Abstract: Objective　To investigate the molecular characteristics and drug resistance of non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae in Zhongshan City, and to provide laboratory basis for cholera prevention and control. Methods　The strains of non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae isolated from sporadic patients and aquatic products from 2015 to 2021 in Zhongshan city were collected. The identification and cluster analysis of the strains were analyzed by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS), the ctxA virulence gene of strains were detected by real-time fluorescence quantitative PCR, the cluster analysis of the strains was analyzed by pulsed-field gel electrophoresis (PFGE), and the drug resistance of the strains were analyzed by microbroth dilution method. Results　From 2015 to 2021, 33 strains of non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae were isolated from Zhongshan City, including 28 strains from sporadic patients and 5 strains from aquatic products. Through MALDI-TOF-MS identification, 33 strains of non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholera can be identified to the level of species, and the identification results were all Vibrio cholerae. Among 33 non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae strains, 1 strain carried the ctxA virulence gene. The drug-resistant strains accounted for 69.7% (23/33), and the multidrug resistant strains accounted for 18.2% (6/33). A total of 7 kinds of drug resistance spectrum were produced, including 3 kinds of multidrug resistant spectrum, and showed drug resistance to 8 antibiotics, among which the resistance rates to streptomycin, cefazolin and compound sulfamethoxazole were above 30%. The 33 strains of non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae were divided into 32 PFGE fingerprints with a similarity ranging from 61.7% to 100%. MALDI-TOF-MS cluster analysis divided 33 non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae strains into two clusters. Conclusions The results of molecular typing of non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae in Zhongshan City presented diversity, and no significant correlation was found between PFGE and MALDI-TOF-MS cluster analysis. The strains demonstrated various degrees of resistance to certain antibiotics, and there were multidrug-resistant and toxigenic strains. Therefore, it is necessary to alert to the harmfulness of non-O1/non-O139 Vibrio cholerae and enhance monitoring.

Objective To explore the setting of logos on tobacco control information at outlets for retails and restaurants in 12 selected cities of China.Methods For all the shops for retail of tobacco,alcohol,food and restaurants under survey in 333 blocks of 12 cities (Beijing,Tianjin,Shanghai,Qingdao,Hangzhou,Shaoxing,Suzhou,Nantong,Zhenjiang,Chengdu,Xining and Harbin),setting and contents of logos on tobacco control information,inside and outside them were examined.Results 45 700 objectives were included in the study.Among all types of retail shops,the identification rate of tobacco control information at the entrance and inside were 3.6％ and 4.4％,with an overall identification rate as 7.0％.The overall rate at the entrance of all the restaurants was 4.6％ which was larger than the ones at the retail shops.Our result showed that there were differences between cities and types of establishments and higher rates seen in the larger ones.Of all the places that having had placement of information on tobacco control,only 18.5％ of them had put them both inside and outside.Slogans or images on "No Smoking" were the main forms of information but less than 10％ of them would show signs as ‘exclusive non-smoking'.Conclusion Data from our survey showed that the identification rate of tobacco control information was at a low level in 12 cities,and differences were seen between cities,size of establishment,that called for improvement of the existing tobacco control policies in China.

OBJECTIVETo study the durability of expanded polytetrafluoroethylene artificial heart valve (ePTFE AHV).

METHODSSix ePTFE AHVs were tested for 400 million times against accelerated fatigue using TH-2200 artificial heart valve exosomatic accelerated fatigue instrument. Hydromechanical parameters of fore-and-aft accelerated fatigue test of the 6 AHVs were obtained by TH-1200 artificial heart valve exosomatic pulsatile stream instrument.

RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONThe mean gradient pressure spanning the valve and the effective orific area of ePTFE AHVs did not undergo significant changes after fore-and-aft the fatigue test, but the regurgitation volume and regurgitation rate of ePTFE AHVs were reduced after the accelerated fatigue test, suggesting good durability of ePTFE AHV.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the polymorphic distribution of short tandem repeat (STR) sequences D21S1433, D21S1442, D21S1444, D21S2051 in Guangdong Han nationality in China.

