Aim Toinvestigatetheeffectofginkgolide B on apoptosis in high glucose-treated endothelial cells. Methods Humanumbilicalveinendothelial cells(HUVECs)were used in the present study. The level of transmigration of HUVECs was analyzed by Tr-answell experiment.Apoptosis was detected by flow cy-tometry.Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS ) was meas-ured by immunofluorescence kit.The protein expres-sionwasanalyzedbyWesternblot.Result Highglu-cose treatment resulted in a reduction in transmigration of HUVECs and ginkgolide B recovered the phenome-non in glucose-treated endothelial cells. The level of ROS generation was increased in high glucose-treated group, whereas ginkgolide B inhibited ROS genera-tion.Immunofluorescence data showed high glucose in-creased apoptosis, whereas ginkgolide B inhibited ap-optosis in high glucose-treated HUVECs.Moreover, the expressions of Bax and caspase-3 were increased and Bcl-2 was reduced in high glucose-treated group. In contrast, ginkgolide B abolished the expressions of Bax and caspase-3 and increased Bcl-2 expression. Moreover, high glucose enhanced the expression and phosphorylation of p53,while ginkgolide B suppressed the expression and phosphorylation of p53 induced by highglucose. Conclusions GinkgolideBcaninhibit apoptosis and improve transmigration function in high glucose-treated HUVECs.Ginkgolide B has protection against high glucose-induced endothelial cell injury.

OBJECTIVETo study the clinical effect of the Gartland III humerus supracondylar fractures in children by manipulative reduction and Kirschner wire percataneous internal fixation.
METHODSFrom July 2010 and July 2013, 60 patients with Gartland III humerus supracondylar fracture were selected and divided into treatment group and control group. In the treatment group 32 patients were treated with traditional bone setting tetradeca-manipulative reduction and percataneous Kirschner wire internal fixation, included 18 males and 14 females with an average age of (7.8 +/- 2.7) years old ranging from 5 to 11; in the control group 28 patients were treated with open reduction and Kirschner wire internal fixation, included 16 males and 12 females with an average age of (7.2 +/- 3.0) years old ranging from 4 to 12. The motion range of the elbow joint, the time of fracture clinical healing, and the effect after 6 months of Flynm clinical functional assessment standards were observed and compared.
RESULTSThe average fracture healing time of the control group (5.01 +/- 0.43) weeks was longer than that of the treatment group (4.29 +/- 0.29) weeks (t = 7.49, P = 0.00). At 6 months after treatment, the elbow motion range of the treatment group (146.02 +/- 2.28) was more than that of the control group (140.76 +/- 4.42) (t = -5.67, P = 0.00). At 6 months after treatment, according to Flynn evaluation, in the control group, there were 7 cases as excellent, 16 as good, 4 fair, 1 poor; in the treatment group, excellent in 21, good in 9, fair in 2 (U = 3.09, P = 0.002).
CONCLUSIONManipulative reduction and Kirschner wire percataneous internal fixation for treatment of children's Gartland III humerus condyle fractures can shorten fracture clinical healing time and the clinical curative effect is better.

Background and purpose: Most of the patients with esophageal cancers were late stage cases when diagnosed clinically. Since the prognosis is very poor, it is extremely important to improve the quality of life (QOL) of these patients. Concurrent chemoradiotherapy is an effective modality for esophageal cancer. However, effects on quality of life of chemoradiotherapy are rarely reported domestically. Our purpose was to assess the immediate effect on the quality of life in patients with primary esophageal carcinoma. Methods: QOL was assessed by the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30) Chinese edition. Fifty-two patients were randomized to receive either concurrent chemoradiotherapy (CRT) or late course accelerated hyperfractionated radiotherapy (LAHF). QOL questionnaires were given before therapy and at the 4th week during radiotherapy, the completion of radiotherapy, and then after 1 and 3 months after the completion of radiotherapy, respectively. Results: It has been observed that the scores of global health status, physical functioning, role functioning and social functioning during the radiotherapy and from completion of radiotherapy to 1 month post radiotherapy in CRT and LAHF groups, deteriorated temporarily, but it were not significant when compared with those before radiotherapy (P>0.05). However, global health status scores, physical functioning scores, role functioning scores were significantly improved in patients who received CRT at 3 months post radiotherapy. Mean scores were improved by 12.0±3.7 (P=0.012),8.1±2.9 (P=0.023) and 14.8±5.2 (P=0.015), respectively. Nausea and vomiting, pain and appetite loss scales scores rapidly recovered to the baseline level after therapy, although they were worsened during therapy. Conclusion: Global health status scores, physical functioning scores and role functioning scores were significantly improved at 3 months after radiotherapy in patients treated by CRT. In terms of QOL, CRT is a feasible modality for esophageal cancer.
