Objective To explore the effect of valproate(VPA) on body mass index(BMI),leptin and serum lipids in children with epilepsy. Methods (Twenty-)four cases with epilepsy were selected.BMI and serum levels of leptin, total cholesterol(TC),(triacylgly)-cerol(TG),high density lipoprotein-cholesterin(HDL-C),low density hipoprotein-cholesterin(LDL-C) after treated with VPA for 3 months and 6 months were determined. Results The levels of BMI,leptin,TC,TG,LDL-C after treated 3 months were all significantly higher than those of initial(all P0.05).Those in treated 6 months were same as levels of treated 3 months.Only LDL-C level was lower than that of 3 months and same as level of before treatment. Conclusion VPA do have efficacy to cause obesity in children with epilepsy, and most of the cases occur in the first 3 months after VPA treatment.

Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1985;0(06):-
Hepatic ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI)is a critical problem of liver surgery, especially when comes to liver transplantation.Presently.there are no effective measures for diagnosis, prevention and therapy of IRI,as the mechanisms of IRI still remain unclear. This review summarizes several new hepatic ischemia-reperfusion markers related to cell signal transduetion pathway.including transcription factor STAT,HIF-1 and PPARs,transmission factor MAPK,membrane receptor TLR4 and PARs.and iNOS.Animal studies have indicated that IRI was ameliorated by activating or blockading these markers, which might serve as targets for diagnosis, prevention and therapy of IRI.

OBJECTIVETo explore the clinical application of mandibular-driven simultaneous maxillo-mandihular distraction to correct hemifacial microsomia with rapid prototyping technology.
METHODSThe patient' s skull resin model was manufactured with rapid prototyping technology. The osteotomy was designed on skull resin model. According to the preoperative design, the patients underwent Le Fort I osteotomy and mandibular ramus osteotomy. The internal mandible distractor was embedded onto the osteotomy position. The occlusal titanium pin was implanted. Distraction were carried out by mandibular-driven simultaneous maxillo-mandihular distraction 5 days after operation.
RESULTSThe distraction in five patients was complete as designed. No infection and dysosteogenesis happened. The longest distance of distraction was 28 mm, and the shortest distance was 16 mm. The facial asymmetry deformity was significantly improved at the end of distraction. The ocelusal plane of patients obviously improved.
CONCLUSIONSRapid prototyping technology is helpful to design precisely osteotomy before operation. Mandibular-driven simultaneous maxillo-mandibular distraction can correct hemifacial microsomia. It is worth to clinical application.

Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2011;31(1):33-36
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the therapeutic effect of Chaipo Granule (CPG) combined with routine treatment on refractory asthma.
METHODSSixty patient with refractory asthma were assigned equally in a double-blind, randomized way to the treatment group and the control group. Routine treatment (including regular inhalation of salmeterol and fluticasone propionate 50/250 microg, and if necessary, inhalation of salbutamol + ipratropium bromide) were given to all patients. CPG (3 pouches every time, twice a day) were administered to the treatment group in addition, while to the control group, placebo with similar appearance in equal volume was given. The therapeutic course for all was 24 weeks. Asthma control test (ACT) scoring and lung function tests (FEV1 and PEF) were performed before treatment and at the end of the 4th, 12th and 24th week; daily records of asthma, dose of hormone used, withdrawal reaction and adverse reaction occurred were monitored, and serum levels of cortisol, total IgE and cytokines (IL-4, IL-5, IL-13 and IFN-gamma) were measured before treatment and at terminating the 24-week treatment.
RESULTSSymptoms and lung function were significantly improved after treatment in both groups, but the improvements were better in the treatment group than the control group at all time points, the difference between groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). Levels of IL-5, IL-13, total IgE decreased, IFN-gamma and Cor increased in all patients after 24-week treatment, but the improvements in the treatment group was more significant, with statistical difference between groups (P < 0.05); the mean hormone withdrawal time in the treatment group was (14.6 +/- 5.1) days, with the incidence of systemic withdrawal reactions of 20%, while those in the control group was (22.1 +/- 6.8) days and 36.7% correspondingly, the difference between groups was statistically significant (P < 0.05). However, one patient in the treatment group quit the trial due to a severe seizure of asthma. No obvious treatment-related side effects appeared in the treatment group, except that 3 patients suffered from slight abdominal pain.
CONCLUSIONSCPG could improve the clinical symptoms and lung function, facilitate to Th1/Th2 balance and enhance the secretion of adrenal cortex. It is an effective and safe Chinese herbal remedy for treatment of refractory asthma.

Isolation and purification of chemical constituents from solid culture of endophyte Chaetomium globosum in Imperata cylindrical was performed through silica gel column chromatography, gel filtration over Sephadex LH-20 and preparative HPLC. Nine compounds were obtained and their structures were determined as chaetoglobosin F(1), chaetoglobosin Fex(2), chaetoglobosin E(3) cytoglobosin A(4), penochalasin C(S), isochaetoglobosin D (6), N-benzoylphenylalaninyl-N-benzoyphenylalaninate(7), uracil(8) and 5-methyluracil(9), respectively, based on HR-MS and NMR data and comparison with literatures. Compound 7 was isolated from Chaeeomium sp. for the first time. In vitro cytotoxicity of compounds was evaluated using MTT mothed and 1,3,4 and 5 showed inhibition activity to the human cervical carcinoma cell HeLa with IC50 values of 99.43, 23.77, 97.92, 86.25 micromol x L(-1), while positive cotolocisnin Ad apno1ch alse IC50 24.33 micromol x L(-1).

Microbiology is an important, fundamental and obligatory course in contemporary life science. This article introduces that teaching group of microbiology in Nankai University realizes transformation of teaching center, fully embodies the modernization of teaching notion and gives full play to students' main effect practically by adhering to teaching reform as center, optimizing teaching method as measure, communicating in and after class and using multi-media and teaching web. Therefore, teaching system is established to adapt to modern teaching notion and eventually microbiology course becomes a cultivation platform to foster elites with both solid fundamental theory and innovating mind.
10.The Progress on Electron Transport Pathway and Catalytic Mechanism of Copper-containing Nitrite Reductase

Microbiology 2008;0(07):-
Nitrite reductases (NiRs) are the key enzymes in the denitrification pathway of the nitrogen cycle. By the catalysis of NiRs, the nitrites are turned into nitric oxides and the nitrogen pollution is decreased in water body. NiRs are divided into two different types based on their prosthetic groups, namely heme-containing nitrite reductases (cd1-NiRs) and Copper-containing nitrite reductases (Cu-NiRs). As all know, Cu-NiRs have trimeric structures, in their each monomer, there exist two types of Cu centers that play pivotal roles as the components of electron transfer pathway in the process of catalysis. Furthermore, some residues alteration of Cu-NiRs would contribute to the catalytic reaction. In this review, the latest progresses about the construction features, the process of electron transfer and catalytic mechanism of Cu-NiRs were discussed.
