Diabetic retinopathy is one of the most common and serious microvascular complications of diabetes, and it is a very complex pathological process, displaying multi-factor, multi-stage characteristic in the outcome. Recent studies have shown that the pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy is closely related to oxidative stress, and antioxidant therapy can effectively improve the condition. Heme oxygenase-1(HO-1)is a widely existing antioxidant defense enzyme, which can reduce the injury caused by oxidative stress and plays an important physiological role. Studies have indicated that in retina HO-1 can be highly induced by hyperglycemia. Moreover, the expression level of HO-1 by man-made changes can accelerate or postpone the diseases progression. That means HO-1 for the diagnosis and treatment of diabetic retinopathy has satisfactory applied foreground. In this article we would like to review the role of HO-1 in diabetic retinopathy.
2. Hepatoprotective effects of Lysimachia christinae Hanceextracts on acute liver injury induced by tripterygium glycosides in mice
Chinese Pharmaceutical Journal 2013;48(1):30-34
OBJECTIVE: To investigate the hepatoprotective effects of Lysimachia christinae Hance against acute liver injury induced by tripterygium glycosides (TG) in vivo and the related mechanism for the first time. METHODS: The mice were administered ethanol extract of L. christinae (JE), water extract of L. christinae (JW), and bifendate by ig for seven consecutive days. 12 h after the last dose, the mice were orally given TG 270 mg · kg-1 except those in the normal group. Serum and liver tissue samples were collected at 18 h after TG treatment. Besides, the amounts of quercetin and kaempferol in JE and JW were analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). RESULTS: TG-induced elevated serum alanine transferase(ALT) and aspartate transaminase (AST) activities were significantly reduced by JE(100, 200 mg · kg-1) in dose-dependent manners, but not by JW. Further analysis demonstrated that lipid peroxidation(LPO) level significantly decreased, while superoxide dismutase(SOD) and catalase(CAT) activities increased in livers of JE-treated mice. Besides, the amounts of quercetin and kaempferol were 9.8 and 8.9 mg · g-1 in JE, and 2.8 and 1.9 mg · g-1 in JW, respectively. CONCLUSION: This study for the first time demonstrates that L. christinae can protect against TG-induced acute liver injury in dose-dependent manners in vivo, the potential mechanism may be related to inhibiting liver oxidative stress injury, and the hepatoprotective activity may be correlated with the contents of quercetin and kaempferol. Objective: To develop a new quantitative determination method for the biological activity of recombinant human ciliary neurotrophic factor. Methods: Dorsal root ganglions were derived from the chick embryo and dispersed into single neuron cell,The rhCNTF was added to neuron cells and incubated for 64 hours,The activity of acid phosphatase in neuron cells was determined and the biological activity of rhCNTF was analyzed quantificationally. Result: rhCNTF could promote original era dorsal root neuron cells of chick embryo surviving, the livability of neuron cells was positively related to the amount of rhCNTF added to the culture. Conclusion: A quantitative determination method for the biological activity of rhCNTF was developed by testing the activity of acid phosphatase in neuron cells. Compared with the typical ways, this method was quantificational easily, repeatable better and with much fewer disturbance factors.
7.Research advances of precision treatment for pancreatic cancer
Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery 2021;20(4):385-394
Pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related death in the world due to its high malignancy, difficult in early diagnosis, poor treatment efficacy, and high mortality. In recent years, benefiting from the progress of combined chemotherapy and neoadjuvant therapy, the prognosis of patients with pancreatic cancer has been improved to a certain extent. However, compared with other tumors, progress of precision medicine in pancreatic cancer is slow. The authors introduce the latest progress and difficulties in precision medicine of pancreatic cancer including molecular classification based on single gene and omics, monitoring tumor progression and guide treatment by minimally invasive liquid biopsy, as well as targeting therapy and immuno-therapy, in order to accelerate the development of precision medicine of pancreatic cancer.

Chinese Journal of Orthopaedics 2016;(3):162-167
Objective To investigate the effects of fracture displacement and operation method on perioperative blood loss of femoral neck fractures. Methods From December 2013 to October 2014, 130 cases (58 males and 72 females, aged from 18 to 91 years, with an average age of 71.1±12.9 years) with femoral neck fractures were retrospectively analyzed for the periopera?tive blood loss. The degree of displacement was described according to Garden's grades. According to the degree of fracture dis?placement, the patients were divided into two groups:GardenⅠ-Ⅱgroup and Garden Ⅲ-Ⅳgroup, and patients' preoperative hidden blood loss was compared between two groups. According to the degree of fracture displacement and the method of opera?tion, the patients were divided into four groups:Group 1 indicates the group in which patients received cannulated screws fixation for Garden gradeⅠ-Ⅱ;Group 2 in which patients received hemiarthroplasty for Garden gradeⅠ-Ⅱ;Group 3 in which patients received cannulated screws fixation for Garden grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ; Group 4 in which patients received hemiarthroplasty for Garden grade Ⅲ-Ⅳ; and variation in the following four parameters was analyzed: the dominant blood loss, postoperative hidden blood loss, total hidden blood loss, total blood loss in the four different groups. Results For the Garden gradeⅢ-Ⅳfemoral neck frac?ture group, the preoperative hidden blood loss was significantly higher than that of the Garden gradeⅠ-Ⅱfemoral neck fracture group (t=2.267, P=0.001). The dominant blood loss volume, postoperative hidden blood loss volume, total hidden blood loss vol?ume and total blood loss volume of hemiarthroplasty groups (402.1 ± 36.8 ml, 641.3 ± 53.2 ml, 880.7 ± 61.7 ml, 1 246.1 ± 76.7 ml) were higher than those of the cannulated screws fixation group (45.8±34.9 ml, 301.9±50.6 ml, 436.6±58.6 ml, 478.5±72.9 ml). Conclusion The perioperative hidden blood loss is mainly related with the degree of fracture displacement, the greater the de?gree of fracture displacement, the more the preoperative hidden blood loss. While the dominant blood loss volume, postoperative hidden blood loss volume, total hidden blood loss volume and total blood loss volume are mainly related to the method of operation, the blood loss in which patients received hemiarthroplasty should be increased significantly.
