Objective To assess the effects of fluvastatin retard tablets on the elder patients of acute coronary syndrome(ACS) complicated with diabetes mellitus(DM) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and the safety of drugs.Methods From December 2009 to December 2011,78 elderly patients (age≥65 years) of ACS complicated with DM who underwent PCI were enrolled in this study.They were all treated by drug elution stents.They were divided into group A(fluvastatin retard tablets 80 mg/d) and group B (fluvastatin retard tablets 160 mg/d) with 39 cases each by random digits table method.The plasma levels of high sensitivity C reactive protein (hs-CRP),matrix metalloproteinase proteinase 9 (MMP-9),monocyte chemoattractant protein 1 (MCP-1) and lipid levels were measured before and after treatment of 24 h,7 d and 180 d.All the patients were followed up for 180 d,and the adverse reaction of drug and the incidence of cardiovascular event were detected.Results Blood lipid levels had no significant changes in the two groups before and after treatment (P ＞ 0.05).The plasma levels of hs-CRP,MCP-1,MMP-9 were higher after treatment of 24 h than those before treatment in two groups [group A:(12.14 ± 2.71)mg/L vs.(8.76 ±2.25) mg/L,(491.75 ± 19.29) ng/L vs.(440.56 ± 13.15) ng/L,(449.6 ±11.8) μmol/L vs.(353.8 ± 16.0) μ mol/L;group B:(11.39 ± 2.38) mg/L vs.(9.30 ± 1.99) mg/L,(488.56 ± 17.61) ng/L vs.(436.06 ± 15.36) ng/L,(444.9 ± 19.1) μ mol/L vs.(349.8 ± 13.6) μmol/L],and there were significant differences (P ＜ 0.05).The plasma levels of hs-CRP,MCP-1,MMP-9 decreased significantly after treatment of 7,180 d compared with that after treatment of 24 h in two groups (P ＜ 0.05).Compared with those in group A,the plasma levels of hs-CRP,MCP-1,MMP-9 decreased even lower in group B[after 7 d:(4.51 ±1.16) mg/L vs.(5.43 ± 1.44) mg/L,(306.06 ± 18.49) ng/L vs.(384.64 ± 13.23) ng/L,(206.2 ± 16.8)μ mol/L vs.(263.4 ± 15.4)μ mol/L;after 180 d:(4.23 ± 1.08) mg/L vs.(4.68 ± 1.46) mg/L,(280.16 ± 14.54) ng/L vs.(354.64 ± 11.32) ng/L,(187.2 ± 14.2)μ mol/L vs.(225.4 ± 12.7) μ mol/L],and there were significant differences (P ＜ 0.05).After followed up for 180 d,there was no serious adverse reaction in two groups,and the total incidence of cardiovascular event in group B was lower than that in group A [7.7％(3/39) vs.25.6％ (10/39)],and there was significant difference (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Intensive lipid lowering therapy can reduce the level of inflammatory factors and cardiovascular event of the elder patients of ACS complicated with DM undergoing PCI and has good security.

Objective To investigate the level and value of serum uric acid (UA) in patients with multiple system atrophy (MSA).Methods One hundred and one MSA patients were selected as the MSA group and 101 age and sex-matched healthy controls as control group.The UA concentrations and other biochemical indexes were measured by an enzymatic method and carefully analyzed.By comparing the UA concentrations for different genders, subtypes, and different levels of certainty of the MSA group with their counterparts in the control group, we obtained the differences between these two groups and also discussed possible reasons and factors.Results The serum UA levels of MSA patients ((283.74 ± 87.76) μmol/L) were significantly lower than the controls ((317.86 ± 76.95) μmol/L;t =-2.94, P ＜ 0.05).In addition, when the male and female groups were investigated separately, the decrease of serum UA was more significant in the male group compared to the female group (t =-3.88, P ＜ 0.01).Furthermore, by comparing different subtypes of the MSA patients with the control group, we found that the serum UA levels in both P-type or C-type MSA patients were significantly lower than in controls (t =2.92, 2.02;all P ＜ 0.05).By comparing different levels of MSA with the control group, we obtained that UA levels in both probable MSA patients and possible MSA patients were significantly lower than in controls (t =3.13, 2.09;all P ＜ 0.05).By adjusting for the confounding factors, such as age, alanine aminotransferase, aspartate aminotransferase, urea nitrogen, creatinine, high density lipoprotein-cholesterol and low density lipoprotein-cholesterol, the multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that the numbers of MSA patients in the lowest level UA group (UA ＜ 263.0 μmol/L) were higher than the high level UA group (UA ＞ 370.5 μmol/L), though the difference did not reach statistical significance (P ＞ 0.05).Nevertheless, the numbers of male MSA patients in the lowest level and the lower level UA groups (UA =263.0-309.0 μmol/L) were 11.5 and 10.8 times that in the high level UA group (P =0.001, P =0.003).No obviously linear relation between the level of UA and disease progression was found.Conclusions The level of serum UA is significantly decreased in MSA patients, especially in the male patients.The UA, as an antioxidant, may be beneficial to the neurodegenerative diseases.

ITS2 sequence was used as a barcode to identify Viticis Fructus and its adulterants. The study collected 46 samples include Viticis Fructus and its adulterants. The sequences were obtained by extracting DNA, amplification, sequencing bi-direstionlly, and then assembling with CodonCode Aligner. To identify Viticis Fructus and its adulterants, the study used the methods of computing the genetic distances by Kimura 2-Parameter (K2P) model and constructing the Neighbor-joining (NJ) phylogenetic trees using MEGA5.0. The results showed that the maximum inter-specific K2P distance of Viticis Fructus was less than the minimum inter-specific K2P distance of Viticis Fructus and its adulterants and the NJ tree indicated that the Viticis Fructus and its adulterants could be distinguished clearly. Therefore, using ITS2 barcode can distinguished Viticis Fructus and its adulterants accurately.