METHODSUsing quantitative fluorescens PCR technology, the authors analyzed 200 unrelated samples to acknowledge the allele frequency, heterozygosity and other genetic information.

RESULTSD21S1433, D21S1442, D21S1444, D21S2051 were tested in 200 samples, which were tested to be statistical according to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (P> 0.05), 9, 10, 9 and 5 alleles were detected separately in each STRs. The heterozygosity of each STR was 0.818, 0.820, 0.770, and 0.261. The polymorphic information content > 0.7 in D21S1433, D21S1442, D21S1444, while D21S2051 owned only 0.247 polymorphic information.

CONCLUSIOND21S1433, D21S1442, D21S1444 are found to have high heterozygosity and polymorphic information content, and they could provide useful markers for genetic purposes, while D21S2051 is not informative in Guangdong Han nationality in China.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the clinical characteristics of intracranial hematoma and the mechanism involved in its rapid natural resolution.

METHODSSeventeen cases of intracranial hematoma with typical clinical and CT manifestations were retrospectively studied.

RESULTSIntracranial hematoma was found obviously decreased in size within 72 h after its occurrence in 8 cases. The rest 9 cases presented complete resolution.

CONCLUSIONSRapid natural resolution of acute epidural hematoma is mostly found in teenagers and the resolution is correlated with cranial fracture at the hematoma site. As for acute subdural hematoma, its rapid resolution is associated with the transfer of cerebrospinal fluid toward subdural space, the lavage effect, and the compression caused by the increased intracranial pressure or the space left resulting from redistribution of the hematoma in brain atrophy.

BACKGROUND: Clinical ligation of traditional brackets by stainless steel ligature wires has greater randomness among doctors, and previous studies have mainly concerned on brackets and wires. There are less studies on the differential frictional force due to tight or loose ligation, and moreover, how to define tight ligation or loose ligation is rarely reported. OBJECTIVE: To compare the frictional force of different archwires in multiple brackets with various ligations. METHODS: A plaster model with moderate crowded malocclusion was randomly selected, and copied by 3D digital scanning technologies and Objet30 OrthoDesk3D printing technologies. Then, the models were bonded with Damon Clear brackets, Damon 3MX brackets, 3M traditional MBT brackets and Habit monocrystal brackets. Frictional forces of different brackets on models combined with two types of low frictional NiTi archwires which were 0.30 mm (0.012 inch) and 0.36 mm (0.014 inch) were measured by microcomputer servo dynamometer. Traditional brackets were ligatured by tight ligation and loose ligation, respectively. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: (1) When low-friction NiTi archwires of 0.30 mm were used, significant differences in the frictional force were found between different brackets with various ligations except for Damon Clear bracket versus 3M bracket with loose ligation as well as Damon Clear bracket versus Damon 3MX bracket (P ＜ 0.05). (2) When low-friction NiTi archwires of 0.36 mm were used, similarity in the frictional force was found between 3M bracket with loose ligation, Damon Clear bracket and Damon 3MX bracket, while there were no significant differences between 3M bracket with loose ligation and Damon 3MX, between 3M bracket with tight ligation and Habit bracket with loose ligation, as well as between Damon Clear bracket and 3M bracket with loose ligation (P ＞ 0.05). Comparing two kinds of archwires, the friction force showed no statistical difference between Damon Clear bracket and 3M bracket with loose and tight ligation (P ＞ 0.05), but a statistical difference was found between Damon 3MX bracket and Habit bracket (P ＜ 0.001), whatever two conventional brackets with tight ligation or loose ligation. To conclude, conventional MBT bracket with loose ligation can reduce frictional force as similar as self-ligating bracket in the alignment phase, and the reduction in the friction force is impacted by archwire size and bracket material.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expression and the subcellular localization of HDAC9 in different brain regions of mice after cerebral ischemic injury and explore the association between HDAC9 and ischemic stroke.

