Objective To study preliminary the accuracy of clinical target volume (CTV) and internal target volume (ITV) automatically generated by an in-house deformable registration software on fourdimensional CT (4DCT),and evaluate its feasibility of clinical application.Methods Clinic treated one lung cancer patient and one liver cancer patient were selected for the study.CTV was delineated by radiation oncologist according to a single respiratory phase image of 4DCT scanning,and then deformed to the other phases and generated the CTVdefm on each phase image.Differences between the CTVdefm and CTVmanu were then compared.A composite ITVcopm was created by overlapping all the CTVdefm of 10 phases and compared with the ITVMIP which was contoured on the maximum intensity projection (MIP) CT images,including the shape,volume and geometric center position of the ITV contour.Results For the tested lung case,average volume difference between the CTVdefm and CTV was (-2.59 ± 5.02)％ for the all 10 phases,and the vector departure of the two ITV centers was (1.04 ± 0.89) mm.The ITVcomp almost completely matched the ITVMIP on the tested liver case with a volume difference smaller the 1％ and only 1.4 mm vector departure between their geometric centers.Conclusion The validity of the CTVdefm and ITVcomp gained from automatic deformation of manual delineation reference based on 4DCT images were preliminary evaluated and proved to be good enough for clinic planning.

Butyric acid can be used to produce cellulose butyrate fiber and ester derivatives,and to be applied in foodstuffs and perfume industries.Recent researches have found that butyric acid is a preferred carbon source for colonic epithelial cells,and can inhibit histone deacetylase,showing great anticancer potentials.With more and more functions of butyric acid being found and applied in bio-related fields,and with consumer's growing preference to bioproducts,biotechnological production of butyric acid will receive more competence than petroleum-based chemical synthesis.Low product concentration and poor selectivity are presently the main restricting factors.Workers have made considerable progress on more cheep carbon sources,optimization of fermentation process,simplifying downstream processing,and genetic engineering of producing strains.Any achievement on these aspects in the future can contribute to put fermentation of butyric acid into industry.

Objective To examine the changes in the expression of voltage-gated sodium channel?subunit mRNA in the dorsal root ganglion(DRG)and the role it plays in the neuropathie pain.Methods Thirty- two male SD rats weighing 250-400g were randomly divided into 2 groups:groupⅠneuropathic pain(SNL,n= 20)and groupⅡsham operation(n=12).Neuropathic pain was produced by ligation of right sciatic nerve according to Seltzer.Paw withdrawal latency to noxious thermal(PWHL)and mechanical(PWML)stimulation were measured before(baseline)and 1,2,3,5,8,11,14,28 day after sciatic nerve ligation(SNL).DRG at L_(4,5) was isolated on the 14th day after SNL in 8 SNL and 4 sham-operated animals for determination of sodium channel?subunit mRNA expression(by in-situ hybridization).Results PWHL and PWML were significantly decreased on the 2nd-28th day after SNL as compared to the baseline in SNL group.There was no significant difference in?_1 subunit mRNA expression between the 2 groups.The?_2 subunit mRNA expression in DRG was hardly detectable.The?_3 subunit mRNA expression in DRG on the operated side was significantly higher in SNL group than in sham-operation group.Conclusion The up-regulation of sodium channel?_3 subunit mRNA expression in DRG may play an important role in neuropathic pain.

Objective To preliminarily screen the neoplastic stem cell (NSC) related surface markers combination and to under-stand the NSC distribution in hepatoblastoma(HB) .Methods The children cases of HB undergone the surgical therapy in the Jian-gxi Provincial Children′s Hospital were selected .The immunohistochemical method was adopted for observing the expression and distribution of NSC-related markers CD34 ,Thy-1 ,c-kit ,CD56 and stem cell factor(SCF) in the HB tissue and the normal hepatic tissue away from the edge of tumor tissue 3cm outside .Results Thy-1 and c-kit were sporadically distributed in the HB tissue and mainly focued on the portal area ,but did not exressed in the normal liver tissue ;the expression of CD34 and SCF in HB was signifi-cantly higher than that in the normal liver tissue(P<0 .05) ,in which CD34 was mainly distributed in the endothelial system and SCF was mainly expressed in the portal area ;CD56 was expressed in the tissue of the clustered nerve fibers ,the expression differ-ence between them had no statistical significance (P>0 .05) .Conclusion The different NSC related surface markers are distributed in the HB tissue and focus on the specific areas .The positive cells of Thy-1/c-kit expression may play a role in the HB occurrence .

The production technology for the first generation of biofuels has been made great achievements and some countries, such as USA, EU countries, and Brazil, have formed successful biofuel industrial chains. Cellulose ethanol, a representative of the second generation of biofuels and a kind of more promising alternative fuels, has not yet got enough key technological breakthroughs and its large scale commercial production still needs rather some time to realize. Now it is in the early stage of transition to the second generation of biofuels. Taking the development of second generation of biofuels as their national policies, many countries have developed long-term development plans and objectives, and provided a good policy environment and strong support for it. Thus institutes and enterprises are engaging and successing in addressing key issues relating to the development of biofuels. At the mean time, some important issues relating to the sustainable development of biofuels have attracted people's attention.