Background Research showed that exposure of 530 nm monochromatic light can induce myopia in animal,and retinal Müller cells participate in the formation of myopia.However,the effect and mechanism of retinal Müller cells during the formation of monochromatic light induced-myopia is below understood.Objective This study was to investigate biologic characteristics of rat retina Müller cells and the expression of cell factors in Müller cells after being illuminated by the 530 nm monochromatic light,and discuss the role of the retina Müller cells in myopia induced by monochromatic light.Methods Immortalized rat retinal Müller cells were cultured with DMEM containing 10％ fetal bovine serum in a self-made cell incubator with monochromatic light by adjusting luminance of 530 nm LED source.The cells were exposed to 125,250 and 500 lx luminance respectively for 6,12 and 24 hours,and the cells without light-irradiation were used as control.The growth of the cells under the different light time and different illuminations was described by MTT as the absorbance at the wavelength 570 nm (A570),and cell cycle analysis of Müller cells was performed by flow cytometry 48 hours after cultured,and the expression of transforming growth factor-beta 1 (TGF-β1),tyrosine hydroxylase(TH),inducible nitric oxide synthase(iNOS) and basic fibroblast growth factor(bFGF)in the cells were detected by reverse transcription PCR(RT-PCR),respectively.Results The Müller cells were uniform in size with polygonal shape and defined edges.No statistically significant difference was found in the A570 value in the cells of the 125 lx and 250 lx illuminated groups compared with the control group in various time points(P＞0.05).However,significant lowing was seen in the A570 value in the cells of the 500 lx illuminating for 12 hours and 24 hours in comparison with the control group (P =0.013,0.001).Compared with the control group,the ratio of the number between G2 and G1 phase was not significantly declined in 125 lx,250 lx illuminating for 48 hours (P =0.073,0.330),and the ratio in the 500 lx illuminating group was significantly lower than those in the 250 lx illuminated group and the control group (P =0.028,0.038).RT-PCR revealed that the expression of TGF-β1 mRNA in the cells was higher in the 250 lx illuminated group than that of the 500 lx illuminated group (P=0.006).The expression of iNOS mRNA was gradually upregulated in the 250 lx illuminated group compared with the control group (P =0.001),but that in the 500 lx illuminated group was downregulated (P =0.000).The expression of bFGF mRNA was raised in the 125 lx and 250 lx groups but reduced in the 500 lx group when compared with the control group(P=0.002,0.000,0.005).Also,the expression of TH mRNA was significantly increased in the 250 lx group(P=0.000),but decreased in the 500 lx group(P=0.000,P=0.001).Conclusions The monochromatic light of 530 nm can inhibit the growth of rat Müller cells and downregulate the expression of myopia-related cell factors and therefore exert effect in the formation of myopia.

Objective: To observe the changes of somatosensory evoked potential(SEP) and nitric oxide (NO) after subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH), and the influence of Ginkgo biloba extract (EGb). Method: Rats in sham-operated group, SAH model group and EGb-treated group underwent measurement of dynamic changes of regional cerebral blood flow( rCBF),SEP and NO levels both in serum and in brain tissue within 24h after operation. Result: In SAH group, rCBF decreased immediately after operation, with no tendency to recover within 24h. The latency of SEP delayed progressively from 1h to 24h after SAH. NO levels in serum and in brain tissue decreased and increased respectively from 1h to 24h after SAH. EGb effectively antagonized the changes of above parameters. Conclusion: SEP is helpful in the judgement on brain ischemic damage after SAH. Decrease of NO in serum and increase of that in brain tissue may lead to cerebral vasospasm and ischemic brain damage respectively after SAH. EGb relieves SAH-induced brain ischemic damage by reversing the pathological alterations of NO.

AIM: To investigate the effect of peribulbar anesthesia on intraocular pressure(IOP)and ocular amplitude pulse(OPA).METHODS: Thirty-two consecutive adult patients with monocular cataract enrolled in this study. IOP and OPA were measured with dynamic contour tonometer(DCT)before and 3, 10 minutes after administration of lidocaine anesthesia. Data were analyzed with software SPSS 11.5.RESULTS: The IOP remained stable in the injected eyes and the non-injected eyes after administration of lidocaine anesthesia. The OPA was significantly decreased after injection of anesthesia agent in the injected eyes. The OPA in the non-injected eyes increased significantly 3 minutes after injection of the anesthesia agent, returning to preinjection level 10 minutes after the injection.CONCLUSION: Peribulbar anesthesia leads to decrease of OPA and shows no effect on IOP in the injected eyes.

Objective To study the changes of serum interleukin(IL)-4,IL-12 and correlation with cellular immunity in children with asthma of different stages.Methods Fifty asthmatic children were randomly selected, including 30 cases in attack stage (group A) and 20 cases in remission stage (group R). At the same time, 22 healthy children were studied as normal controls (group N).The levels of IL-12 and IL-4 ,T cells subgroups and erythrocyte immunity were detected.Results 1.Serum IL-12 levels were (24.44? 13.26 ),(42.30?12.65),(44.68?28.28) ng/L in group A, R and N,respectively. There was significant difference in three groups (F=8.92 P
