089 on proliferation and apoptosis of hepatic carcinoma cells.

OBJECTIVEThis study aimed at investigating the effects of vitamin D analogue EB1089 on the proliferation and apoptosis of hepatic carcinoma cells.
METHODSHepatic carcinoma cell strain G(2) (Hep-G(2)) in which prominent vitamin D receptor (VDR) mRNA could be expressed and the cell strain T (HCC-T) negative in VDR gene expression were incubated in culture media with 100 nmol/L, 10 nmol/L and 1 nmol/L EB1089 for 2 d, 4 d and 6 d, respectively. Survival and proliferation of the cells were detected by blue tetrazolium colorimetric test and plate clone-forming test, the VDR mRNA expression was determined by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and apoptosis of the cells was detected by flow cytometry (FCM) and electron microscopy.
RESULTSEB1089 could inhibit the proliferation of hepatocellular cell line Hep-G(2) that expressed prominent vitamin D receptor mRNA, the inhibitory rate is 17.5% approximately 72.1%. On the other hand, EB1089 had no anti-proliferative effect on hepatocellular cell line HCC-T in which the gene expression of vitamin D receptors was negative. The electron microscope results showed that EB1089 could induce apoptosis of hepatocarcinoma cells and the percentages of apoptotic cells measured by flow cytometer was 21.4%. Cell cycle progression was blocked at G(1) phase with EB1089.
CONCLUSIONEB1089 could inhibit proliferation of human Hep-G(2), probably through VDR, and induce apoptosis of the cells.
