Objective To evaluate the CT appearance of the hepatocellular carcinomas (HCC) supplied by the right inferior phrenic arteries (RIPA). Methods A total of 195 consecutive cases of HCCs examined with helical CT and arteriography were studied. 15 proven HCCs cases were supplied by the RIPA. On arterial phase CT images, the size of the RIPA, the left inferior phrenic arteries, and HCCs were measured, and the origin of RIPA and the location of HCCs were recorded. The CT findings in these 15 cases were correlated with arteriographic images. Results CT showed RIPA on the right diaphragmatic crus as high attenuation in all patients. The origin of RIPA was demonstrated in 11 cases. The diameter of the RIPA (3.1?1.1) mm was larger than that of the left inferior phrenic artery (1.3?0.4) mm ( P

Objective To investigate the influence of body temperature on the recovery from vecuronium-induced neuromuscular block. Methods Sixty-eight ASA I - II patients (39 male, 29 female) aged 19-69 yr undergoing elective surgery under general anesthesia were randomly divided into 2 groups: group I in which patients' body temperature was maintained at 37 ℃ using warming blanket; group II in which no measures were taken to maintain the patients' body temperature. The patients were premedicated with phenobarbital 2 mg?kg-1 and atropine 0.01 mg? kg-1 intramuscularly. Anesthesia was induced with fentanyl 5 ?g? kg -1, propofol 2 mg? kg-1 and vecuronium 0. 1 mg?kg-1 . After tracheal intubation anesthesia was maintained with inhalation of 0.8%-2.5% isoflurane and propofol infusion at a rate of 2-4 mg ? kg-1? h-1 .Neuromuscular block was monitored using accelograph (Biometer, Denmark) .The changes in TOF and T1 were monitored. T1was maintained at 10% by vecuronium infusion during operation. At the end of operation a bolus of vecuronium 80?g ? kg-1 was given intravenously and T1 was completely depressed. The time for T1 to returned to 5% ,25% and 90% and the time required for T1 to return from 25 % to 75 % were recorded. The total amount of vecuronium given was recorded. Temperature probe was placed in the esophagus ( core temperature) . The room temperature was also recorded. Results The body temperature was lower, the total dose of vecuronium was smaller and the vecuronium-induced neuromuscular block lasted longer in group II as compared with group I . There was close correlation between body temperature and vecuronium-induced neuromuscular block. Conclusions Lower core body temperature could prolong the vecuronium-induced neuromuscular block.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of Guishen Pill (GSP) on expression levels of Oct-4, MVH, and Egr-1 in mice with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR).
METHODSTotally 40 female C57BL/6J mice were randomly divided into 4 groups, the normal control group, the model group, the GSP group, and the dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) group, 10 in each group. Pregnant mare serum gonadotropin (PMSG), human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG), and prostaglandin F2α (PGF2α) were sequentially administrated to produce superovulation. The DOR model was established by exposing to ozone inhalation. Mice in the GSP group were intragastrically administered with GSP at 0.3 mL. Those in the DHEA group were intragastrically administered with DHEA at 0.3 mL. Equal volume of normal saline was intragastrically administered to mice in the normal control group and the model group. All mice wer treated for 21 days. Serum levels of estrogen (E2), progestogen (P), and anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) were measured by ELISA. Changes of Oct-4, anti-AMH, and early growth response gene-1 (Egr-1) mRNA in ovaries were dtected by Real-time PCR.
RESULTSCompared with the model group, serum levels of E2, P, and AMH, as well as contents of estrogen receptor (ER), progestogen receptor (PR), MVH, and Oct-4 mRNA significantly increased in the GSP group and the DHEA group (P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONGSP could improve expression levels of Oct-4, MVH, and Egr-1 mRNA in DOR mice and their ovarian function.