METHODSTwenty-one male C57BL/6 mice were randomly divided into sham-operated group (n=9) and operated group (n=12). In the latter group, the mice with Zea-Longa neurological deficit scores of 2 or 3 following middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) were assigned into MCAO group (n=9). Immunofluorescence was performed to investigate the subcellular localization of HDAC9 in the brain tissues on day 3 after MCAO. Western blotting and qRT-PCR were used to analyze the expression of HDAC9 in different regions of the brain. Results Immunofluorescence showed more intense HDAC9 expressions in the brain tissues around the infarct focus, and in the cells surrounding the infarct, HDAC9 expression was obviously increased in the cytoplasm and reduced in the cell nuclei. Compared with the other brain regions, the ipsilesional cortex with MCAO showed more abundant HDAC9 expressions at both the mRNA and protein levels (P<0.05).

CONCLUSIONHDAC9 may be closely related to cerebral ischemic injury and participate in the pathophysiological process of ischemic stroke.

Objective:To discuss the pathological relationship between P33ING1 and stomach cancer and its clinical significance. Methods: In 71 cases of stomach cancer specimen, twelve cases of gas tric mu cous membrane atypical hyperplasia tissues and 18 cases of normal gastric mucous membrane tissue（as control）,the expression of P33ING1 were detected b y EnVision immunohistochemical method,while the expression of P53 and Bcl -2 in stomach cancer were also detected. Results: P33IN G1 expression in mucous membrane atypical hyperplasia group and control group was positive, the expression in stomach cancer group was extremely low(62.0%，44 /71), significantly different from the other 2 groups(P<0.01).P33ING1 expression in stomach cancer was related to the tumor growth, lymph node meta s tasis and tumor polarization (P<0.01), P53 expression was related to tumor s ize, growth and lymph node metastasis (P<0.01). Bcl-2 expression was relate d to lymph node metatasis and tumor polarization.The expression of P33ING1 was related to that of P53 in stomach cancer(P<0.05),while had no relation with that of Bcl-2.Conclusion:P33ING1 may play an importa nt role in the occurrance and development of stomach cancer.It's very important to detect the expression of P33ING1 and P53 simultaneously.

OBJECTIVETo establish a stable and reliable model of Sertoli-cell-only syndrome in mice.

METHODSWe randomly divided 60 NIH mice into two groups of equal number to receive intraperitoneal injection of busulfan (30 mg/kg) and 30 or 60 minutes of testis cooling. At 2, 4 and 8 weeks after treatment, we recorded the survival rate of the mice, weight of the testis and Johnsen scores, and conducted quantitative analysis on the degrees of spermatogenetic failure.

RESULTSThere were no significant differences in the baseline body weight and survival rate between the intervention and control groups (P > 0.05). At 4 and 8 weeks, the testis weight and Johnsen score were significantly lower in the intervention group than in the control ([0.04 +/- 0.01] g and [0.05 +/- 0.01] g vs [0.09 +/- 0.03] g and [0.11 +/- 0.02] g, P < 0.05; 3.86 +/- 0.50 and 2.70 +/- 0.67 vs 9.60 +/- 0.25 and 9.76 +/- 0.43, P < 0.01). At 2, 4 and 8 weeks, the testis weights were (0.07 +/- 0.02) g, (0.06 +/- 0.01) g and (0.09 +/- 0.01) g, respectively, in the 30-min cooling group and (0.05 +/- 0.01) g, (0.04 +/- 0.02) g and (0.04 +/- 0.02) g in the 60-min cooling group, significantly lower than in the control side at the same time points ([0.11 +/- 0.01] g, [0.11 +/- 0.01] g and [0.12 +/- 0.00] g) (P < 0.05), and the Johnsen scores were 4.70 +/- 0.67, 2.70 +/- 0.84 and 6.10 +/- 1.14 in the 30-min and 1.67 +/- 0.58, 1.20 +/- 0.45 and 1.00 +/- 0.00 in the 60-min cooling group, remarkably lower than in the control side (9.60 +/- 3.23, 9.60 +/- 0.55 and 9.70 +/- 0.45) (P < 0.01). Histopathological examination of the cooled testes revealed considerable atrophy of seminal tubules, necrosis of seminiferous epithelia and peritubular fibrosis.

CONCLUSIONAdministration of busulfan has no obvious influence on the survival of mice, and is a reliable method for constructing a mouse model of Sertoli-cell-only syndrome.
