Objective To investigate the influence of acupuncture on Nestin expression in the cerebral cor- tex of hypoxia-ischemic neonatal rats. Methods A total of 72 Sprague-Dawley(SD)rats aged 7 days were random- ly divided into three groups:A normal group(n=24),the hypoxic-ischemic encepbalopathy(HIE)group(n=24), and an acupuncture+HIE group(n=24).The rats were sacrificed at time points including 3d,7d,14d and 28d af- ter insult, their brains were removed and sections were made.Any nerve stem cells(NSCs)in the cerebral cortex were detected using immunohistochemical staining of Nestin. Results Nestin-positive cells were found in the cere- bral cortex in the normal neonatal SD rats early after birth. After HI insult, the Nestin-positive cells had increased in the injured areas of the cortex and in contralateral mirror areas, especially around the injured areas.Peak Nestin ex- pression was 3 days after insult. In the acupuncture+HIE group,Nestin positive cells were significantly increased when compared with that in the HIE group, the peak was postponed, and the peak was longer than in the HIE group. The Nestin positive cells decreased, were seldom seen, and were not different among three groups 28 days after the HI insult. Conclusions Endogenous neural stem cells in the cerebral cortex were increased by acupuncture in hy- poxia-ischemic in neonatal rats, and acupuncture made the peak of Nestin expression longer.

Journal of Experimental Hematology 2013;21(3):810-814
MicroRNA (miRNA) are small non-coding RNA that act at the post-transcriptional level, regulating protein expression by repressing translation mRNA target. They can be detected in plants, animal species and viruses, and are involved in numerous cellular processes. MicroRNA-155 (miR-155) which is a kind of microRNAs expressed in hematopoietic cells. Recent data indicate that MiR-155 plays a key role in the pathogenesis of hematological malignancies through regulating cell signal transduction pathways of cell proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis, acting predominantly as an oncomir. MiR-155 may be an important indicator to assess the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of patients with hematological malignancies, including malignant lymphoma, acute myeloid leukemia, and myelodysplastic syndrome. It could be suggested that drugs such as antisense oligonucleotides able to down-regulate miR-155 expression would provide a novel, and possibly specific way to control the growth of a range of haematopoietic malignancies in conjunction with classical cytotoxic therapy. The purpose of this review is to summarize current findings on the role of miR-155 in hematopoietic malignancies and, moreover, to highlight their role as potential therapeutic tools.

To know the characteristics of Shuxuening injection used on cerebral infarction patients in clinical practice, 6 053 cases of Hospital information system (HIS) data from 20 hospitals were analyzed. Using the basic description method and association rules to analysis the data. By analysis the data we found that the average age of cerebral infarction patients who used Shuxuening injection is 67.96, 83.94% of patients were aged 46-80. The injection is administered intravenously, with most patients receiving a dosage of 15-20 mL per dose for between 1 and 14 days. It is always combined with aspirin (48.508%), cinepazide maleate injection (22.073%), atorvastatin calcium tablets (18.873%) in clinical practice. When it comes to two drug combinations, it always combined with cinepazide maleate injection and aspirin (8.178%), nicergoline capsules and aspirin (7.63%). Therefore, based on existing data, we give the conclusion that for the treatment of cerebral infarction Shuxuening injection is mainly used for older patients, and is often combination with similar pharmacological effects chemical drugs, which is complied with the guidelines. However, the wrong dose is still exist, doctors should realize the hiding risk.

Chinese Journal of Endemiology 2010;29(6):604-607
Objective To identify the differential serum proteins in patients with hepatic injury resulting from coal-burning type of arsenism. Methods Six serum samples were collected from patients with liver injury resulting from coal-burning type of arsenism and healthy subjects(control gruop) in endemic arsenism area. Twodimensional gel electrophoresis(2-DE) was performed to separate serum proteins, after silver staining, the differential expression of proteins were analyzed and then identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry(MALDI-TOF-MS). Results The 2-DE map of serum protein patterns of patients and normal control were established successfully. The results showed that there were an average of (824 ± 31 ) spots and (782 ± 42) spots on 2-DE matching of the patients and control groups and the matching rate was 94.9%(782/824). From these two groups 49 differential protein spots were identified, of which over 3 times the difference in the expression of 30 protein spots were singled out and MALDI-TOF-MS analysis was carried out. Ten proteins were identified. Upregulated expression was observed in alpha-2-macroglobulin, B-cell receptor-associated protein, keratin 1,apolipoprotein A-I, and down-regulated expression was observed in haptoglobin, α2-heremans-schimid-glycoprotein,mitogen-activated protein kinase 4, zinc finger protein 323, ZAP-70 and SP40 in the patient group. Conclusions The well-resolved and reproducible 2-DE serum patterns of patients are established and some differentially expressed proteins are characterized. Whether these proteins of differential expression are serum markers for liver injury resulting from coal-burning type of arsenism need to be further verified.
