SUMMARY To explore the clinical pathological characteristics and improve the recognition in the diag-nosis and treatment of basal cell carcinoma (BCC)of prostate.Three cases of BCC of prostate were re-ported and the relevant literature was reviewed to investigate the diagnosis and treatment of this disease. We analyzed three cases of prostatic BCC.Their ages were within a range of 57 to 83 years.One of them complained of hematuria and two complained of dysuria.All of them presented with prostatic hyperplasia. Two of them presented with high prostate specific antigen (PSA)and one with normal PSA.Case 1 had prostate cancer invasion of bladder,rectal fascia,with lymph node metastasis,bone metastasis and lung metastases.The patient received bladder resection +bilateral ureteral cutaneous ureterostomy +lymph node dissection on November 2,2014 .Postoperative pathological diagnosis showed BCC.Reexamination of pelvic enhanced MRI in January 8,2015 suggested pelvic recurrence.Abdominal enhanced CT showed multiple liver metastases and pancreatic metastasis on July 11,2015.Prostate cancer specific death occurred in October 2015.Case 2 was diagnosed as BCC in prostate biopsy on March 27,2015. Positron emission tomography and computed tomography (PET-CT)showed pulmonary metastasis and bone metastasis.Then the patient received chemotherapy,endocrine therapy and local radiation therapy. Reexamination of PET-CT on January 11,2016 showed that the lung metastase tumors and bone metas-tase tumors were larger than before.Up to January 10,2016,the patient was still alive.Postoperative pathological changes of transurethral resection of prostate (TURP)in case 3 showed BCC might be con-sidered.The PET-CT suggested residual prostate cancer,which might be associated with bilateral pelvic lymph node metastasis.In April 20,2016,the review of PET-CT showed pelvic huge irregular hybrid density shadow,about 14.5 cm ×10.0 cm ×12.9 cm in size,and tumor recurrence was considered. Then the patient received local radiation therapy.The patient survived in the followed upon January 10, 2016.BCC of prostate is a rare subtype.Due to the local infiltrative and distant metastatic potentiality, active management is preferred and a life-long follow-up is necessary.

Objective To investigate the effects of cognitive interventions (CIs) in the context of communi- ty based rehabilitation (CBR) on cognitive deficits (CDs) in stroke patients.Methods Ninety-two stoke patients with CDs were randomly divided into a CI group and a control group.All patients were treated with conventional CBR.In addition,the patients in the CI group were also treated with special intervention therapy.The patients in both groups were assessed with the neurological and cognitive status examination (NCSE) for cognitive functioning, the FCA for motor function and the BI for their ability in the activities of daily living.Results The NCSE,FCA and BI scores in the cognitive intervention group after treatment were significantly higher than those before treatment and also significantly higher than those in the control group after treatment.Conclusion CIs can not only improve CDs,but also enhance recovery of motor function and ADL.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the change of carotid intima-media thickness (IMTc) and serum matrix metalloproteinases-9 (MMP-9) levels in newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic patients, and to analyze the relationship between MMP-9 and IMTc; at the same time, to assess the effect of rosiglitazone on IMTc and MMP-9 levels. METHODS: Fifty-eight patients with Type 2 diabetes mellitus were selected in our study, and 25 healthy adults served as normal controls. Diabetic patients were divided into 2 groups: Group A (31 subjects) were treated with rosiglitazone (4 mg/d), and Group B (27 subjects) were treated with metformin alone (500 approximately 1,500 mg/d). They all received the treatment for 3 months. The IMTc was measured by high resolution ultrasonography, and the serum MMP-9 was determined by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) to assess the relationship between IMTc and MMP-9. RESULTS: The mean level of serum IMTc and MMP-9 in Type 2 diabetic patients was significantly higher than that in healthy adults (P < 0.05). After treatment with rosiglitazone and metformin, IMTc and serum MMP-9 levels decreased significantly (P < 0.05). There was no obvious change in IMTc and serum MMP-9 levels in group B before and after the treatment (P = 0. 071, P = 0.065). Using multiple linear stepwise regression analysis, the significant correlation between IMTc and HbA1C, BMI, WHR, HDL-C, MMP-9 were discovered. CONCLUSION IMTc and MMP-9 levels increase in newly diagnosed Type 2 diabetic patients, suggesting that there is closely relationship between serume MMP-9 levels and early diabetic macrovascular disease. IMTc and MMP-9 can be reduced significantly in the newly diagnosed diabetic patients after being treated with rosiglitazone, which may be one of the protective mechanisms of vascular vessels.

