We reviewed surgical specimens from 11 patients with diffuse neurofibroma to define the specific clinicopathologic characteristics. Ten cases were cutaneous neurofibromas and one case was an uncommon gastrointestinal neurofibroma involving the rectum. The most frequent sites of involvement were the head and neck, especially the eyelids and the periorbital areas. They usually presented as a plaque-like elevation of the skin. They primarily occured in children and young adults and positive family histories of von Recklinghausen's neurofibromatosis were obtained in 45.4%. Pathologically, the involved skin & rectum were diffusely thickened by an infiltrative growing mass, showing proliferation of short fusiform cells in the uniform matrix of fine fibrillary collagen. The characteristic prominence of Wagner-Meissner bodies (45.4%) suggests they could be associated with pathogenesis of diffuse neurofibroma. On the basis of these findings, we could confirm diffuse neurofibroma to be a distinct form of neurofibroma.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2007;18(4):562-571
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to develop a health education program on the health promoting behavior and self-efficacy in university students and evaluate its effects. METHOD: A nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used. The subjects were 148 students [experimental(N=80) and control(N=68) groups] from a university in J City. The experimental group members participated in thirteen sessions of a health education program for fifteen weeks and the degree of their health promoting behavior and self efficacy was evaluated. The instruments for this study were the health promoting lifestyle profile developed by Walker et al.(1987) and self-efficacy scale developed by Sherer & Maddux(1982). Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, Chi-square tests, t-tests, and paired t-test using SPSS 10.0. RESULT: The experimental group had a significantly higher health promoting behavior score(F=10.389, p=.002) than the control group, while no significant difference was found in the self-efficacy score(F=.481, p=.489). CONCLUSION: The results suggest that the health education program can be utilized as an effective program to promote health promoting behavior in university students.

3.A Predictive Model on North Korean Refugees' Adaptation to South Korean Society: Resilience in Response to Psychological Trauma.
Asian Nursing Research 2016;10(2):164-172
PURPOSE: This study investigated prediction of North Korean refugees' adaptation to the South Korean society and verified the goodness of fit between a hypothetical model and actual data in order to suggest the best model. METHODS: This survey was conducted with 445 North Korean refugees living in a metropolitan area. Data were collected from September 1st to November 20th, 2012, and analyzed using SPSS Windows 18.0 and AMOS 17.0. RESULTS: Traumatic experiences of North Korean refugees increased self-efficacy and psychological trauma. Acculturation stress decreased self-efficacy and increased passive coping. Self-efficacy affected active and passive coping, decreased psychological trauma, and increased resilience. Resilience is successful adaptation and refers to North Korean refugees' abilities to adapt effectively to stress. In particular, self-efficacy as the main parameter affecting resilience was confirmed. CONCLUSIONS: The results suggest that resilience can be improved through self-efficacy. It was the most significant factor decreasing psychological trauma and increasing resilience. Therefore, we need to develop programs for self-efficacy. The results also provide basic data for policy making for North Korean refugees.

Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2008;19(3):358-367
PURPOSE: This study was to evaluate the effects of a smoking prevention program among preschool children. METHOD: This study used a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design. The participants were 141 preschool children aged 6 or 7 at two childcare centers in Jecheon City, who were divided into an experimental group (n=66) and a control group (n=75). The smoking prevention program was applied through 9 sessions and 30 minutes per session. Surveys were conducted before and after the smoking prevention program to examine the preschoolers' knowledge and attitude toward smoking and smoking coping behavior. RESULTS: There were significant differences between the experimental group and the control group in smoking knowledge (t=-2.02, p=.044) and smoking coping behavior (t=-2.01, p=.047), but smoking attitude (t=-1.20, p=.230) was not statistically significantly different between the two groups. CONCLUSION: As a result, further research is needed into the long term effects of a smoking prevention program on the future behavior of preschoolers so that the health benefits of early prevention can be quantified. It is necessary for parents to participate actively in influencing preschoolers' attitudes and behaviors with regard to the avoidance of smoking.

5.The Use of the Omental Pedicle Graft in the Repair and Reconstruction of the Urinary Tract.
Korean Journal of Urology 1989;30(6):917-923
The omentum is unique in that it is the body tissue specially developed for the resolution of local inflammatory processes because of combination of its blood supply and abundant lymphatic drainage. So, the use of omental pedicle graft is well established for the more complex repairs and reconstruction of the urinary tract. From March, 1982 to February, 1988, we have experienced twelve cases of the urinary tract repairs or reconstruction using omental pedicle graft, which include six cases of multiple renal laceration, two cases of renal staghorn calculi and four cases of complicated vesicovaginal fistula and the result were excellent.

Journal of Korean Academy of Nursing 2012;42(5):738-748
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to develop and evaluate a coping scale for families of patients with schizophrenia(CSFPS). METHODS: Item construction was derived from literature reviews and interviews with family members and psychiatric nurses. Content validity was tested by experts. Each item was scored on a four-point Likert scale. The preliminary questionnaire was administered to 188 family members of patients with schizophrenia. The data were analyzed using item analysis, factor analysis, Pearson correlation coefficients, and Cronbach's alpha. RESULTS: From the factor analysis, 32 items in five factors were derived. The factors were named active coping strategies, avoidance coping strategies, hospital treatment-oriented coping strategies, emotional coping strategies, and suppressive coping strategies for problematic behaviors. The five factors explained 49.7% of the total variance, Cronbach's alpha of the total items was .83 and the factors ranged from .66 to .86. CONCLUSION: The results of this study suggest that CSFPS is a reliable and valid instrument to measure coping in families of patients with schizophrenia.

Korean Journal of Urology 1991;32(1):125-128
Hydroceles presenting in ten patients were treated by aspiration and injection of 2.5% phenol solution. In five patients, single treatment was sufficient, while four patients required two repeat treatments and one patient had three injection. Nevertheless all patients were satisfied. During injection and follow-up period, notable complication or side effect was not developed. As a result. we reported that sclerotherapy with 2.5% phenol for hydroceles is a highly effective, painless. safe and economical procedure and an attractive alternative to an operation particularly in elderly patient that hopes to avoid an operation, anesthesia and hospitalization.

Byung Jin LEE ; Min Woo SO ; Young Kyung PARK
Korean Journal of Urology 1991;32(4):694-696
Eosinophilic cystitis is an uncommon inflammatory process seen in children and adult which was recognized in 1960. The disease is similar to interstitial cystitis. tuberculosis and bladder neoplasms in the clinical manifestations and should be differentiated from them. We herein report a case of eosinophilic cystitis in a 60-year-old woman which was confused. with bladder carcinoma with brief review of the literatures.
