Objective To investigate the effect of ovarian estrogen on autophagy and senile plaques (SP) in the brain of adult APP/PS1 double transgenic mice, and inquire into the mechanism of Alzheimer disease (AD) neuropathogenesis due to estrogen deficiency. Methods APP/PS1 AD mice (3-month old) were divided into ovariectomy group (OVX-AD) and sham group (sham-AD). Two months after operation, transmission electron microscopy (TEM) was employed to observe the morphological structures of the brains of AD model mice, and immunohistochemical staining was performed to examine the changes in SP and autophagy-related proteins LC3 and Beclin-1 in the brain of AD model mice. Results Immunohistochemical staining showed that the number of SP in the brain of OVX-AD mice incrcased significantly compared with that in sham-AD mice, and distribution of SP was observed more extensively, including the cortex and hippocampus. The autophagy related proteins LC3 and Beclin-1 positive neurons were decreased greatly in the OVX-AD mice brain compared with that of sham-AD mice. TEM revealed a larger number of swollen and dark neurons in hippocampus of OVX-AD mice, while more autophagosome was observed around the neuronal processes in OVX-AD mice brain compared with sham-AD mice. Conclusion Estrogen deficiency may lead to delayed maturation of autophagy, decrease the activity and weaken the function of autophagy, which in turn may result in aggravation of pathological features of AD.

Objective: To give the living-donor and recipient medical evaluation and moral evaluation pretransplant by Academic and Ethics Committee for Organ Transplantation (AECOT), ensure the transplantation proceed smoothly and the feasibility for moral principles. Methods:AECOT was formed and gave the living-donor and recipient medical evaluation, additional moral evaluation to their family, evaluated the possibility for transplantation, ensured the long-dated safety for living-donor and recognition for ethics, ensured the transplantation proceed successfully. Objective To identify the configuration of the fascial sheath of the sciatic nerve in the adult pelvis . Methods A total of 14 cadaveric pelvic specimens and 20 living subjects were used for cadaveric examination and magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI) observation , respectively .The cadaveric specimens were investigated by the local latex injection method ( n =10 ) sectional anatomy ( n=2 ) or histological staining methods ( n =2 ) .The MR images were collected and analyzed from twenty patients without pelvic disorders .Results The injected latex did not diffuse along the pelvic segment of the sciatic nerve .Sectional anatomical and histological data showed that the architecture of the fascial sheath of the sciatic nerve varied at different levels .An intact circular sheath around the nerve was rarely observed .There was no fascia barrier between the obturator and sciatic nerves .Appearance on MRI was consistent with the cadaveric observation.Conclusion No intact fascial sheath exists along the pelvic segment of the sciatic nerve , thus sciatic anesthesia may block the obturator nerve .

AIM: To discuss the effect of wearing customized curvature soft corneal contact lens to dry eye degree of flight attendants.
METHODS:Eighty cases (160 eyes) of flight attendants from China Southern were divided into two groups:control group 40 cases ( 80 eyes ) wearing ready-made Bausch soft corneal contact lens ( curvature 8. 4 ); the experiment group 40 cases ( 80 eyes ) , wearing Bausch soft corneal contact lens with customized curvature. Tear break-up time ( BUT ) , Schirmer Ⅰ test ( SⅠt ) and fluorescein ( FL ) staining were as dry eye evaluation index. The results was statistically analyzed.
RESULTS: BUT, SⅠt average shortening value of the experimental group were less than that of the control group, there was statistical significance (P<0. 01). FL staining positive increase, the number of experimental group was fewer than that of control group, with statistical significance (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Wearing customized curvature soft corneal contact lens can prevent the flight dry eye more effectively than fixed curvature product.

Objective To investigate clinical features and prognostic factors in acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) patients with opportunistic infections.Methods Forty-two cases of AIDS patients with opportunistic infections were enrolled in this study.Clinical data and major factors affecting the prognosis were analyzed using Logistic regression.Results Bacterial infection was the first etiological factor(57.1%) of opportunistic infections in AIDS patients.Eighty-three point three percent of patients infected with more than two kind of etiological agents.Fifty-seven point one per- cent of cases were infected in multiple sites.CD4~+ T cells count was associated with the opportunistic infections.Conclusions The CD4~- T lymphocytes count is the key factor affecting the prognosis of AIDS patients with opportunistic infections.The average of CD4~+ T lymphocytes count is significant- ly related with the major opportunistic infections in AIDS paitents.

Objective To explore the Schistosoma japonicum cercariae collected method and the quantity of cercariae obtained from a great quantity artificial infected snails. Methods In laboratory condition, Oncomelania snails were infected with schistosome miracidia. Sixty days post-infection all snails were divided into 7 shares. Cercariae shed from 1 share snails every day and the number of all shedding days were 40. Cercariae shed from snails were collected with low-velocity centrifuge and the cercariae sediment were weighted. Results One thousand and nine hundred g snails bred for 120 days post-infection, the infection and survival rates were 36. 00% and 51. 58%. Cercariae col-lected were 10. 5 g from 40 days collection. Cercariae quantity of shedding from 1 000 positive snails per day was 0. 257 4 g.
