Sulfate-reducing bacteria (SRB) are widespread in the environment. SRB are obligate anaerobes and capable of dissimilatory reduction of sulfate. SRB have application prospects in the control of environmental pollution due to that many pollutants can be removed by SRB. The biological characteristics and metabolic mechanisms of SRB are introduced, and the application of SRB in the treatment of environmental pollution is described in this paper. The research progress of Cr(Ⅵ ) reduction and Cr(Ⅵ ) removal from wastewater by SRB is reviewed, and future direction of research on the control of Cr(Ⅵ ) pollution by SRB is also analysed.

Objective Percheron artery is an uncommon anatomic variant. Percheron artery infarction with unilateral embryonic posterior cerebral artery ( PCA ) was rarely reported.The aim of this study was to characterize the clinical and imaging patterns of Percheron artery infarction with the unilateral embryonic PCA for early diagnosis and treatment.MethodsClinical and imaging data of 2 patients with Percheron artery infarction were reviewed retrospectively.ResultsTwo patients presented acute coma and one had paroxysmal blurred before coma.On neurological examinations,one patient had vertical gaze palsy besides two were unconsciousness. MRI showed symmetrical high signal intensity on diffusion weighed imaging (DWI)in bilateral paramedian thalami in two patients and a distinct pattern of V-shaped hyperintensity on DWI andFLAIR was present on the midbrain in one patient. Digital subtraction angiography and magnetic resonance angiography demonstrated unilateral embryonic PCA in two patients.ConclusionsThe classical clinical symptoms,symmetrical high signal in bilateral paramedian thalami and V-shaped sign in midbrain on DWI can improve recognition,evaluation and management of Percheron artery infarction.The unilateral embryonic PCA may be underlying risk factor of Percheron artery infarction.

Objective To obtain the fusion genes of several human orphan G protein coupled receptors (oGPCRs) with Gi1α subtype of G protein and their expression system. Methods The whole open reading frames of GPR45, GPR85, GPR174 and Gilα were cloned by RT-PCR from HepG2 cDNA separately,and the corresponding fusion genes were amplified by overlap extension PCR. Then, the fusion genes-containing pBacmids were successfully constructed with the Bac-to-Bac baculovirus expression system indicated by specific transposition and virus recombination. The insect Sf9 cells were transfected with pBacmid-oGPCRs-Gi1α, and the supernatant containing recombinant virus was harvested. With the supernatant, insect Sf9 cells were infected under an optimized condition (MOI=5, infection time=72 h) and the fusion proteins were prepared and detected by Western blotting.Results The three fusion genes of GPCR45, GPR85 or GPR174 with Gi1α were obtained. The corresponding fusion proteins could be properly prepared in Sf9 cells.Conclusion Human oGPCRs could be fused with Gilα, and the fusion genes could be expressed using the Bac-to-Bac baculovirus expression system in insect Sf9 cells.

For the establishment of chemical library of protoberberines provided for the bio-activity screening, the target compounds were synthesized by thermal degradation and nucleophilic substitution reactions with the bio-active alkaloid, palmatine (1), as the raw material, and their structures were identified and conformed by 1H-NMR and MS spectra. Among them, 13 compounds were new.

Mycelial morphology are exploited a great influnence to the metabolites of fungi. The effect of the mycelial morphology on producing lycopene by Blakeslea tripora was investigated. The results indicated that pellets has little role on fermentation when adding kerosene and triton-x100, However, The content of lycopene in the medium reached to 98.6mg/L by adding Ig/L span-20, forming dispersed mycelia, which is 3 times of the control experiments.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of recombinant human vascular endothelial growth factor (rhVEGF) on autologous free granular fat grafts in rats.

METHODSForty-eight Sprague Dawley (SD) rats, weighing 190-280 g and regardless sex, were randomly divided into three groups, sixteen in each. After fat transplantation, the rats were treated with plasmid DNA encoding rhVEGF protein (the experimental group), plasmid DNA (the negative group) and normal saline (the blank control group), respectively. At 3, 7, 15 and 30 days after transplantation, the rats were killed and the grafts were weighed, respectively. Histopathological changes were evaluated. Microvessel density and the expression of VEGF were examined by immunohistochemical staining and Western blotting.

RESULTSThe weights of the negative and blank control groups were significantly reduced on the 7th, 15th and 30th days compared with those of the experimental group. The expression of VEGF and the microvessel density in the experimental group were significantly higher than the other two groups during the latter periods.

CONCLUSIONThe plasmid encoding VEGF can induce expression of VEGF and angiogenesis in fat grafts and reduce the absorption of free fat grafts.

