Objective To provide the basis for early detection and treatment of precancerous lesions of gastric carcinoma, and reference for early discovery, diagnoses and treatment of gastric cancer, by examining the differences of expression of Helicobaeter pylori (Hp), both in the gastric mueosa and in blood serum, between precancerous lesions of gastric carcinoma patients and gastric cancer patients. Methods Used immunechromatographic method and protein chip system to determine the expression of Hp in blood serum and used immunohistochemistry to detect the expression of Hp in gastric mucosa. The patients had been diagnosed by pathological methods, 170 patients with precancerous lesions of gastric carcinoma, 111 patients with gastric carcinoma and 31 patients with superficial gastritis. Results The expression of Hp was detected on every stage of precancerous lesions and gastric carcinoma. Compared with the detection rates of Hp, precancerous lesions of gastric carcinoma was higher than gastric carcinoma and superficial gastritis, superficial gastritis was the lowest. The differences of the three were significant (P<0.01). The detection rate of Hp in the gastric mueosa (86.2%, 66.7%, 38.7%, respectively)was obviously higher than in blood serum (80.6%, 52.3%, 32.3%, respectively). Conclusions Hp participates in the process of the precancerous lesions and gastric carcinoma. The expression of Hp both in the gastric mueosa and in the blood serum could be one of the indexes, which might report the process and curative effect of precancerous lesions. With such advantages as simple and applicability, the detection of Hp in the blood serum could be used widely. The endoscopy and the detection of Hp in the gastric mucosa are suggested for patients with Hp positive in the blood serum.

Objective To investigate the possible mechanism of the gap junctional influence on the change in permeability of the blood-brain barrier(BBB)after reperfusion subsequent to cerebral ischemia. Methods In the test laser scanning confocal microscope(LSCM)was used to investigate the change of Cx43 levels and distribution. The MCAO/R model was induced using intraluminal suture technique first described by Longa with a little modification.A total of 60 Wistar rats were divided into 4 groups:the sham-operation group, control group,octanol-treatment group and DMSO vehicle control group. Control group were further divided into seven subgroups at different time points of reperfusion after middle cerebral artery occlusion. To observe the change in permeability of BBB,Evans blue(EB)in the brain tissue was surveyed by the means of EB fluorescent quantitation.Octanol-treatment group and DMSO vehicle control group were done at the point of the peak of permeability of BBB.Octanol, the specific blocker for gap junctions(GJ)was used in an intervention study. To compare the amount of EB with the same point of groups, the influence of octanol on BBB permeability was investigated. Results At 3 h of reperfusion after cerebral ischemia for 2 h,the permeability of BBB began to increase, reached the peak at 24 h of reperfusion and was still elevated at 72 h.The Cx43 expression formed into bigger plague and remained linear disposition in the penumbra after reperfusion subsequent to cerebral ischemia.Octanol group was done at 24 h of reperfusion after cerebral ischemia. The amount of EB of octanol group((4.924?0.296)?g/g)was significantly lower than that of corresponding operation control group(5.543?0.506)?g/g.Conclusions (1)Cx43 expression is concentrated around vessels in brain. The Cx43 forms into bigger plague and the function maybe strengthens after reperfusion.Gap junction might aggravate the disruption of BBB.(2) Octanol, the specific blocker of gap junctions, could effectively prevent the permeability of BBB from increasing and has a protective effect on BBB.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2014;34(3):387-92
A surgical technique of lateral crus strut graft to correct the deformity of nostril contour and improve asymmetric nostril shape by autologous rib cartilage was reported. Thirty-five patients (20 males and 15 females), with a mean age of 19 years (range of 16-26 years) were included in this study. All of the patients suffered moderate to severe unilateral cleft lip nostril deformity and underwent surgical technique of lateral crus strut graft by autologous rib cartilage to correct the asymmetric nostril contour from 2010 to 2012. The views of the nostril contour on both sides were reviewed and some parameters were measured at different time points (preoperatively, and 3 months and one year postoperatively) including the long axis and short axis of the nostrils. The differences in nostrils including long axis, short axis, elliptical area and eccentricity on the both sides were compared at different time points. The differences in the long axis and eccentricity of the nostrils on the two sides were decreased significantly between the preoperative view and postoperative view (P<0.05). The surgical technique of lateral crus graft with autologous rib cartilage is effective to correct the abnormal nostril contour and improve the asymmetry for unilateral cleft clip patients.

AlM: To investigate the effect of endocapsular phacoemulsification cataract extraction and intraocular lens (lOL) implantation with a 1. 8mm or 3. 0mm clear corneal incision on total root mean square ( RMS ) value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film.
METHODS:ln a prospective study, 156 age- related patients ( 196 eyes ) were randomly distributed into two groups. 1. 8mm-group comprised 94 eyes that had a silicone lOL inserted through a 1. 8mm sutureless clear corneal incision, while, 3. 0mm- group comprised 102 eyes through a 3. 0mm clear corneal incision. Postoperatively, the changes in the total RMS value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film at 1wk, 1 and 3mo were determined respectively.
RESULTS:ln both groups, postoperatively at 1wk,there were statistically significant differences ( P<0. 05 ) in the total RMS value of the cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film, while, there were statistically minimal differences ( P< 0. 05 ) between 1. 8mm-group and 3. 0mm-group at 1mo, but were not statistically significantly different ( P > 0. 05 ) between two groups at 3mo postoperative.
CONCLUSlON:This study confirms that incision size has strong impact on the corneal higher-order aberrations, especially, 3. 0mm incision caused significant differences in the total RMS value of cornea, corneal astigmatism, spherical aberration, coma, trefoil and tear film compared with 1. 8mm micro-incision, therefore, micro-incision is very beneficial for clinical use in phacoemulsification.

Chinese Journal of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation 2021;43(1):21-24
Objective:To explore the clinical and electrophysiological characteristics of flail arm syndrome (FAS).Methods:Clinical and electrophysiological data were collected on 13 FAS patients and 31 persons with upper limb onset amyotropic lateral sclerosis (UL-ALS), including the amplitude of compound muscle action potential (CMAP) related to median nerve, ulnar nerve, and axillary nerve motor conduction. A split-hand index (SI) was calculated by dividing the CMAP amplitude of abductor pollicis brevis by that of the abductor digiti minimi. Clinical features, the CMAP amplitudes and SIs were compared between the FAS and UL-ALS patients. Results:Compared with UL-ALS patients, the age at onset among the FAS patients was older (averaging 60.9 years). The development to the second stage was longer (24±6 months). The upper limb reflexes of 15% of the FAS patients had disappeared and those of 77% were weakened, while the lower limb reflexes of 54% of the FAS patients were active and 38% were weakened, significantly different from the UL-ALS patients. However, there were no significant differences in the CMAP amplitudes of the median and ulnar nerves, nor in SI between the FAS and UL-ALS patients. The SIs of the FAS patients with upper motor neuron signs were significantly lower than those of FAS patients without such signs. Among the FAS patients, the average CMAP amplitude of the ulnar nerve was the highest, followed by those of the median and axillary nerves. Among the UL-ALS patients, however, the average CMAP amplitude of the ulnar nerve was not significantly different from that of the axillary nerve. Conclusions:FAS patients with upper motor neuron signs are more likely to have slip hand. The CMAP amplitude of their axillary nerve tends to be lower than that of their median and ulnar nerves. FAS seems to be a special type of ALS.
