This study was aimed to observe effect of combined therapy of acupuncture, tapping and auricular needling on fatty-insulin endocrine axis in obesity complicated with hyperlipidaemia patients withyin-deficiency and blood-stasis pattern. A total of 108 patients with obesity complicated with hyperlipidaemia ofyin-deficiency and blood-stasis pattern were randomly divided into the treatment group of combined therapy of acupuncture, tapping and auricular needling, and the acupuncture and tapping group, with 54 cases in each group. The comparison was made to 52 patients in the normal group. Observations were made on changes of fatty-insulin endocrine axis index, lipid index, obesity index, vegetative nerve function index (Y value) and clinical weight-reducing and lipid-reducing effect. The results showed that the pretreatment obesity index, fasting insulin (FINS), fasting plasma glucose (FPG), insulin resistance index (Homa-IR), fasting leptin (FLP), triglyceride (TG), total cholesterol (TC), low density lipoprotein (LDL-C) and Y value of patients in both groups were significantly higher than those of the normal group (P < 0.01). However, the high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) and insulin sensitivity index (ISI) were significantly lower than those of the normal group (P < 0.01). After treatment, both groups received satisfied effects on weight-reducing and lipid-reducing. The fatty-insulin endocrine axis indexes (FINS, FPG, Homa-IR and FLP) were significantly reduced (P < 0.05); and ISI was significantly increased (P < 0.05). The combined therapy of acupuncture, tapping and auricular needling had better regulation effects on the fatty-insulin endocrine axis level, lipid level and vegetative nerve function level compared with the acupuncture and tapping group (P < 0.05). It was concluded that patients with obesity complicated with hyperlipidaemia ofyin-deficiency and blood-stasis pattern had dysfunction of the fatty-insulin endocrine axis. The combined therapy of acupuncture, tapping and auricular needling, or the therapy of acupuncture and tapping had good regulation effect. However, the combined therapy of acupuncture, tapping and auricular needling had more significant therapeutic effect.

Chinese Journal of Medical Imaging Technology 2009;25(12):2197-2200
Objective To investigate the levels of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) expression in different grades of glioma and the relationship with MRI characteristics. Methods Thirty-one patients of glioma confirmed pathologically were divided into two groups: low grade group (grade Ⅰ and Ⅱ, n=20) and high grade group (grade Ⅲ and Ⅳ, n=11). MMP-9 expression levels were evaluated with immunohistochemical staining. Plain and enhanced MR scan were performed in all patients before operation. Peritumoral edema index (EI), enhance percentage (EP) and the tumor's maximum diameter were recorded as characteristics of MRI. Results The expression levels of MMP-9, EI, EP and the tumor's maximum diameter were significantly higher in the high grade group than those in the low grade group (t=6.312, 4.405, 6.286 and 5.026, respectively, all P<0.05). The expression of MMP-9 were found significantly correlated to EI, EP and the maximum diameter of tumor (r=0.516, 0.554 and 0.676, respectively, all P<0.05). The expression levels of MMP-9 were significantly different between tumors with heterogeneity and even signal (t=2.637, P<0.05), but not between tumors with unclear border and clear border definition (t=0.906, P>0.05). Conclusion MMP-9 expression have close relationship with invasion of glioma. EI, EP, the maximum diameter and signal of tumor can reflect the level of MMP-9 expression, and may be used to estimate tumor's malignant behavior, being able to provide the evidence for future clinical operation.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2005;9(14):-
BACKGROUND: Wound healing is a complex biological process regulated temporally and spatially by many repair factors. Studies have showed the predominant expression of cytokines in wound healing process, which is a kind of molecular vital reaction, and may be a new reference index in wound age estimation. But the precise relation of the expressions of cytokines and distribution to wound age is not clear.OBJECTIVE: To probe into the relation of the expressions of cytokines and distribution to wound age in the healing process of the mouse skin wounds.DESIGN: A randomized controlled confirmation study based on the experimental animalsSETTING: Department of Pathology of the First Military University of Chinese PLA, which is a key laboratory of molecule oncology of Chinese PLA.MATERIALS: The study was completed in the Key Laboratory of Molecule Oncdogy of Chinese PLA from July to September in 2003. Sixty-five Kunming mice of either gender, weighing 25 - 28 g, were involved.INTERVENTIONS: The mice were randomly divided into the experimental and the control group. The mice in the experimental group were divided into 12 subgroups according to the different times of trauma. The mice were killed at the following time intervals: 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 3 hours, 6hours, 12 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours, 72 hours, 96 hours, 1 week or 2 weeks after wound and the wounded skin was excised( n = 5 each). As a control, 5mice without wounding were examined.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The amount and distribution of staining positive inflammation and repair cells in skin wound tissues.RESULTS: Persistent positive expression of vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) was seen in the epidermal cells and sebaceous gland cells. The expressions of transforming growth factor β1(TGF-β1) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) in the epidermal cells were increased at 3 hours after incision and lasted till 12 hours and 48 hours respectively. There was a similar distribution in the positive amount of inflammation and repair cells among VEGF, TGF-β1 and bFGF. Six hours after injury, some of neutrophils showed positive reactions. After 12 hours, macrophages and fibroblasts were mainly positive cells. The number of the positive cells was increased with wound age,and the peak occurred at 96 hours. There were still some positive macrophages and fibroblasts at week 1 and week 2 after the incision.CONCLUSION: There was a time-related expression of TGF-β1 and bFGF in the epidermal cells in mouse skin wounds. The amount and distribution of inflammation and repair cells that express VEGF, TGF-β1 and bFGF were changed in a time-related manner in the healing process of mouse skin wounds.

[Objective]To evaluate the efficacy of nerve transfer for reconstructing the sensory function of the sole.[Method](1)Select saphenous nerve as donor nerve for the patients with the sensory loss beneath ankle level:dissect and cut off the saphenous nerve at the medialposterior aspect at upper-middle 1/3 of the leg and divide the gastrocnemius to expose the tibial nerve at the medialposterior aspect of the tibia, cut off partly nerve fibre of the tibial nerve and then end-to-end anastomose to the proximal end of the saphenous nerve. (2) Select sural nerve as donor nerve for the patients with sensory loss of sole only:dissect and cut off the sural nerve at the posterior aspect of the lateral malleolus, expose the tibial nerve at the posterior aspect of the medial malleolus and then cut off partly nerve fibre of the tibial nerve. The sural nerve was comdicted from the subcutaneous tunel at the anterior aspect of the Achilles's tendon to the posterior aspect of the medial malleolus and end-to-end anastomose to the partial nerve fibre of the tibial nerve. [Result]All the 9 cases were followed up from 1.5 to 2 years(mean 2 l months). The SCV(sensory conduction velocity) of the tibial nerve was ranged from 36.1 to 41.2 m/s, mean 38.3 m/s and the amplitude of wave (peak-to-peak amplitude) was a range from 7 to 15.3?V, mean 11.2 ?V by orthodromic electrophysiologic techniques. All 9 cases regained the sense of pain and touch of the sole.Three cases restored their sense of two point discrimination. All the patients expressed their satisfaction with their ability of walk and no muscles atrophy of the foot. The sensory loss in donor region was oberserved only lateral part of the foot beneath the lateral malleolus (sural nerve as donor nerve) and a small part of the anterior aspect of the ankle(saphenous nerve as donor nerve).[Conclusion]Nerve transfer can reconstruct the sensory function of the sole effectively.
