Objective To test the role of a bioartificial kidney which consisted of a continuous vein-vein hemofiltration (CVVH) system and renal proximal tubule cells (PTCs)device, also called the renal tubule assist device (RAD),in endotoxin shock. Methods Female crossbred pigs 25 to 30 kg received with 3×1011 bacteria / kg body weight of E.coli intraperitoneally followed by treatment with a sham RAD without cells (n=7) or a RAD with cells (n=7). Data on blood pressure, cardiac output, renal blood flow and systemic marker of inflammation (IL-6) were measured. Results Cardiac outputs and renal blood flows were higher in the RAD group with cells than in the sham RAD group after E.coli infusion (P<0.05). Plasma IL-6 levels were lower in the cell RAD group than in the sham RAD group after bacterial administration (P<0.05). A significant difference on survival time was also observed between the two groups,with(9.07 ± 0.88) h in the cell RAD group vs. (5.10 ± 0.46)h in the sham RAD group, P< 0.01.Conclusion The bioartificial kidney containing PTCs can improve cardiovascular function, reduce cytokine levels, and prolong survival time.

Abstract?AIM: To analyze the effects of femtosecond laser assisted cataract surgery ( FLACS ) in the treatment of cataract and its effect on prognosis.?METHODS:Forty-two cases (42 eyes) of patients with cataract who were treated in the Department of Ophthalmology in our hospital between January 2012 and December 2014 were selected as the study objects. According to the order of treatment, they were divided into control group and observation group, 21 cases in each. The control group was treated with traditional phacoemulsification cataract surgery ( PCS ) . On the basis, the observation group was treated with femtosecond laser. The effective phacoemulsification time (EPT), cumulative dissipated energy (CDE), fluid flow and monitored pressure of the two groups were recorded. The rate of corneal endothelial loss and the situation of Tyndall phenomenon were statistically analyzed. The two groups were followed up for 1a.The long-term visual acuity recovery was observed. The best corrected visual acuity ( BCVA ) was recorded, and the long-term complications were statistically analyzed.?RESULTS: 1 ) The total response rate in observation group was 95% while in control group was 90% ( P>0.05);2) the surgery time of the observation group was longer than that of the control group ( P<0.05) but EPT was shorter than that of the control group.CDM and liquid flow were less than those of the control group ( P<0.05 ); 3 ) at 1d after surgery, there was no significant difference in intraocular pressure between the two groups (P>0.05); the rates of Tyndall phenomenon and corneal endothelial loss in the observation group were lower than those in the control group ( P<0.05);4) BCVA of the two groups at different time after surgery were significantly higher than that before surgery (P<0.05). However, at 1d, 3mo, 6mo and 1a after surgery, BCVA of the observation group was better than that of the control group ( P <0.05 ); 5 ) the incidence of complications in the observation group after surgery (14%) was lower than that in the control group (43%) (P<0.05).?CONCLUSION: The surgical effects of FLACS in the treatment of cataract are good. After surgery, the visual acuity of patients is improved significantly and the incidence of postoperative complications is low. However, the surgery time is long and cost is high, so it is difficult to popularize.

Objective To investigate the effect of TanshinoneⅡA on nerve conduction of oxaliplatin induced peripheral neuropathy in rats. Methods Fifty Wistar rats were randomly divided into normal control group, model group, treatment group, prevention group, prevention and treatment group. Except for those in model group, Wistar rats were injected i.p. with oxaliplatin (20 mg/kg). The electrophysiological instrument were employed to detect the sciatic nerve conduction velocity, latency, amplitude 6 h, 24 h, 72 h and 7 d after modeling. Results In the model group, velocity of sciatic nerve conduction slowed, and latency prolonged 24 h after modeling (P<0.05) which continued to slow and prolong until 7 d after modeling (P<0.05). After the application of Tanshinone ⅡA, nerve conduction velocity became faster and latency shorter significantly (P <0.05), especially in the prevention and treatment group, in which no significant difference was found when compared with those in the normal control group (P > 0.05). Conclusions During the chemotherapy with oxaliplatin , TanshinoneⅡA can increase the conduction velocity of sciatic nerve , shorten the disease duration and play a protective role for peripheral nerve.

This study is to investigate the effect of ethyl gallate on invasion capabilities and its mechanism of breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells. Using cell adhesion and transwell assay, separately, the effects of ethyl gallate on the invasion of MDA-MB-231 cells were measured. The Akt-NF-κB signal pathway protein expressions were analyzed with Western blot. Also, the mRNA levels of MMP-9 and MMP-2 were analyzed by RT-PCR. Ethyl gallate inhibited the abilities of motility, adhesion and invasion of breast cancer MDA-MB-231 cells in vitro (P<0.05), inhibited the mRNA levels of MMP-9, MMP-2, phosphorylation of AKt and protein expression of NF-κB. It is concluded that ethyl gallate can inhibit the abilities of invasion of breast cancer in vitro by inhibiting the mRNA levels of MMP-9/MMP-2, phosphorylation of Akt and protein expression of NF-κB.

Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2013;(2):172-176
Background Central corneal thickness (CCT) is one of important parameters of the anterior eye segment. It plays a very important part in corneal refractive surgery and diagnosis of glaucoma.Contacted A-scan remains the gold standard for CCT measurement.Ophthalmologists are trying to look for a more convenient and noncontacted instrument to take place of contacted A-scan for CCT measurement. Objective This system analysis was to evaluate the difference between Pentacam and A-scan in CCT measurement. Methods A systematic literature retrieval was conducted from the MEDLINE,EMbase,Google Scholar,CBM disc and CNKI database with the limitation of publishing time from January 2005 to May 2011.The literature text was limited to the comparison of the CCT values measured by Pentacam and A-scan.The statistical analysis was performed using RevMan 5.1.0 software.Sensitive analysis was carried out and the publishing bias was analyzed using inverted funnel plot. Results A total of 26 studies met the requirement were included in this Meta-analysis with the 12 pieces of Chinese article and 14 pieces of English article, with the total eyes 3677.Heterogeneity was found anmong included studies (P =0.0003,I2 =56%) and random effects model was used. The differential value of CCT derived by Pentacam and A-scan was 1.74 μm,and no significant difference was found between Pentacam and A-scan (WMD =1.74,95% CI:-0.69-4.16,P>0.05).Fixed effects model was used to exclude the studies with the sample more than 100 eyes as the sensitive analysis. When fixed effect model was used,CCT by Pentacam was 2.73 μm more than A-scan,showing an insignificantly clinical difference. When studies with a sample more than 100 eyes were excluded, the CCT value by Pentacam was 2.64 μm more than A-scan,without clinically significant difference between them.No obvious publishing bias was seen in the included literature. Conclusions The difference between Pentacam and A-scan in CCT measurement is less and could be ignored.

Chinese Journal of Immunology 1985;0(01):-
Objective: To investigate the mRNA expression of chemokine receptors in human villi and trophoblasts of first trimester gestation . Methods: The authors first obtained villous tissues from fifteen women who had undergone selective termination at 5 - 10 weeks of normal gestation. Total RNA was then extracted, using the TRIzol reagent, from villous tissues or Percoll-gradient purified trophoblasts. Consequently, the expressions of chemokine receptors in villous tissues and trophoblasts were investigated by way of semi-quantitative reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction. Results: The chemokine receptors, CXCR4 and CXCR6, were highly expressed in each villous tissue, while the CCR6, CCR7, XCR1 and CX3CR1 were moderately expressed in villi. The chemokine receptors, CCR1- CCR5, CCR8 - CCR10, CXCR1 -CXCR3, were expressed only in some villous samples, while no CXCR5 mRNA was found in any villous tissue. The authors also found that the freshly isolated and Percoll-purified trophoblasts expressed CCR1, CCR3 - CCR5, CCR8 - CCR9, CXCR1 - CXCR4, CXCR6, XCR1 and CX3CR1 mRNA. Conclusion: A variety of chemokine receptors were expressed in villous tissues and trophoblasts of human first trimester gestation, hence, these receptors may play an important biological role at the materno-fetal interface in normal human pregnancy.

Chinese Journal of Radiology 2001;0(08):-
Objective To investigate the MRI and echocardiography manifestations of noncompaction of ventricular myocardium(NVM)and assess the role of MRI in the diagnosis of NVM by comparing it with echocardiography. Methods Fourteen cases of NVM diagnosed by echocardiography were examined with MRI,including scanning of black-blood sequences, double inversion recovery fast spin echo (DIRFSE)and triple inversion recovery fast spin echo(TIRFSE),and white blood sequence:fast imaging employ steady state acquisition(FIESTA).Scanning plane includes short axis view,four-chamber view and long axis view. Results Both MRI and echocardiography displayed involvement of left ventricles in thirteen cases and involvement of double ventricles in one case.Apexes of heart and the intermedius are commonly affected.MRI showed 54 segments and echocardiography showed 53 segments affected, and there is no significant difference between the capability of MRI and echocardiography(P=1.000).The affected myocardium consisted of two layers:subendoeardial noncompacted myocardium and epicardial compacted myocardium, and the ratio measurement of N/C by MRI was 3.37?0.89 and it was 3.19?0.82 by echocardiography.Noncompacted myocardium was characterized by prominent and excessive myocardial trabeculations and deep intratrabecular recesses,in which the blood flow was communicated with the ventricle. One case was complicated with ventricular aneurysm, and coronary arteriography was performed with unremarkable findings. One case underwent heart transplantation because of progressive heart failure, Gross findings demonstrated prominent muscular trabeculations with deep intratrabecular recesses, which coincided well with MRI findings. Conclusion The MRI manifestation of NVM is characteristic, and MRI with multiple series and planes is helpful in the diagnose of NVM.Compared with echoeardiography,MRI could display the pathological cardiac muscle more clearly, because of its high soft-tissue resolution and spatial resolution.