Biomass resources are strategically vital for the sustainable development of a country.The United States has recently made a variety of plans or roadmaps and taken significant actions in order to promote the R&D of biomass resources.These plans and actions for the key issues in the development of biomass resources were analysed.

Objective To investigate the levels of serum soluble CDI4(sCD14)in patients early after renal transplantation and the relationship between sCD14 and allograft rejection.Methods This se- ries included 51 consecutive patients undergoing renal transplantation.We prospectively determined levels of serum sCD14 at 1 h before transplantation(d 0)and the first 10 d after transplantation(d 1-10).The ser- um creatinine(Cr)levels were recorded at the same time.The patients were divided into 2 groups(rejection and non-rejection groups)according to whether they experienced acute rejection or not during the first 14 d after transplantation.The levels of serum sCD14 and Cr between the 2 groups were compared.Results Of 51 cases,13 experienced acute rejection,and the mean time from postoperation to rejection start was 7 d;38 cases had no rejection.On d 0,the Cr levels of rejection group[(789?221)?mol/L]and non-rejection group[(742?234)?mol/L]had no significant difference(P＞0.05).The Cr level was higher in rejection group than in non-rejection group on d 1-10.In the 2 groups,the Cr levels of d 3 and d 5 to d 10 were (237?104)vs(160?70),(176?85)vs(117?46),(174?81)vs(112?40),(173?81)vs(112?39),(209?53)vs(112?38),(203?73)vs(103?35),(181?50)vs(102?31)?mol/L,respective- ly,with significant difference between them(P＜0.05).The serum sCD14 levels on d 0 in rejection group [(9.55?5.71)mg/L]and non-rejection group[(8.99?3.89)mg/L]had no significant difference.The sCD14 levels were higher in rejection group than in non-rejection group on d 1-5[(15.52?6.60)vs (9.85?4.11),(15.48?5.85)vs(7.53?3.79),(12.15?4.45)vs(5.88?3.95),(10.84?4.11) vs(4.88?3.17),(7.61?5.37)vs(4.66?1.91)mg/L,respectively]with significant difference(P＜0.05).The sCD14 levels in the 2 groups on d 1 were elevated compared with those on d 0,then decreased gradually.Conclusions It is suggest that the increase in serum sCD14 levels occurs earlier than clinically acute rejection.The serum sCD14 levels on d 1-5 after transplantation can serve as important predictors for acute renal graft rejection.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation combined with duloxetine in treatment of depression. Methods Sixty-nine cases of depression were randomly divided in?to study group (n=35 patients) and control group (n=34 patients). The study group received duloxetine combined with 1Hz rTMS treatment on the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex area for 6 weeks whereas the control group received duloxetine combined with pseudo-rTMS treatment for 6 weeks. The Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD-24) and Treatment Emergent Symptom Scale (TESS) were used to assess the clinical efficacy and the adverse reactions before, 2, 4 and 6 weeks after the treatment, respectively. Results Four patients (two from each group) dropped out of the study. The main effects of time (P<0.001) and groups (P=0.029) were significant and so was the interactive effect of time and group (P<0.001). The clinical curative effect of the study group were significantly better compared with the control group at the 2, 4, 6 weeks following treatment (P<0.001). The adverse reactions were mild in these two groups. Conclusions The combi?nation of 1 Hz rTMS with duloxetine is superior to either medication alone for the treatment depression.

Objective To determine whether hybrid three dimensional diffusion tensor imaging (3D DTI) contributes incremental value to standard T2WI technique for assessing neurovascular bundles (NVB) around the prostate. Methods This retrospective institutional review board-approved study included 69 consecutive patients with prostate tumor who underwent MRI including conventional T2WI and 3D DTI . DTI data were postprocessed and hybrid 3D DTI and axial T2W images were obtained. Three radiologists with one, five and thirteen years of experience in reading prostate MRI and one urologist with three years of surgical experience in urology who were blinded to patient data independently recorded their levels of preference on a five-point scale of the NVBs around the prostate on the basis of T2WI alone and hybrid 3D DTI and T2WI, respectively. The differences of scores of T2WI and hybrid 3D DTI and T2WI of the four doctors were compared by using nonparametric Wilcoxon rank. Results The average scores of hybrid 3D DTI to T2WI and alone T2WI to assess NVBs for 3 radiologists and one urologist were 4.4±0.6, 4.3±0.8, 4.2± 0.6, 4.9±0.3 and 2.9±0.8, 3.0±1.1, 1.6±0.7, 3.8±0.5, respectively. The hybird 3D DTI to T2WI improved the discrimination abilities of NVBs around the prostate for 3 radiologists and one urologist (Z values were-12.791,-9.737,-14.538,-14.901, P<0.01 respectively).The added value of hybrid DTI to T2WI for urologist is the highest, and experienced radiologist is the smallest. Conclusion The hybrid 3D DTI
contributes significant incremental value to the standard T2WI technique for assessing NVB around the prostate.
