Objective To test the validity of the Stroke Impairment Assessment Set (SIAS) among the subjects with acute stroke. Methods Forty two patients with acute stroke were assessed by use of SIAS, Brunnstrom movement assessment, Fugl Meyer movement assessment and Functional Independence Measure (FIM). The correlations among SIAS motor function item scores, Brunnstrom grades and Fugl Meyer scores and the correlation between SIAS total scores and FIM scores were studied. Results There were significantly positive correlations among SIAS motor function item scores, Brunnstrom grades and Fugl Meyer scores ( r =0.7440-0.9426). A significantly positive correlation also existed between the SIAS total score and FIM score( r =0.9231). The intra class correlation within SIAS was significant( r =0.8892-0.9787). The regression equations could be made between SIAS motor function scores and Fugl Meyer scores, SIAS total scores and FIM scores. Conclusion SIAS is a valid instrument when it is used to assess the subjects with acute stroke.

AIM: To investigate the protective effects and mechanisms of Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction on the rats of cerebral ischemia. METHODS: Cerebral ischemia madel was established on the basis of cerebral thrombus and at the same time ligaturing bilateral carotid arteries.These models were used to observe the protective effects of Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction on contents of CGRP、ET、IL-1?,TNF? in rats′ cerebral ischemica. RESULTS: The results showed that Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction decreased the contents of IL-1?、TNF-?、 ET,and increased the contents of CGRP. CONCLUSION: Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction had effects on anti-cerebral ischemia.The protective effects of Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction are related to decreasing the contents of IL-1?,TNF-?,ET,and increasing the contents of CGRP.

This experiment aimed to explore and research the process of preparing baicalein and wogonin through liquid fermentation with Bacillus natto. Active enzymes of produced by B. natto was used for the biological transformation of baclin and wogonoside, in order to increase the content of the haicalein and wogonin in the scutellaria. With the content of the baicalein and wogonin as evaluating indexes, the effects of carbon source, nitrogen source, the types and suitable concentration of inorganic salt, medium pH, granularities of medical materials, liquid volume in flask, shaking speed, liquid-to-solid ratio, fermentation time on the fermentation process were studied. The optimal process conditions for liquid fermentation of scutellaria were 1.0% of peptone, 0.05% of NaCl, pH at 6, the granularities of medical materials of the scutellaria screened through 40-mesh sifter, 33% of liquid, shaker incubator speed at 200 r x min(-1), liquid-to-solid ratio of 5:1, temperature at 37 degrees C, fermentation for 6 days, baclin's conversion rate at 97.6% and wogonoside's conversion rate at 97% in the scutellaria. According to the verification test, the process was stable and feasible, and could provide data reference for the industrial production.

In order to reveal genetic diversity of domestic Andrographis paniculata and its impact on quality, genetic backgrounds of 103 samples from 7 provinces in China were analyzed using SRAP marker and SNP marker. Genetic structures of the A. paniculata populations were estimated with Powermarker V 3.25 and Mega 6.0 software, and polymorphic SNPs were identified with CodonCode Aligner software. The results showed that the genetic distances of domestic A. paniculata germplasm ranged from 0. 01 to 0.09, and no polymorphic SNPs were discovered in coding sequence fragments of ent-copalyl diphosphate synthase. A. paniculata germplasm from various regions in China had poor genetic diversity. This phenomenon was closely related to strict self-fertilization and earlier introduction from the same origin. Therefore, genetic background had little impact on variable qualities of A. paniculata in domestic market. Mutation breeding, polyploid breeding and molecular breeding were proposed as promising strategies in germplasm innovation.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the expressions and action mechanisms of nerve growth factor (NGF) receptors TrkA and p75NTR in the oncogenesis and progression of prostate cancer (PCa).

METHODSUsing immunohistochemistry, we detected the expressions of TrkA and p75NTR in 62 PCa and 35 benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) samples, and conducted statistical analysis on the basis of clinical data.

RESULTSIndependent-samples t-test showed that, along with poorer tissue differentiation or higher clinical stage of PCa, the expression of TrkA was significantly up-regulated, that of p75NTR remarkably down-regulated, and the expression ratio of TrkA to p75NTR markedly increased. The TrkA/p75NTR ratio was 0.32 in the BPH, 0.52 in the PCa tissue with Gleason score of 6, 1.65 in the PCa tissue with Gleason score of 7, 5.75 in the PCa tissue with Gleason score ≥ 8, 0.89 in the clinical stage of pT2, 1.5 in pT3 a, 3.75 in pT3b, and 7.00 in pTxN1.

