AIM: To evaluate visual acuity outcomes after phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation in patients with wet age-related macular degeneration (wAMD).METHODS: We reviewed the medical documents of the patients who underwent phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation surgery during June 2013 and January 2016.Totally 61 eyes of 48 patients with wAMD in the stable stage were recruited.The pre-and post-operative vision of selected cases were recorded and compared.RESULTS: After phacoemulsification and intralocular lens implantation, visual acuity changes were as follows: 49 eyes improved, 11 eyes retained, and 1 eye deteriorated.Visual acuity improvement after cataract surger were statistically significant (P<0.001).Visual acuity improvement was not related to age.CONCLUSION: Visual acuity improved in patients with wet AMD after phacoemulcification and intraocular lens implantation.

Objective To investigate the iodine nutritional status in the populations of Guizhou Province after implementation of a new standard of salt iodine and to provide a basis in formulating strategy for control of iodine deficiency disorders.Methods In 2011 and 2014,30 units were sampled in Guizhou Province using the sampling method of Probability Proportional to Size.One primary school was chosen in each unit,by the randomized sampling method,40 or 50 students in each school were sampled for examining their urinary iodine level and for testing their household salt iodine level;12 and 50 children were chosen before and after the adjustment,respectively,for testing their urinary iodine level;near the location of the primary school,1 township was chosen,15-20 pregnant women in each township were sampled to test their urinary iodine level.Results Totally 1215 salt samples were collected before adjustment,the median of salt iodine was 32.2 mg/kg;consumption rate of qualified salt was 96.63％;totally 364 urine samples of 8-10 children were collected,the median of urinary iodine (MUI)of children was 308.9 μg/L;450 urine samples of pregnant women were sampled,and their MUI was 216.5 μg/L,among these,121 below 150 μg/L,the proportion was 26.9％.Totally 1 538 salt samples were collected after the adjustment,the median of salt iodine was 26.6 mg/kg;consumption rate of qualified salt was 96.40％;totally 1538urinary samples of 8-10 children were collected,the MUI of children was 218.3 μg/L;and 601 urinary samples of pregnant women were collected,the MUI was 175.1μg/L,among these,241 below 150 μg/L,the proportion was 40.1％.As can be seen from the results,the percentage of sample below 150 μg/L after the adjustment was increased to 13.2％ compared to that before the adjustment,the difference was statistically significant (x2 =19.89,P ＜0.01).Conclusion After implementation of a new standard of salt iodine in Guizhou Province,the iodine nutrition is suitable in residents,but the iodine nutrition of pregnant women is in a trend of declining,which should be noticed.

The JC virus is a widely infected human polyomavirus. Recent foreign researches showed that the JC virus infection is correlated with tumors of nervous system and digestive system, while, and study on the relationship between JC virus infection and gynecological tumor is seldom reported. In this study, we first establish the nucleic acid detection methods and procedures for JC virus and its highly homologous BK virus. The JC and BK viruses infection was evaluated by detect the viral DNA in samples including biopsy tissues, serum as well as urine of myoma of uterus (98 cases), cervical cancer (84 cases), endometrial cancer (40 cases) and ovarian tumor (72 cases) patients. The BK viral DNA positive rate was significantly higher in urine samples than that of blood and biopsy samples, and there is no significant difference of the BK viral DNA positive rate among all patient groups. The JC viral DNA positive rate is almost 0 in serum samples and biopsy. tissues, however, viral DNA positive rate is more than 50% in urine samples. In fibroids group, the JC viral DNA positive rate is up to 65. 3% which is significantly higher than that in other patients groups and healthy control. Further gynecological tumor associated viruses detection showed that only human papilloma virus infection is associated with cervical cancer, the herpes simplex virus, EB virus and cytomegalovirus infection is extremely low in our patient groups. No synergistic effect on gynecological tumor caused by viruses co-infection was observed. Our study showed that JC virus infection is highly related to the pathogenesis of uterine fibroids.

Objective : To explore the mediating effect of sleep quality on mobile phone dependence and loneliness in university students, so as to provide evidence for prevention and intervention of mobile phone dependence. Methods : A survey was conducted from December 2019 and January 2020 among the students of Guangzhou Medical University. The general information questionnaire, mobile phone dependence index scale, UCLA loneliness scale and Pittsburgh sleep quality index scale were used to analyze the mediating effects of sleep quality on mobile phone dependence and loneliness. Results : A total of 575 questionnaires were distributed and 573 valid ones were collected, with an efficiency of 99.65%. The detection rate of 115 students with mobile phone dependence was 20.07%, and that of 203 students with sleep quality problems was 35.43%. The students scored ( 48.03±6.07 ) points in loneliness, and 405 of them had high level. Mobile phone dependence was positively correlated with loneliness and sleep quality ( r=0.299, 0.385, both P<0.05 ); loneliness was positively correlated with sleep quality ( r=0.553, P<0.05 ). Mobile phone dependence and sleep quality both could positively predict loneliness, mobile phone dependence could positively predict sleep quality, and sleep quality and gender had a significant interaction effect on loneliness ( all P<0.05 ). The mediating effect value of sleep quality on mobile phone dependence and loneliness was 0.290 ( 95%CI: 0.186-0.400 ) in males and 0.131 ( 95%CI: 0.084-0.187 ) in females. Conclusion Sleep quality has a mediating effect on mobile phone dependence and loneliness among university students. Male students are susceptible to the negative effects of mobile phone dependence.

