Chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and asthma is a common clinical refractory airway disease. Comprehensive treatment of nasal endoscopic surgery including nasal endoscopic surgery and medication, which can significantly improve nose-pulmonary symptoms and make sinusitis and asthma easier to be controlled by medication, has certain superiority. But the existence of disease heterogeneity of CRSwNP with asthma causes different reactions to the current treatment, which manifests as parts of polyps and asthma easy to recur and difficult to control. According to the research recently, the study of the heterogeneity of airway diseases, for example endotype, is a hot area of research. Endotype is a subtype of a condition, which is defined by a distinct functional or pathobiological mechanism. This is distinct from a phenotype, which is any observable characteristic or trait of a disease. Different Inflammatory subtypes often represent different pathophysiology and even different pathogenesis. The concept of inflammatory subtypes of airway diseases provides a new perspective for studies of airway diseases of endotype and the mechanism of combined airway diseases. This review summarizes recent advances in the clinical characterization and treatment of the CRSwNP with asthma. On this basis, we analyze and summarize the heterogeneity of CRSwNP and asthma separately from the perspective of inflammatory subtypes. Then according to the concept of the combined airway diseases and the common pathogenesis, we put forward the definition of inflammatory subtypes of the CRSwNP with asthma and preliminarily discuss the method of the definition.

Specific antibodies purified from sera of rabbit infected with Toxoplasma gondii were used to immun-oscreen the 12-mer and 7-mer phage random peptide libraries. By 3 rounds of screening, 70 clones were picked out ra-ndomly to test the specificity and 43 were found positive by ELISA. 23 of the 43 positive clones showing strong reaction in ELISA were picked out for sequencing. Clone A7 was selected as mimic antigen in ELISA test after analysis of the 23 short peptide sequences. 23 out of 47 sera from rabbits infected with Toxoplasma gondii were ELISA positive by A7 mimic antigen with a positive rate of 68.1%, and 10 of 155 sera from healthy persons showed false positive with a sp-ecificity of 93.5%. The primary result suggests that mimic antigen may have a potential use in diagnose of toxoplasmosis.

Objective: To study the effects of herbimycin A on proliferation and NO production stimulated by IL 1 in chondrocytes. Methods: IL 1 alone or in combination with herbimycin A was administered.Chondrocytes proliferation was detected by crystal violet dying method and NO production was detected by Griess method. Results: IL 1 inhibited chondrocytes proliferation. Herbimycin A dose dependently reversed the effect. Also herbimycin A could inhibit NO production induced by IL 1. Conclusion: The reversing effect of herbimycin A on chondrocytes proliferation may be mediated by NO.

Hydrocortisone-induced yang-deficiency animal model has now become the generally accepted model of yang deficiency. However, assessing the most appropriate dose of hydrocortisone is a long-term challenge. For analyzing the modeling dose, the authors have built several kinds of yang-deficiency models induced by hydrocortisone at different doses, and analyzed the experimental data with various mathematical statistical methods. In order to discuss the effects of the modeling dose on the basis of previous research, the authors introduced Ridit analysis.

Objective:To investigate the cytokine profile expressed by CIK cells. Methods:CIK cells were induced from peripheral blood mononuclear cells in the presence of IFN-?,IL-1?,IL-2 and mAb against CD3. The phenotype and characterization of CIK cells were identified by flow cytometric analysis.Cytokine expression profiles were determined at mRNA level by semi-quantitative RT-PCR.Results:The percentage of CD3~+CD56~+ positive cells reached up to or higher than 50%.CIK cells couldn't express IFN-?、IFN-? and IFN-? under this kind of condition. But they could express IFNs principally on day 10 to 20. The level of ILs went down after steadily expressed on day 6 to 10(or 20).TNF-? and TRAIL constitutively expressed during the culture period in vitro. TNF-? maintained high expression on day 20.TGF-?_1 mainly expressed on day 30.Conclusion:CIK cells can widely express various kinds of cytokines in vitro.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 1986;0(02):-
AIM: To examine the effect of protamine sulfate, lipopolysaccharide(LPS),tumor necrosis factor(TNF), epidermal growth factor(EGF) and " Bushen Huoxue Xiezhuo" (BHX) decoction on the proliferation of extracorporeal cultured rat glomerular epithelial cells (GEC). METHODS: Their action on the proliferation of rat GEC were investigated using the -TdR incorporation. Meanwhile, the serum of rats treated with BHX decoction was extracted pharmacologically and its effects on the growth of GEC were also studied. RESULTS: LPS, protamine sulfate, TNF-? and EGF could significantly inhibit the -TdR incorporation of GEC in a dose- and time-dependent manner. However, this inhibition could be efficiently reversed by the serum containing BHX decoction. CONCLUSION: GEC is one of the main target cells on which BHX decoction act, and the protection on GEC might be one of the mechanisms underlying the role of BHX decoction in preventing the progression of nephrosis.
