Objective To investigate the remission rate of the therapy of integrated TCM into intensive insulin treatment, and the relationship between each factor and the remission rate. The effect of TCM on improving ?-cell fimction and remission rate was also studied. Methods Forty-seven newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients were shortly treated with both continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) and Chinese medicine. The remission rate was observed. The relationship between each factor and remission was analyzed by logistic regression. The ?-cell function of patients in remission group were evluated at the end of the treatment and during the period of follow-up. Results After treatment of (11.8?2.5)d, BMI and the ratio of the days of blood glucose reaching the standard and the total treatment days were the mainly factors affecting the remission. The remission rate at the end of treatment, one month after treatment and follow-up period (about six month) was 46.8%, 55.3%, 53.3% respectively. In following up, the remission rate in the Chinese medicine group and the control group was 66.7%, 44.4% respectively. Conclusions About half of newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic patients obtain clinical remission after the short-term intensive treatment of integrated insulin and Chinese medicine. Chinese medicine may have positive impaction on remission and extending honeymoon period.

Acta Pharmaceutica Sinica 2015;50(2):227-232
With homology cloning approaches coupling with RACE (rapid-amplification of cDNA ends) techniques, the full-length coding sequence of pathogenesis-related protein PR10-1 with differential expression was cloned from the total RNA of the root of Panax notoginseng, and its function was explored furtherly. As a result, the longest 465 bp ORF (named as PnPR10-1 with the Accession No. KJ741402 in GenBank) was detected from the cloned sequence with full-length of cDNA of 863 bp. The corresponding peptide encoded consisted of 155 amino acids, contained some domains such as Bet-v-I, and showed high similarity with that from Panax ginseng by analysis of phylogenetic trees created from the alignments. Real-time quantitative PCR showed that the expression of PnPR10-1 gene was constitutive in different tissues of 1-3 year old plant, suggesting that it might be involved in growth, development, and secondary metabolism; yet it was up-regulated significantly with the infection of Fusarium oxysporum in root, suggesting that it might be involved in defense against many diseases including root rot in P. notoginseng.

BACKGROUND:Recent studies have shown that the large-dose regular insulin therapy used to control blood glucose levels can cause 50%of patients suffering from vascular, optic nerve and kidney complications. Previous results from authors exhibit that when al ogeneic hematopoietic stem celltransplantation is applied for treatment of leukemia, diabetic symptoms in patients disappear. Dose it prompt that al ogeneic hematopoietic stem celltransplantation is an effective therapy for treatment of diabetes mel itus? OBJECTIVE:To explore the feasibility of hematopoietic stem celltransplantation for treatment of diabetes mel itus. METHODS:A retrospective analysis was done regarding the data of patients with hematological diseases complicated with diabetes mel itus who underwent al ogenetic hematopoietic stem celltransplantation. Four patients with acute lymphocyte leukemia, chronic myelogenous leukemia, aplastic anemia, and myolodysplastic syndromes, respectively, were complicated with diabetes mel itus. Conditioning regimen was cyclophosphamide+total body irradiation protocol. Cyclosporin A and short-term methotrexate were used for graft-versus-host disease prophylaxis. Blood glucose was control ed by oral hypoglycemic drugs or insulin injections before transplantation. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Al the four patients were successful y engrafted. Fasting glucose level of the four patients recovered at 4-6 months after hematopoietic stem celltransplantation (without hypoglycemic drugs). One patient died of leukemia relapse after 12 months of hematopoietic stem celltransplantation. The other three patients had disease-free survival until the time of fol ow-up.

West China Journal of Stomatology 2009;27(4):401-404
OBJECTIVETo investigate the color stability and opacity of seven resin-based composite products after ultraviolet irradiation.
METHODSSeven kinds of light-cured resin-based composite products (Aelite Flo, Filtek Z350 Flowable, Clearfil AP-X, Dyract AP, Z100, Durafill VS, Filtek Z350 Universal) were tested in the study (five for each group). Changes in color and opacity of test samples were determined before and after 8, 16 and 24 h ultraviolet irradiation using the CIE 1976 L*a*b* system and CIE 1931 XYZ system by a colorimeter.
RESULTSThe color of resin disks suffering ultraviolet irradiation was different in different irradiating time. Color difference values ranged from 1.85-3.21 for 8 h ultraviolet irradiation to 2.88-4.55 for 24 h ultraviolet irradiation. Opacity values ranged from 0.75-0.82 before ultraviolet irradiation to 0.80-0.98 after 24 h ultraviolet irradiation. Among all the groups, Z100 and Filtek Z350 Flowable showed the biggest color change, while Filtek Z350 Universal showed the highest opacity.
CONCLUSIONIt can be concluded that for some products, ultraviolet irradiation leads to color instability and opacity variation.