This paper is aimed to study the effects of nitrogen form on the growth and quality of Chrysanthemums morifolium at the same nitrogen level. In order to provide references for nutrition regulation of Ch. morifolium in field production, pot experiments were carried out in the greenhouse at experimental station of Nanjing Agricultural University. Five proportions of ammonium and nitrate nitrogen were set up and a randomized block design was applied four times repeatedly. The results showed that the growth and quality of Ch. morifolium were significantly influenced by the nitrogen form. The content of chlorophyll and photosynthesis rate were the highest at the NH4(+) -N /NO3(-) -N ratio of 25:75; The activities of NR in different parts of Ch. -morifolium reached the highest at the NH4(+) - N/NO3(-) -N ratio of 0: 100. The contents of nitrate nitrogen in the root and leaves reached the highest at the NH4(+) -N/NO3(-) -N ratio of 50:50. The activities of GS, GOGAT and the content of amylum increased with the ratio of NO3(-) -N decreasing and reached it's maximum at the NH4 + -N/NO3 - -N ratio of 100: 0. The content of ammonium nitrogen were the highest at the NH4 + -N /NO3 --N ratio of 75: 25, while the content of soluble sugar reached the highest at the NH4(+)-N/NO3(-) -N ratio of 25: 75. The content of flavones, chlorogenic acid and 3,5-O-dicoffeoylqunic acid were 57.2 mg x g(-1), 0.673% and 1.838% respectively, reaching the maximum at the NH4(+) -N /NO3(-) -N ratio of 25:75; The content of luteoloside increased with the ratio of NO3(-) -N increasing and reached it's maximum at the NH4(+) -N/NO3(-) -N ratio of 0: 100. The yield of Ch. morifolium reached it's maximum at the NH4(+) -N /NO3(-) -N ratio of 25:75. Nitrogen form has some remarkable influence on the nitrogen metabolism, photosynthesis and growth, Nitrogen form conducive to the growth and quality of Ch. morifolium at the NH4(+) -N /NO3(-) -N ratio of 25: 75.

Objective To investigate the expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPAR?)in lupus nephritis(LN)patients and the possible mechanisms of PPAR?in the pathogenesis of LN. Method PPAR?expression was examined in 21 LN patients and 5 normal kidney biopsy specimens by im- munohistochemical method.The relationship between PPAR?expression and renal pathologic changes was an- alyzed.Results Glomerular and tubular positive staining of PPAR?in LN patients was markedly up-regulated compared with that in normal kidney specimens.The distribution and expression of PPAR?in classⅣwas sig- nificantly increased compared with that in classⅤandⅡ.The relevance assay showed that there was positive relationship between active index and glomerular PPAR?immunohistochemistry staining cell numbers(r=0.94, P＜0.01 ).Conclusion This study demonstrates in vivo that PPAR?expression is increased in active LN pa- tients with pathological active inflammation.These data suggest that the increase of PPAR?expression in renal cells may play an important role in the pathogenesis of LN.

Objective To investigate the effects of gonadotropin releasing hormone agonist (GnRH- a) and antagonist (GnRH-ant) on cyclophosphamide (CTX)-induced ovarian damage in rats.Methods Seventy-two Sprague-Dawley female rats were divided randomly into six groups,which received normal saline (NS),CTX,GnRH-a+NS,GnRH-a+CTX,GnRH-ant+NS,and GnRH-ant+CTX respectively.Levels of serum follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH),luteinizing hormone (LH) and estradiol (E_2) were measured successively by the enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay method,and half of the rats were killed in the first week and between the fourth and the fifth week after stop of medication,respectively to compare the weight of the ovaries and the number of the primordial follicles and the growth follicles.Results (1) Throughout experiment,the serum levels of FSH,LH and E_2 of the control group fluctuated slightly,while those in the CTX group kept rising.During medication treatment,compared with the control group[(118?16) ?g/L, (350?35) ?g/L] and the CTX group[(113?15) ?g/L,(289?42) ?g/L],the concentrations of LH [(42 ?8)-(47?7) ?g/L,(31?5)-(36?7) ?g/L] and FSH [(124?45)-(136?32)?g/L,(178 ?54)-(198+27)?g/L] in the GnRH-a groups and the GnRH-ant groups were maintained at low levels significantly and the levels of LH in the GnRH-ant groups were significantly lower than that in the GnRH-a groups,but the levels of FSH in the GnRH-ant groups were significantly higher than that in the GnRH-a groups(P0.05),but the levels of FSH,LH and E_2 of the GnRH-ant+CTX group rose obviously and were similar to the levels of the CTX group,especially the FSH,and the levels of LH and FSH of the GnRH- ant + CTX group [(156?12) ?g/L,(520?44) ?g/L] and the CTX group [(178?18) ?g/L,(546?36) ?g/L] were significantly higher than that of the other four groups [(121?15)-(132?13) ?g/L,(335 ?35)-(359?26) ?g/L] at the 4~(th)-5~(th) week after stop of treatment(P0.05),but the number of all kinds of follicles declined significantly in the GnRH-ant+CTX group[(195?15),(36?12)] and the CTX group [(212?11),(36?9)] compared to the other four groups[(302?15)-(690?43),(44?12)-(58?11),P

Objective By comparing the methylation status of imprinted gene H19 in three different quality spermatozoa and the methylation status of the embryos after the combination of spermatozoa, the sperm methylation status in the ART technique was preliminarily explored with the postnatal embryo methylation.Methods In this study, a total of 91 spermatozoa and 91 low－quality embryos were collected from IVF－ET in the First People's Hospital of Yunnan Province. Among them, sperm samples were divided into three groups according to the sperm concentration parameter in the WHO fourth edition,then the relationship between different quality spermatozoa and postnatal embryo methylation were analyzed.Results The abnormality rate of H19 methylation status in group B was significantly higher than that of the sperm group and the embryo group.Conclusions The abnormalities of H19 methylation mainly concentrated in the abnormal parameters of spermatozoa,suggesting that the abnormal state was related to the decrease of sperm quality;Through IVF, ICSI fertilized embryos have the same proportion of the corresponding abnormal state with no significant difference; Abnormal sperm embryos did not show abnormality, which may be related to the self－repair function of the embryo itself.
