The heterotopic and tissues may be divided into two categories: those that are found in the head and neck region, and those that arise elsewhere. The latter type is rare and most cases are found in the lungs of patients with neural tube defect, particularly anencephaly. Our report descrives anencephalic male infant with heterotopic glial nodules in both lungs. The largest nodule is 2x1.5x1 cm, locates in the lower lobe of the left lung, and has a round gray-white cut surface with cystic spaces. Microscopically, the nodules consist of irregularly arranged astrocytes and glial fibers, in which are embedded gland-like or cystically dilated bronchioles. The astrocytes and glial fibers are strongly positive for glial fibrillary acidic protein and show astrocytic filaments on electron microscopy. This will be an additional case supporting the amniotic fluid aspiration/implantation theory of pathogenetic mechanism of distal heerotopic glial tissue.

Following results were obtained from the light microscopic and stereomicroscopic observations of the breasts of rats treated with 9, 10-Dimethyl-1,2-Benzanthracene(DMBA). 1) Adenocarcinomas developed in 17 rats (24%) among 70 DMBA-treated rats. 2) Terminal and buds (TEB) were observed longer in DMBA-treated rats than in control group, but they finally disppeared 4 monthes after treatment. 3) Many hyperplastic alveolar nodules (HAN) developed in DMBA-treated rats. 4) There were no transitional lesions between TEB and adenocarcinoma or HAN and adenocarcinoma. 5) The number of lobules was decreased in DMBA-treated rats. On the other hand, terminal ducts were increased in number. These findings suggest that DMBA stimulate the regression of lobules and induce to form terminal ducts from which adenocarcinomas and HAN develop independently.

A 9-year-old Korean boy with lissencephaly was found dead at home. He had previously been diagnosed with lissencephaly that presented with infantile spasm on the basis of magnetic resonance imaging and electroencephalogram results. Antemortem chromosomal banding revealed a normal karyotype. A legal autopsy was requested to eliminate the possibility of neglect or abuse by his parents. The autopsy findings revealed type I lissencephaly with the associated microcephaly. No external wounds or decubitus ulcers were noted. Postmortem fluorescence in situ hybridization for the LIS1 locus and nucleotide sequence analysis of the whole coding regions of the LIS1 gene did not reveal any deletions. The antemortem and postmortem findings revealed that lissencephaly syndrome was associated with isolated lissencephaly sequence. External causes of death were excluded by the full autopsy and toxicology test results. Because patients with mental retardation are frequently victimized and suffer neglect or abuse, thorough external and internal examinations should be conducted at the time of autopsy.

Journal of the Korean Neurological Association 1992;10(3):308-315
The central dopaminergic receptor is believed to suppress the cardiovascular system So it may be involved in the blood pressure regulation But, it's action is still controversial. Furthermore, the mechanisms involved in the central dopaminergic receptor-induced blood pressure regulation is unclear. So, present study was performed in order to clarify the effects of central dopaminergic receptor and to investigate the mechamisms involved in it. Lisuride a D2-receptor agonist, and clonidine, a alpha2-receptor agonist, were administered into lateral ventricle in rat and the changes of blood pressure were compared The results were as follows; 1. Intracerebroventricular administration of lisuride amd clonidine from 0.3 ug to 10 ug elicited dose related decrease of blood pressure and heart rate. The potencies were similar in both drugs. 2. Centrally administered sulpiride, a D2-antagonist, blocked only the lisuride-induced hypotension while the clonidine induced hypotension was blocked only by centrally adrninistered tolazoline, a alpha2-antagonist. Intravenous administration of both antagonists elicited no or minimal attenuabon of agonists effects. 3. After desipramine pretreatment, which increases the norepinephrine concentration lisuride elicited somewhat further decrease of blood pressure than normal, while clonidine administration caused rather increase in blood pressure. 4. After chemical sympathectomy by 6-hydroxydopamine, lisuride administration still elicited strong suppression of blood pressure. From thses above results, it is concluded that central dopaminergic receptor activation decrease the blood pressure. Suppression of the norepinephrine release at the sympathetic nerve terminal is not related with central dopaminergic receptor induced hypotension.

We studied the intradural variations of spinal nerve rootlets in 100 cases of Korean adults. The results of the study are as follows ; 1. The incidence of intrasegmental variations (abberrant rootlets) is high in cervical segments and decreased toward lumbosacral segments. The incidence is higher in posterior rootlets than anterior, except cervical sesments. 2. The incidence of intersegmental variations is higher in posterior rootlets than anterior, and generally high in cervical and lumbar segments. 3. We divide the intersegmental variations into supernumerary rootlets, dividing rootlets, and anastomosing rootlets, and among them the incidence of anastomosing rootlets is higher. We divide the anastomosing rootlets into parallel anastomosing rootlets, uniting anastomosing rootlets, and rearrangement anastomosing rootlets. 4. The anterior to posterior anastomosing of spinal nerve rootlet is present in 4 of cases studied.
