Recent Advances in Ophthalmology 2017;37(3):285-288
Choroid neovascularization (CNV) is pathological proliferation of choroid vascular, accompanying with bleeding and leakage,is one of the major factors caused blindness,so CNV inhibitors have become a research hotspot. At present, researches on inhibitors of vascular endothelial growth factors and their receptors, endogenous angiogenesis factors, redox and inflammatory response related factors, etc, have achieved certain progresses. In addition,as drugs with multiple targets for treatment, many Chinese herbs also show inhibition effect on CNV.This article reviews the research advances in inhibitors for CNV.

OBJECTIVETo study the content of mineral elements and the principal components in Gastrodia elata.
METHODMineral elements were determined by ICP and the data was analyzed by SPSS.
RESULTK element has the highest content-and the average content was 15.31 g x kg(-1). The average content of N element was 8.99 g x kg(-1), followed by K element. The coefficient of variation of K and N was small, but the Mn was the biggest with 51.39%. The highly significant positive correlation was found among N, P and K . Three principal components were selected by principal components analysis to evaluate the quality of G. elata. P, B, N, K, Cu, Mn, Fe and Mg were the characteristic elements of G. elata.
CONCLUSIONThe content of K and N elements was higher and relatively stable. The variation of Mn content was biggest. The quality of G. elata in Guizhou and Yunnan was better from the perspective of mineral elements.

Objective To study the clinical value of portable echocardiography system in diagnosis for acute paroxysmal dyspnea. Methods Clinical data of 81 patients with acute paroxysmal dyspnea recorded by a portable echocardiography apparatus at their bedside were retrospectively analyzed, and compared to those of 45 patients by conventional echocardiography. Results The 2D images in portable echocardiograph were similar to those of conventional echocardiograph.Diagnosis could be established in 74 (91.4%),corrected in six (7.4%) and not confirmed only in one (1.2%) of 81 patients with acute paroxysmal dyspnea by portable echocardiography system. And,portable echocardiography system could be used to diagnose pericardial effusion and to monitor perieardial puncturing and draining at bedside. Conclusions Portable echocardiography systems can provide rapid, accurate and valuable information on diagnosis and treatment for acute paroxysmal dyspnea, and make its clinical intervention accurate, scientific and effective, bringing echocardiography performed at bedside possible.

One alkaline protease from Actinomucor elegans AS3.2778 was purified protein. The enzyme was purified using ammonium sulfate precipitation, ion exchange chromatography, hydrophobic chromatography and size exclusion chromatography method, and its properties were also investigated. The molecular weight of this enzyme is 32 kDa with SDS-PAGE method, optimum temperature is 60℃, optimum pH is 8.5 to 10.5, it is stable in the pH range of 6.0 to 9.0 at < 40℃ temperature, and being completely inhibited by the serine protease inhibitor, PMSF, indicated that it belongs to the serine protease family. Specificity test indicated this protease has extensive selectivity to peptide bones, especially to peptide bones composed of Leucine residue.

The inhibitory ratio (1%) of artificial musk on cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) was determined by enzyme immunoassay (EIA). The dose-effect relationship between concentrations of artificial musk and 1% was established. It was found that artificial musk had obvious inhibitory action on COX-2. The concentration for 50% of maximum inhibitory effect (IC50) was about 2.26 mg x mL(-1). There was a good relationship between the logarithm concentrations of artificial musk and 1% when the concentrations of artificial musk ranged from 0.31-20.0 mg x mL(-1). The results indicated that this EIA method could be applied to evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity of artificial musk quickly, conveniently, sensitively and exactly. This paper provided a novel method and foundational research for the bioassay of artificial musk.

Objective To investigate whether recombinant human endostatin can create a time window of vascular normalization prior to vascular pruning to alleviate hypoxia in Lewis lung carcinoma in mice. Methods Kinetic changes in morphology of tumor vasculature in response to recombinant human endostatin were detected under a confocal microscope with immunofluorescent staining in Lewis lung carcinomas in mice. The hypoxic cell fraction of different time was assessed with immunohistochemical staining . Effects on tumor growth were monitored as indicated in the growth curve of tumors . Results Compared with the control group vascularity of the tumors was reduced over time by recombinant human endostatin treatment and significantly regressed for 9 days. During the treatment, pericyte coverage increased at day 3, increased markedly at day 5, and fell again at day 7. The vascular basement membrane was thin and closely associated with endothelial cells after recombinant human endostatin treatment, but appeared thickened, loosely associated with endothelial cells in control tumors. The decrease in hypoxic cell fraction at day 5 after treatment was also found. Tumor growth was not accelerated 5 days after recombinant human endostatin treatment. Conclusions Recombinant human endostatin can normalize tumor vasculature within day 3 to 7, leading to improved tumor oxygenation. The results provide important experimental basis for combining recombinant human endostatin with radiation therapy in human tumors.

AIMTo establish the two-dimension information fingerprints chromatograph of traditional Chinese medicine and investigate via pattern recognition.
METHODSHierarchical cluster was applied to fingerprints described by one-dimension information data and by two-dimension information data respectively and corresponding results was compared.
RESULTSThe gross classes, in which the samples denoted by two-dimension information data, classified by all kinds of hierarchical cluster methods had less differences and more robustness than the methods containing the samples expressed by one-dimension information data. The classes to which the unknown samples would be belonged were determined by hierarchical cluster analysis and artificial neural network (ANN), and the same results were obtained.
CONCLUSIONThe fingerprints characterized by two-dimension information data could provide more overall and special information as compared with the methods indicated by one-dimension information data.
