Objective To determine the effects of EGCG on lipopolysaccharide ( LPS)-induced neuroinflamma-tion and investigate the role of neuroprotection mediated by EGCG .Methods Primary cultures of rat gliacyte were used as an in vitro model to examine the effects of EGCG on LPS-induced neuronal damage .The intracellu-lar Glu andγ-GABA were quantified via HPLC .Then the protein level of TNF-α,IL-1βand IL-8 was determined by ELISA and Western blot assay .Results Compared with the control group , LPS apparently induced the pro-duction of intracellular ROS ( P<0.05 ) and released the TNF-α, IL-1βand IL-8 in the primary cultures super-natant (P<0.05).Compared with the LPS group,EGCG significantly attenuated the release of TNF-α, IL-1βand IL-8 ( P<0.05 ) and the level of iNOS protein ( P<0.05 ) .LPS apparently induced the production of intra-cellular ROS( P<0.05 ) and released the TNF-α, IL-1βand IL-8 in the primary cultures supernatant ( P <0.05 ) .EGCG significantly attenuated the release of TNF-α, IL-1βand IL-8 ( P<0.05 ) and the level of iNOS protein(P<0.05), and rugulated the concentration of Glu/γ-GABA(P<0.05).Conclusions EGCG is effective in protecting hosts against LPS-induced neuroinflammation through anti-inflammatory effects and regulating extracel-lular Amino acid levels .

Objective To explore the relationship between cough variant asthma (CVA) and mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infection. Methods Fifty children with CVA were chosen as the experimental group at random, and 50 children with acute upper respiratory infection, who went to the hospital in the same time and with similar age, were chosen as control group. The MP-IgM of children in both groups were tested by the granule agglutinating method. Results Significant difference (? 2=9.013 P

OBJECTIVE:
To observe the expression of discs large homolog 4 (DLG4) protein in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex of rats and evaluate postsynaptic density in heroin dependence.
METHODS:
The rat heroin dependent model was established by increasing intraperitoneal injection of heroin. DLG4 proteins in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex of heroin dependent 9, 18, 36 days rats were detected with immunohistochemical staining and compared with that in the control group.
RESULTS:
DLG4 proteins in hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex were gradually reduced with extension of heroin dependent time.
CONCLUSION
Heroin dependence can affect postsynaptic density of hippocampus, amygdala and frontal cortex. The changes become more apparent with extension of heroin dependence time.

Objective To explore the relationship between social participation and needs for rehabilitation of the disabled in Guangdong Province and to make a proposal for developing the rehabilitation strategies. Meth-ods The data of the Second National Sample Survey of Disabled Persons in Guangdong Province was used in this study. Ranked data analysis was made with the sub-items of the social participation assessment and the main needs of the disabled individuals. Results Significantly statistical differences were revealed with regard to the constitu-ent ratio of needs for rehabilitation services among people with different degrees of difficulties in social participation caused by hearing and visual impairments as well as physical and mental disabilities. No significant difference was found in terms of the constituent ratio of rehabilitation needs among those with difficulties in speech and those with psychiatric diseases. The major rehabilitation needs focused on medical service, assistive apparatus support and functional trainings. Conclusions The rehabilitation needs were different among different categories of disabled persons. Rehabilitation services should be provided accordingly.

The endophytic bacteria of the mangroves were studied in this paper. The results show that there are 1.728 (0. 195 -4.225)?104cfu/g (fw) bacterial endophytes in the variety of mangroves, the most population of the endophytic bacteria was found in Rhizophora stylosa, the figure was4. 225?104cfu/g (fw) , the next was Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, Aegiceras corniculatum, Kandelia candel and Avicennia marina. In parts of the mangroves, the contents of the bacteria in stem was the most, the figure was 1. 649?10 cfu/g (fw) , then the root and the leaf. Of the bacteria, about 43. 53% strains expressed the antagonism against the growth of the plant pathogens, such as Fusarium oxyspontm f. sp. cubense , Colletotrichum sp. and Rahtonia solanaceance etc. and these bacteria were identified as Bacillus sp. . The results also showed that 9 of the 13 strains (69. 23% ) could promote the growth of the tomato, while 4 strains (30. 77% ) restrained the tomato's growth.

Herpes simplex virusⅠ(HSVⅠ) regulating the pathway of transcription and translation modify in host cell is a very systematic and complicate system. A clear understanding of the concrete mechanisms of infection will greatly help to comprehend the virus replication and the interaction with the host cell. By the analysis of 2-DE, the heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein H2 in human fetal liver cell represent distinction after the HSVⅠinfection.Utilization of Northern blot and Western blot technologies verified the expression of hnRNP H2 in different stage of virus infection is varied.

ObjectiveTo identify the framework for assessing health related quality of life(HRQOL) of Kaschin-Beck disease(KBD),in order to reflect the impact of KBD on quality of life in patients with the disease.MethodsQualitative descriptive research was adopted.Semi-open ended questions were developed by using the World Health Organization(WHO) definitions of health and quality of life.Group interview and face to face interviews were conducted on 48 patients with KBD and 29 health care experts on KBD in Linyou and Yongshou counties,Shaanxi province, which were higher prevalence areas of KBD.Content template analysis was conducted and the template was based on the WHOQOL-100's framework.ResultsThe framework of HRQOL for KBD included four domains:physical activity,familial/social support, economic and psychological state. There were also eleven facets which were:pain and discomfort, physical function and activity limitation, diet and sleeping, social relationship, concerns of family responsibilities, social support, economic, housing and the surrounding environment, appearance concerns, mental health, and general state of health. The total entries were 69.ConclusionsThe framework for assessing HRQOL of KBD is established. The framework highlights the impact of KBD on the patients' quality of life with higher specificity.

Objective To investigate the role and intracellular signal transduction mechanism in the injury of renal tubular cells induced by postasphyxial-serum in neonate. Methods Human renal proximal tubular cell(HK-2 cell) was used as target cell. The experiment was designed as:control group, asphyxia group ,and pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate (PDTC)blocking group. The attacking concentration of serum was 20%, and the apoptosis rate of HK-2 cells was detected by flow cytometer. Results Compared with controls[(13.3?1.70)%],after being stimulated with postasphyxial-serum, the apoptosis rate of HK-2 cells of asphyxia group [(46.73?3.68)%] and PDTC blocking group [(31.19?2.79)%]were significantly increased(P

Objective To investigate the role of postasphyxial-serum of neonate in inducing injury of human renal proximal tubular cells(HK-2 cells). Methods HK-2 cells were used as target cell. The neonatal different concentration postasphyxial-serum of 1,3,7 days after asphyxia were used as attacking means. The experimental groups were divided into 15 groups:the 2.5%,5.0%,10.0%,(20.0%) attacking concertration groups of 1,3,7 day after asphyxia and control group of each concertration. The culture medium and concertration of the control group and the experimental groups were the same. The changes of morphology were observed under inverted microscope, the cell viability was measured by 3-(4,5-dimethyl-2-thiazoly1)-2,5-diphenyl-2H-tetrazolium bromide(MTT) method and the leakage rate of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) was determined by biochemical methods. Results Compared with control group, the changes in morphology of HK-2 were most serious and obvious, the cell viability were obviously decreased(all P
