Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2016;22(3):117-127
PURPOSE: The purpose of the study was to identify degrees of parenting stress, parenting efficacy, parenting behavior and parental satisfaction, and to identify factors influencing parenting satisfaction of mothers who had preschool children. METHODS: The research participants were 176 mothers. All of mothers had preschool children, aged 2 to 6 years old, and attended one of 3 day care centers or 2 Kindergartens located in J city. Data were collected by convenience sampling using self-report questionnaires which contained items on general characteristics, parenting stress, parenting efficacy, parenting behavior, and parenting satisfaction. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, correlation, and multiple regression. RESULTS: The average level of parenting satisfaction of mothers with preschool children was 5.38±0.79. Positive parenting behavior and affective parenting efficacy were verified factors influencing parental satisfaction. These factors accounted for 41.4% of parental satisfaction. CONCLUSION: The results indicate that positive parenting behavior and affective parenting efficacy have the biggest impact on parental satisfaction. The results of this study provide the basic data for the development of parental education program aimed at improving parental satisfaction of mothers who have preschool children.

Korean Journal of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition 2004;7(2):143-152
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to detect viral coproantigens in children who were hospitalized with acute diarrhea and to compare its association with clinical symptoms. METHODS: Seventy-four stool samples were collected from children admitted to Ewha Mokdong Hospital from March 1996 to December 1999. The samples were frozen and analyzed for rotavirus, adenovirus, enterovirus, astrovirus, and calicivirus by enzyme immunoassay (EIA) with monoclonal antibody. 53 stool samples were collected from patients with diarrhea (diarrheal group) and 21 stool samples from patients hospitalized for reasons other than diarrhea (control group). Clinical features and laboratory findings were reviewed in both groups. RESULTS: Among 74 stool samples, virus antigens were detected in 60 samples. Of the 60 virus-positive stool samples, 47 enterovirus, 26 rotavirus, 16 adenovirus, 11 astrovirus, and 11 calicivirus antigens were detected by EIA. Of the 60 virus-positive stool samples, 28 samples have one viral antigen, 30 samples have 2 or more viral antigens, and 2 samples showed a simultaneous infection of Salmonella group B and enterovirus. There was no relationship between the detected virus and clinical features. CONCLUSION: In this study, viral coproantigen and clinical symptoms were not associated. In the future, further larger scale studies are necessary.

A 62-year-old woman without vascular risk factors presented with left-sided weakness and numbness.
Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) brain depicted acute right hemispheric infarcts in the cortical and
subcortical white matter. Initial MR angiography (MRA) showed large thrombus at the right carotid
bifurcation. Valvular atrial fibrillation (vAF) with severe tricuspid regurgitation (TR) was found on
two-dimensional echocardiography. Serial follow-up computed tomography angiography (CTA) or
MRA at 3, 9, and 15 days after anticoagulation alone showed complete resolution of the thrombus
with no neurological deterioration. Our case suggests that prompt institution of anticoagulantion alone
may result in radiologic resolution of the thrombus with improvement in patient’s clinical status.

Journal of Korean Academic Society of Nursing Education 2019;25(2):238-250
PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between sexual knowledge, attitude, and satisfaction of sex education in university freshman. METHODS: The participants were 275 freshman students under the age of 20 years old. Data were collected in 2017 using a self-report questionnaire. RESULTS: The average scores of participants' sexual knowledge, attitude, and satisfaction of sex education were 24.22±4.94 out of 38 points, 90.81±15.86 out of 168 points, and 11.05±3.08 out of 20 points, respectively. With respect to the demographic characteristics, there were statically significant differences in sexual knowledge according to chances of relationship engagement (F=6.19, p=.002) and residence type (F=3.67, p=.013). Both sexual attitudes and satisfaction of sex education showed significant differences by major (t=3.20, p=.002; t=2.65, p=.009), types of high school (F=3.39, p=.019; F=3.53, p=.015), and interest in previous sex education during teenage years (F=2.88, p=.015; F=6.22, p<.001). Sexual knowledge showed a statistically significant correlation with attitudes (r=.153, p=.011). CONCLUSION: There is insufficient sex information available for college students. It is necessary in the future to develop sex education programs that are matched to college students' needs.

Korean Journal of Women Health Nursing 2015;21(4):332-341
PURPOSE: Advanced aged pregnancy may be related with health problems so that more aggressive health care is necessary for these women. This study aimed to provide the basic data for developing nursing intervention programs to enhance the health of pregnant women and their new-born babies and by identifying the advanced aged women's need for pregnancy and childbirth. METHODS: It is the cross-sectional descriptive study to identify the advanced aged women's need on pregnancy and childbirth. Subjects were pregnant women 35 years or older and postpartum women. Total number of subjects was 95. Measurement tool is self-reporting survey that consisted of 67 items with four-point Likert scale, which was completed during October to November 2014. RESULTS: Average score was 3.44 out of maximum 4 on the care need on pregnancy and childbirth. Average scores according to category were as follows: baby rearing and parental role, 3.55; preconception care, 3.49; delivery care, 3.47; postpartum care 3.42; and prenatal pregnancy, 3.39. The degree of needs on pregnancy and childbirth was different according to delivery experience (t=-2.49, p=.014). CONCLUSION: Prenatal and postpartum nursing interventions were completed regardless of pregnant women's age until now; however, new nursing intervention programs are necessary to prevent the risk of advanced aged pregnancy, to provide the preconception care, and to increase the infant care and family support.

8.A Mitochondrial Mutation in Leber's Hereditary Optic Neuropathy.
Jeong Min HWANG ; Hye Won PARK
Journal of the Korean Ophthalmological Society 1995;36(12):2218-2224
Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy is caused by a single nucleotide change in the mitochondrial deoxynucleic acid(mtDNA). We identified a single guanine to adenine transition mutation in the mitochondrial DNA at nucleotide position 11778(Wallace mutation)in a 13 year old boy. To our knowldge, this is the first report confirming mtDNA mutation in Korea. This would be very helpful for the correct diagnosis of optic neuritis, optic neuropathy and optic atrophy of unknown etiology as well as for genetic counselling in the future.

Annals of Dermatology 2003;15(3):116-118
Erythema multiforme is a self-limited, usually mild and relapsing exanthematic intolerance reaction of the skin that is etiologically most often related to recurrent herpes simplex virus infection. Until now, despite its increasing incidence, varicella zoster virus has rarely been considered as an etiologic agent. We herein report a case of erythema multiforme following herpes zoster. A 52-year-old man complained of multiple targetoid lesions with central bullae which developed 1 day ago and were progressively spreading to his whole body. He had suffered from the thoracic herpes zoster along the right T11-, and T12-dermatomes for 10 days. He had no history of HSV infection. He had been intermittently taking analgesics such as acetaminophen for 1 year because of low back pain, but had no history of drug eruption due to analgesics. Histopathologic examination showed subepidermal bulla with necrotic keratinocytes and vacuolization of the basal layer. Based on the clinical morphology and the histopathologic findings, our case could be presumptively diagnosed as a bullous erythema multiforme following herpes zoster.

Annals of Dermatology 2003;15(3):113-115
We herein report a case of occupational contact urticaria syndrome induced by cefotiam di-hydrochloride in a nurse. She had generalized pruritic wheals accompanied by palpitations and tachypnea during the preparation of cefotiam solution. A scratch patch test with cefotiam di-hydrochloride, a major component of cefotiam ingredient showed multiple erythema and wheals within 5 minutes, accompanied by palpitations and tachypnea. No delayed type reaction was observed. Based on her clinical history and scratch test result, we diagnosed her condition as contact urticaria syndrome caused by cefotiam.