Objective To report a case of foot hyalohyphomycosis due to Fusarium subglutinans. Methods Medical history was collected and physical examination performed for this patient.Biopsy samples were obtained from the inner side of right ankle of this patient and subjected to pathological examination. Discharge was collected from the lesions for direct microscopic examination and culture. Results A 72-year-old woman presented with an ulcer on the right foot for 3 years.Physical examination disclosed an ulcer, measuring 3 cm x 1.5 cm,with a moist surface and obvious tenderness,at the inner side of the right ankle.Proliferation of dusky-red granulomatous tissue was observed at the base of the ulcer.Pathological examination revealed necrotic granulomatous tissue and slender, septate and hyaline hypha-like structure in the superficial dermis with scattered infiltration of inflammatory cells.PAS staining showed sausage-like hypha and scattered orbicular-ovate spores.Microscopic examination of lesional discharge exhibited septate, branching and hyaline hypha. The isolated fungus was identified as Fusarium subglutinans by culture, and appeared to be highly sensitive to terbinafine, nystatin and amphotericin B.The lesion completely healed after 2 months of treatment with oral terbinafine (0.25 g,twice a day). Conclusions This is a case of foot hyalohyphomycosis due to Fusarium subglutinans, and terbinafine is effective for this condition.
8.Recent advance on LFA-1/ICAM-1 costimulatory signal of T cell-review.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2004;12(4):533-537
LFA-1/ICAM-1 costimulation plays an important role in immunologic reaction of many different T cell populations. After TCR/CD3 complex cross-linking MHC/peptide, LFA-1, expressed on T cell increases a higher affinity and avidity for ICAM-1 rapidly. LFA-1 is a key molecule in formation of the immune synapse. LFA-1/ICAM-1 costimulation can engage various signaling events of T cell by up-regulating the activities of PI 3-kinase, sphingomyelinase, and c-Jun NH2-terminal kinase. With the costimulation of LFA-1/ICAM-1, engagement of TCR molecules results in a significant increase of T cell activities, including higher Th1 cytokines production, strongly proliferative response and higher T cell cytotoxicity.

Background Doxycycline is a broad spectrum antibiotic, and it is frequently used in the treatment of ocular surface diseases. Objective The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effect of doxycycline on the inhibition of cell proliferation in bovine corneal myofibroblasts in vitro and assess its contribution to ocular surface repairing mechanism. Methods Six fresh bovine corneas were collected. The corneal stromal layer was isolated by two-step method of 1.0 g/L and 2.0 g/L collegenase-1.Isolated cells were plated at mantaryay culture flask in 10% FBS of RPMI-1640.Vimentin and alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) organization were evaluated by immunocytochemistry, and the cells with influoresccence staining for vimentin and α-SMA were identified as the corneal myofibroblasts.Doxycycline at the concentrations of 10,20,40,60,80 mg/L was added to the medium, respectively,in different concentrations of doxycycline groups.Dexamethasone (120 mg/L)was used in the same way in the positive control group, and no drug was used in the negative control group.Cell proliferation was evaluated by MTT and the cell cycle was analyzed by BD FACScan flow cytometer assay 24 hours and 48 hours after addition of any drug. Results The cells grew well and showed the positive response for vimentin and α-SMA.MTT assay showed that the A570values of bovine corneal myofibroblasts were gradually declined with the increase of the concentration of doxycycline and lapse of active time, showing statistically significant difference (Fconcentration =1233.778,P<0.001 ; Ftime =227.564,P < 0.001).And the difference between the two factors was also statistically significant (Ftime*concentration =51.656,P<0.001).Flow cytometry cell cycle analysis showed that 24 hours after 10,20,40,60,80 mg/L doxycycline treated, the perentage of of corneal myofibroblast cell in G0-G1 phase was 82.85%,84.36%,85.18%,87.12 % and 89.31%,showing significant increase in comparison with 63.89% of the negative control group (all P<0.05),and that of 40 mg/L doxycycline group was near the positive control group.Forty-eight hours after 10,20,40,60,80 mg/L doxycycline treated, the perentage of of corneal myofibroblast cell in G0-G1 phase was 82.78%,86.15%,88.23%,89.57%,93.00%,with significant increase in comparison with 70.17% of the negative control group (all P < 0.01),and that of 40 mg/L doxycycline group was near the positive control group. Conclusions The growth of the bovine corneal myofibroblasts is inhibited by doxycycline in time-and dosedependent manner in the range from 10 mg/L to 80 mg/L,and 40 mg/L of doxycycline has an obviously inhibitory action as 120 mg/L dexamethasone.
10.Effects of rhG-CSF on T cell during peripheral blood stem/progenitor cell mobilization and its mechanisms--review.
Journal of Experimental Hematology 2005;13(2):338-342
Recombinant human granulocyte-colony-stimulating factor (rhG-CSF) can widely regulate human immunologic response. In the protocol of peripheral blood stem/progenitor cell mobilization, rhG-CSF can change the numbers and functions of T cells. Then the results can impact the incidence of graft-versus-host disease after allogeneic peripheral blood stem/progenitor cell transplantation. The regulation of rhG-CSF on T cell is an indirect action which is based on the direct action to monocytes and dendritic cells. The numerous IL-10 secreted by monocytes plays a key role in cytokines production, proliferative response and cytotoxicity of T cells. Endogenous IL-10 can induce high expression of SOCS3 and the SOCS3 is very important for regulating the signal transduction of the activities of T cells. In this review influences of rhG-CSF on T-cells in mobilization process and related mechanisms were elaborated with emphasis.