CONCLUSIONThe abnormally increased expression ratio of TrkA to p75NTR might be one of the essential features of malignant transformation of prostate cells. A higher TrkA/p75NTR expression ratio may be associated with a lower tissue differentiation, a higher clinical stage or Gleason score, and therefore a poorer prognosis.

Objective· To investigate the association between neck circumference (NC) and cardiovascular risk factors among middle-aged and elderly people without diabetes in Jiading District in Shanghai.Methods· A cross-sectional study was conducted among 4 657 nondiabetic inhabitants aged 40 and above in Jiading District,Shanghai from August 2014 to July 2015.Clinical information collection,anthropometric measurements,and biochemical analyses were performed.The objects were divided into 4 groups according to the quartiles of NC in order to analyze association between NC and cardiovascular risk factors.Results· With increase of NC,the prevalences of abdominal obesity,insulin resistance,hypertension,and dyslipidemia all increased as well as waist circumference,body mass index (BMI),blood pressure,lipid profile,fast blood glucose,and HOMA-IR level (all Ptrend ＜0.01).Multiple Logistic regression analysis showed that individuals in Q2,Q3 and Q4 group had significantly higher risk of abdominal obesity,insulin resistance,hypertension,and dyslipidemia compared with those in Q1 group after age,sex,smoking,drinking,physical activity,BMI,waist circumference,systolic blood pressure,C-reactive protein,fast blood glucose,and lipid profile were corrected (all Ptrend ＜0.01).Conclusion· NC is positively and independently correlated with cardiovascular risk factors in middle-aged and elderly nondiabetic people in Jiading District in Shanghai.

·AIM: To analyze the clinical efficacy and safety of vitrectomy combined with cyclophotocoagulation in the treatment of traumatic glaucoma, and to provide an effective treatment for improving the quality of life of patients with traumatic glaucoma. ·METHODS:Totally 90 patients (90 eyes) with traumatic glaucoma admitted in our hospital from January 2011 to July 2016 were divided into two groups (45 patients in each group) according to different treatment methods. The patients in the observation group underwent vitrectomy combined with cyclophotocoagulation under direct vision; the control group underwent vitrectomy combined with trans-scleral cyclophotocoagulation. We observed the effect of different treatment on visual acuity, intraocular pressure and complication of the two groups. ·RESULTS: The visual acuity of the observation group was significantly better than that of the control group after treatment (Z=-5.689, P<0.05). There was no significant difference on intraocular pressure between the two groups before treatment (P>0. 05). The change of decreased intraocular pressure in the observation group was less than that in the contral group after operation (P<0.05). After 1a follow-up,there was no significant difference on the change of decreased intraocular pressure between the two groups (P>0. 05). The complications of the two groups after treatment were vitreous hemorrhage, choroidal detachment, low intraocular pressure, increased intraocular pressure and other complications, but the complication rate of two groups were no different (x2=1.553,P=0.213).· CONCLUSION: Vitrectomycombinedwith cyclophotocoagulation under direct vision brings patients better visual acuity than that combined with trans-scleral cyclophotocoagulation.

Objective To evaluate the associations between polymorphisms of LEPR Gln223Arg,LEPR Pro 1019Pro and the risk on obesity.Methods A computerized search on literature was carried out in Wanfang,CNKI,VIP databases and CBM,PubMed,EMBASE databases to collect articles published between 1979 and 2010 concerning the associations between polymorphisms of LEPR Gln223Arg and/or LEPR Pro 1019Pro and risk of obesity in the Chinese population.Odds ratios (ORs) were used to assess the strength of the association,and 95％ confidence intervals (CIs) to present the precision of the estimates.Meta-analysis was performed using the STATA statistical software.Results Fifteen literature were collected for Meta-analysis by the uniform inclusion and exclusion criteria.There were 1096 obese patients and 949 controls for polymorphisms of LEPR Gln223Arg in 9 papers,together with 961 obese patients and 818 controls for polymorphisms of LEPR Prol019Pro in 8 papers.Overall,there were significant associations between decreased risk of obesity and LEPR Gln223Arg polymorphisms (-668 A→G) (G versus A,OR=0.66,95％CI:0.49-0.89; AG and GG versus AA,OR=0.50,95％CI:0.32-0.77; respectively).There were significant associations between increased risk of obesity and LEPR Prol019Pro polymorphisms (-3057 G→A) (A versus G,OR=1.61,95％CI:1.15-2.26; AG and AA versus GG,OR=1.50,95％CI:1.08-2.08; respectively).Conclusion Variant alleles at both LEPR-668 and LEPR-3057 were associated with obesity in the Chinese Han-dominated population.
