1.Maternal vitamin D level and its relevant factors in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy in a hospital in Nanjing

Objective To analyze the serum level of 25-hydroxy vitamin D [25-(OH) D] in pregnant women in Nanjing and its relationship with age,gestational week,pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and season,so as to provide some guidance on clinical application of vitamin D measurement and supplementation.Methods 880 pregnant women (in 21-36 gestational weeks) regularly visiting antenatal clinic in Obstetrics and Gynecology Hospital Affiliated to Nanjing Medical University were selected from January to December 2015.Their serum 25-(OH)D concentrations were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).Results The mean serum 25-(OH) D concentration in these pregnant women was (42.03 ± 19.22) nmol/L and sufficient in only 42 (4.77%).Vitamin D levels showed seasonal variation (P =0.0164),with the levels in summer [(44.61 ±23.57) nmol/L] and autumn [(43.43 ± 19.31) nmol/L] being higher than spring [(39.68 ± 16.91) nmol/L] and winter [(39.65 ± 13.36) nmol/L].There was no statistically significant difference in serum vitamin D level among different gestational weeks (P =0.929 4).There was statistically significant difference in serum vitamin D level among different age groups (P =0.038 3).Vitamin D level was not associated with pre-pregnancy BMI.Conclusions Vitamin D deficiency is highly prevalent among pregnant women in Nanjing.We suggest vitamin D testing be carried out more actively.

It presented in detail the acquisition of Qingdao Wan Jie Hospital by the Affiliated Hospital of Medical College Qingdao University, describing the operational mechanisms in organizational setup, specialty setup, personnel management, logistic management, hospital culture and branding of the newly acquired section. It also summarized the achievements in medical resources reorganization and advantages complementary without government investment in a fast and low-cost manner. It is demonstrated that hospital acquisitions are in line with the medical reform, as they expand the service coverage of public hospitals, and extend medical service to the communities and lower levels, thus enhancing hospitals' impact and reach to integrate medical resources in a short timeframe.
3.Experiment study of the role of allogeneic serum in the culture of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells in vitro

[Objective]To investigate if allogeneic human serum(alloHS)could replace fetal bovine serum(FBS)for the expansion of human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells(hBMSCs)in vitro.[Method]Human BM-MSCs were isolated either from spongy bone residues obtained during hip surgery or from washed filters used during bone marrow graft processing for allogeneic bone marrow transplantation.We culture human bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were cultivated using alloHS and FBS,then observe its growth character,antigen presentation and differentiation potency through condition medium directional induction were observed.[Result]Isolated MSCs were positive for the markers CD105,CD29 and CD44 and negative for typical hematopoietic and endothelial markers CD34,CD45,CD106 and HLA-DR.The choice of serum affected hMSCs at several different levels.Firstly,hMSCs in alloHS proliferated markedly faster than hMSCs in FBS.Secondly,hMSCs in FBS differentiated more rapidly toward mesenchymal lineages compared with hMSCs in alloHS.[Conclusion]hMSCs may be expanded rapidly in alloHS in the absence of growth factors,this may be a safely culture method suitable for clinical demand.
4.Application of the magnetic resonance angiography in elderly patients with arterial diseases of lower extremity

Objective To evaluate the magnetic resonance angiography(MRA) in senile lower extremity arterial disease and to compare the diagnostic value of two dimensional time of flight(2D TOF) with three dimensional contrast enhancement(3D CE) technique. Methods Seventy patients with a mean age of 75 years underwent MRA for suspected acute or chronic lower extremity arterial disease. MRA was performed with a 1 5 T MR scanner and Gd DTPA was used by manual injection in 3D CE MRA. Among 52 patients examined with 2D TOF MRA, 18 of them underwent an additional 3D CE MRA, 32 patients took Doppler ultrasound examination, and 4 patients received emergency operation. Results In all 70 patients, 52 showed atherosclerotic stenosis disease, 17 atherosclerotic occlusive disease (4 of them were verified by emergency operation) and one patient atherosclerosis with aneurysmal dilatation. A total of 997 vessel segments were shown on MRA images and 600 of them were abnormal including 486(81%) mild to moderate stenoses, 114(19%) severe stenoses and 451 curved arterial segments. In 32 patients who underwent Doppler ultrasound, the diagnosis and its grading based on MRA was well correlated with that from Doppler ultrasound (coincidence rate was 91% and 96% respectively). A total of 764 suprapopliteal and 125 infrapopliteal arteries were depicted by 2D TOF MRA (visibility was 99% and 40% respectively). In 18 patients who received additional 3D CE MRA, totally 306 arteries were depicted on MRA (visibility 100%). Doppler ultrasound showed 40 segments with arterial calcification and 32 atherosclerotic plaques. Conclusions MRA is quite useful in detecting lower extremity arterial disease because of its noninvasion and convenience. The results derived from MRA are well correlated with that of Doppler ultrasound and clinical outcome. 3D MRA is superior to 2D TOF MRA in image quality, accuracy and time efficiency and is best for emergency case. Pitfalls of MRA such as overestimation in the severity of the disease and the long scanning time of 2D TOF must be taken into consideration .