The main purpose of this paper is to explore the applicability of multivariate multilevel models for bioequivalence evaluation. Using an example of a 4×4 cross-over test design in evaluating bioequivalence of homemade and imported rosiglitazone maleate tablets,this paper illustrated the multivariate-model-based method for partitioning total variances of In (AUC) and In (C_(max)) in the framework of multilevel models. It examined the feasibility of multivariate multilevel models in directly evaluating average bioequivalence (ABE),population bioequivalence (PBE) and individual bioequivalenc (IBE). Taking into account the correlation between In (AUC) and In (C_(max)) of rosiglitazone maleate tablets,the proposed models suggested no statistical difference between the two effect measures in their ABE bioequivalence via joint tests,whilst a contradictive conclusion was derived based on univariate multilevel models. Furthermore,the PBE and IBE for both In (AUG) and In(C_(max)) of the two types of tablets were assessed with no statistical difference based on estimates of variance components from the proposed models. Multivariate multilevel models could be used to analyze bioequivalence of multiple effect measures simultaneously and they provided a new way of statistical analysis to evaluate bioequivalence.

OBJECTIVETo understand the changing trend of occupational hazard of industries in Shunde area and to provide the scientific evidence for the prevention of occupational diseases.

METHODSThe pre-evaluation of occupational hazard was carried out for the construction projects. The data about employee number scale, industry species, occupational hazard factors, hazard levels and prevention measures for construction projects were collected and analyzed. The data of Shunde Occupational Health Survey in 2011 served as the control data.

RESULTSThere were 258 construction projects in 2010 and 2011, in which the proportions of medium and large scales increased to 8.1% and 2.4% respectively, the proportions of the furniture and chemical industries decreased from 25.6% or/and 5.1% to 2.7% or/and 1.8%, the proportions of the high-tech industries increased from 1.8% to 9.2%. The proportions of the projects with serious, medium and slight occupational hazard levels were 4.3%, 67.8% and 27.9%, respectively. The proportions of the projects with harmful chemicals, dusts and physical factors were 34.2%, 46.8%, 42.6%, respectively.

CONCLUSIONThe feature of occupational hazard in Shunde industries has changed at upgrading stage. We should pay attention to the prevention of occupational diseases in high-tech industries.

This study explores the application of three-dimensional(3D) printing technology combined with PACS in the standardized training of residents in urology.For the residents who received phase Ⅱ standardized training,they were guided to observe and analyze CT images,3D CT reconstruction data,and 3D printing entity during teaching;with reference to the cases of kidney tumors,the 3D printing entity model was explained to help the trainees learn the characteristics of the disease and formulate the operation plan of partial nephrectomy;an explanation of the actual surgical procedure gave them a deeper understanding of the anatomical characteristics and treatment regimens of the disease.The preliminary results of practice show that the application of 3D printing technology combined with PACS can enable residents to grasp the anatomical characteristics of renal tumors within a short time and deepen their understanding of surgical procedures and techniques.This teaching method holds promise for application in clinical specialties.

19 cinnamamide/ester-triazole compounds were designed, synthesized and evaluated for their anti-Alzheimer's disease (AD) activity. Among them, compound 4f displayed excellent anti-β-amyloid protein (Aβ)-mediated cytotoxicity (EC₅₀ = 2.03 ± 2.45 μmol·L^-1) in APPswe cells and acetylcholinesterase inhibiton (IC₅₀ = 4.88 ± 4.70 μmol·L^-1). Further study indicated that, at dosages of (1, 5 and 25 mg·kg^-1), compound 4f was effective in improving spatial learning and memory deficits in Aβ_1-42-impaired mice, which was achieved by promoting the nonamyloidogenic signaling and inhibiting the amyloidogenic pathway, along with the suppression of Aβ-induced Tau phosphorylation. All animal experiments in this study were approved by the Experimental Animal Care and Use Committee of the Institute of Medicinal Biotechnology (IMB-20220908D701). In conclusion, compound 4f holds promise as a lead candidate for AD treatment, and the present study lays the foundation for its subsequent development.

OBJECTIVE: To establish an inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) method for determination of Cr, Cd, As, Tl and Pb in blood. METHODS: The samples were digested by microwave digestion instrument. ICP-MS was applied to determine Cr, Cd, As, Tl and Pb in blood by using 115In as an internal standard. RESULTS: The limits of detection were in the range of 0.00001-0.00249 microg/L. The accuracy of the method ranged from 90.1% to 110.7% and the precision ranged from 4.0% to 7.9%. CONCLUSION The method is accurate and rapid with superior sensitivity and linear range. It could be used in the poisoning cases caused by Cr, Cd, As, Tl and Pb.