Objective To observe protective and repairing effect of Aorui Gel on esophageal mucosa injury in reflux esophagitis rats. Methods Rat models of reflux esophagitis were established by partial pylori ligation plus cardiomyotomy. Model control group,low-,middle-and high-dose Aorui Gel groups,positive control group,excipient control group and sham operation group were set up. Rats were treated with the corresponding drugs 7 days after operation. After treatment for 14 days,the rats'general state,and macroscopic features and pathological features of esophageal mucosa were compared. Results Macroscopic features and pathological features of esophageal mucosa in Aorui Gel groups differed from those in the model control group,inflammation of esophageal mucosa in Aorui Gel groups was alleviated,and pathological features were relieved and arrived to the normal state. Conclusion Aorui Gel can alleviate esophageal mucosa injury in reflux esophagitis rats,indicating that Aorui Gel has protective and repairing effect on esophageal mucosa injury.

OBJECTIVETo study the in vivo anti-tumor effect of Oxytropis kansuensis alkaloid fraction (OKAF) in live cancer cell line H22 and its influence on immune function in KM mice.

METHODSSixty mice with transplanted mouse originated liver cancer cell line H22 were divided randomly into five groups, the three OKAF groups were administrated with OKAF in low (8 mg/kg), moderate (16 mg/kg) and high (32 mg/kg) dosage, the negative control group was administrated with normal saline 20 mL/kg and the positive control with 5-FU 15 mg/kg, respectively, once a day for 10 successive days. Then the average tumor weight (TW), tumor inhibition rate (TIR), spleen index (SI), and thymus index (TI) in them were calculated, and the spleen cell proliferation rate (SCPR) was measured by MTT assay.

RESULTSTIR of low, moderate and high dosage of OKAF was 23%, 29% and 43% respectively. SI and TI in all the three OKAF groups were higher than those in the negative control group, and the two indexes in the moderate and ligh dosage OKAF groups were higher than those in the positive control group (P < 0.05). SCPR in OKAF groups at 24 h, 48 h and 72 h were higher than those in both two control groups at the same time.

CONCLUSIONOKAF shows inhibitory action on liver cancer cell line H22 tumor in KM mice, and it could also enhance the immune function of mice.

Objective To investigate the effects of repeated intrathecally kinesin superfamily protein 17 (KIF17) antisense oligodeoxynucleotide (ODN) on the expression of mLin10 and NR2B in spinal cord in a mouse model of bone cancer pain.Methods Fifty-six male C3H/HeJ mice,aged 4 ～ 6 weeks,weighting 20 ～ 25 g,were randomly divided into two groups:sham operation group (group S,n=20) and bone cancer pain group (group T,n=36).20μl α-minimal essence medium (α-MEM) which containing 2× 105 NCTC2472 osteosarcoma cells was injected into the intramedullary space of the right femur in group T.In group S,no cancer cell was instead.The number of spontaneous flinches (NSF) and the paw withdrawal mechanical threshold (PWMT) were measured at the day before (base) and the days 4,7,10 and 14 after inoculation.According to the corresponding time points,twenty-four mice were sacrificed for determination the expression of KIF17,mLin10 and NR2B using Western blot.Then,the mice of group T were randomly divided into three groups (n=8,T1,T2,T3,group).In group S and group T1,Saline 5 μl was injected intrathecally.KIF17 sense ODN and antisense ODN,5 μg/5μl were respectively injected in group T2 and T3 for 6 consecutive days.Pain behaviors were assessed at the days 2-6 after the first injection.And determinated the KIF17,mLin10 and NR2B expression,again.Results Compared with group S,the NSF was increased and the PWMT was decreased at the days 7,10 and 14 after inoculation in group T (P＜0.05).Compared with the base ((0.65±0.15),(1.06±0.06),(1.01±0.14)),the expression of KIF17,mLin10 and NR2B (14d:(1.13 ±0.06),(2.17 ± 0.37),(1.85 ± 0.32)) were increased at the days 7,10 and 14 after inoculation in group T(P＜0.05).During the course of the injection,compared with group T1 and T2,the NSF was decreased and the PWMT was increased significantly in the group T3(P＜0.05),the expression of KIF17,mLin10 and NR2B((0.88±0.08),(0.96±0.11),(1.03±0.08)) were reduced in group T3 (P＜0.05).Conclusion Intrathecal KIF 17 antisense ODN in the mice of bone cancer pain improves the pain behaviors,and inhibits the up-regulated of KIF17,mLin10 and NR2B during the course of the injection.

Objective To investigate the clinical pathologic significance of lymphangiogenesis in in colorectal cancer. Methods New lymphatic-specific markers D2-40 was used immunohistochemically to detect the lymphatic vessel density(LVD) in the intratumoural and peritumoral areas, and in normal tissue from 96 cases of colorectal cancer, which were analyzed with clinical pathologic parameters of those colorectal cancer. Results Significandy higher LVD was found in the intratumoural area(14.5±2.4), when compared with normal(5.9±1.1)and peritumoural areas(6.7±1.2) (P<0.01). LVD of the peritumoural area was higher than normal area (P< 0.01). However, peritumoural LVD was associated with both depth of invasion and liver metastasis (r=0.71,0.78 P<0.05), but not associated with tumour size, macroscopic type and lymph-node metastasis (P>0.05). Intratu-moural LVD was not correlated with tumour size, macroscopic type, the depth of invasion,lymph-node metastasis, and liver metastasis(P>0.05). Conclusion Lymphangiogenesis in the peritumoural area may be helpful in evalution of liver metastasis and prognosis.