Protein degradation is fundamental to cell viability,selective elimination of regulatory proteins in the cell is an effective mechanism for regulating vital cell processes.Rapid proteasomal protein degradation is key to activation of repression of many cellular processes,including cell-cycle progression and apoptosis.Bortezomib as a proteasome inhibitor has been approved by FDA for multiple myeloma treatment.This review summarizes current knowledge of the structure and function of the proteasome and its targets.In addition,preclinical findings obtained with Bortezomib are reviewed,and existing clinical data on Bortezomib are presented.
7.Survey on passive smoking prevalence among residents aged 15 and older in Chongqing

Objective To investigate the passive smoking prevalence and its influencing factors among residents aged 15 and ol-der in Chongqing City ,and provide the evidence for the government to make tobacco control policy or improve the present tobacco control policy ,reduce the harm of secondhand smoke .Methods 753 non-smoker residents was investigated by using the multi-stage random sampling .Results The passive smoking rate of residents aged 15 and older in Chongqing city is 45 .95% ,among which ,the male′s is 43 .13% ,the female′s is 47 .45% ,there is no significant difference between gender distribution .There is a significant difference among different age groups(P<0 .05) ,the passive smoking rate of people aged 25 to 34 is the highest(55 .17% ) .There is a significant difference among different occupational groups (P<0 .05) ,the passive smoking rate of the people who engaged in commercial service is the highest(58 .01% ) .There is no significant difference among education level groups .About the non-smok-ers′attitudes to others smoking around ,the higher education level people have ,the more they will care about this ,the number of fe-male(87 .98% ) is significantly higher than male(70 .99% ) .Conclusion The harm of secondhand smoke to the residents aged 15 and older in Chongqing City is high ,so strengthening legislation and law enforcement is necessary to prevent the public exposure to secondhand smoke and reduce passive smoking level .
8. Effect of Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus powder on D-galactose-induced aging model mice

Objective: To investigate effect of Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus powder in D-galactose-induced aging model mice. Methods: Seventy-two Kunming mice were randomly divided into normal group, model group, Naokangling group (0.810 g/kg), and low-, mid-, and high-dose (3.00, 1.50, 0.75 g/kg) Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus powder groups. Aging mice model was established by sc injection of D-galactose 1.25 g/kg at neck back once daily for 40 d. Naokangling and Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus powder were orally administrated on day 11 for 30 d. Then the learning and memory ability was assessed by step-through test on day 39. Two hours after the last administration, the contents of malonaldehyde (MDA) in brain homogenate, liver homogenate, and plasma and the activity of superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione (GSH), and catalase (CAT) in whole blood were detected; The morphological changes of brain, liver, thymus, and spleen in each group of mice were observed by light microscope. Results: Compared with model groups, the Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus powder groups can improve the incubation period and reduce the number of times of light and dark shuttle of model mice; The Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus powder groups can reduce the level of MDA in plasma, brain, and liver homogenate, and increase the levels of CAT, SOD, and GSH in the whole blood in different degrees; It also can elevate the index of spleen, thymus, and brain, and decrease the indexes of liver in different degrees. Conclusion: Schisandrae Chinensis Fructus powder can significantly improve the biochemical indexes and pathological status of aging model mice.
9.Modified intraperitoneal onlay mesh laparoscopic herniorrhaphy for adult indirect inguinal hernia

Objective To summarize the experience of laparoscopic purse-string transfixion of the internal ring combined with intraperitoneal onlay mesh(IPOM) laparoscopic herniorrhaphy in the treatment of adult indirect inguinal hernia.Methods The modified IPOM laparoscopic herniorrhaphy(laparoscopic purse-string transfixion of the internal ring combined with IPOM laparoscopic herniorrhaphy) was performed in 15 adult patients with indirect inguinal hernia in this hospital from September 2004 to February 2005.Results The time of operation was 30~60 min(mean,35 min). The patients were discharged from hospital 2~3 days after operation.Two patients complained of tractive discomfort after operation and were cured with postoperative physical therapy for 2 weeks.Follow-up observations in 15 patients for 2~6 months(mean,4.8 months) revealed no recurrence.Conclusions The modified IPOM laparoscopic herniorrhaphy is a safe and feasible option for adult indirect inguinal hernia,with advantages of simplicity of performance, few complications,mild postoperative pain,quick recovery,low recurrence,and good cosmetic results.
10.Neuroprotection of adenoassociated vira-mediated brain-derived neurotrophic factor on retinal ganglion cells in DBA/2J mice with glaucoma

Background Deficiency of neurotrophic factor is associated with the damage of optic nerve in glaucoma.Reaserches showed that ectopically applied neurotrophic factor has a transient neuroprotective effect in glaucoma model,and the viral expression of adeno-associated neurotrophie factor may provide long-term supplementation of neurotrophic factor and neuroprotection in tissues.Objective The present study Was to investigate the neuroproteetive effect of adeno-associated viral(AAV)-mediated brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF)on retinal ganglion cells(RGCs)in DBA/2J mice with experimental glaucoma. Methods 10 clean DBA/2J mice were administered intravitreal injection with 1 microliter of AAV-BDNF-GFP in the left eyes at the age of 6 months,and the right eyes were injected with the same volume of saline solution as control.Intraocular pressure (IOP)was measured with Tonolab in the mice every month.Retinas were obtained after 3 months for the investigation of GFP expression in RGCs using fluorescence microscopy.Immunohistochemistry Was performed by applying TUJ1 and Cy3 antibodies to identify surviving RGCs. Results The IOP of DBA/2J mice were 11.90 mmHg and 11.40 mmHg in the right eyes and left eyes,respectively,at 4 months.The IOP of DBA/2J mice began to rise at 5 months and reached its peak in 8 month-old mice.There was no statistically significant difference in IOPs between the right eyes and the left eyes from 4 month-through 9 month-old mice(t=-1.78-0.61,P=0.11-0.90).Three months after intrlavitreal injection of AAV-BDNF-GFP,GFP was positively expressed in RGCs of retinas with the expression rate of 46.33%±8.08%.The over-expression of BDNF led to more RGCs survival than the control eyes (3168.13±1319.33/mm2 vs 2024.81±796.38/mm2,t=2.75,P=0.02). Conclusion These data suggest that BDNF can exert a protective effect in DBA/2J glaucoma mice.
