Objective To investigate the stigma in the public about the patients with depression and diabetes.Methods The stigma situation of the publics (workers,peasants,students,intellectuals and others,collect 300 respectively) were assessed for the patients with depression and diabetes with the Struening Belittle Scale.1500 questionnaires were distributed and 1421 effectual questionnaires were retrieved.Results ① A comprehensive compare of public stigma between depression and diabetes showed that about 89.0％ of the public with stigma and 11.0％ of the public without stigma for the patients with depression,about 32.0％ of the public with stigma and 68.0％ of the public without stigma for the patients with diabetes.There were significant differences in frequency of public stigma for two diseases (x2 =744.906,P ＜ 0.01).②There were significant differences in the total scores((52.8 ± 12.4) vs(32.4 ± 13.6),t =5.328,P ＜ 0.01) and subscale scores of the Stmening Belittle Scale (Patient Belittle Scale:(26.5 ± 8.6) vs (12.4 ± 5.6),t =3.276,P ＜ 0.01 ; Family Belittle Scale:(22.8 ±6.4) vs(9.4 ± 5.2),t =2.988,P＜ 0.01) of the public for the patients with depression and diabetes.Conclusion There is serious stigma in the public for patients with depression.It is more serious and extensive than that for patients with diabetes.

Objective To investigate the role of autophagy and synaptophysin (SYP) in cognitive impairment in de?pressed rats receiving electroconvulsive shock (ECS). Methods Clean and healthy adult male Sprague-Dawley rats were acclimatized to a standard laboratory environment for 7 days. The chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) was used to establish the rat model of depression. Behavior tests were conducted before and after CUMS to evaluate the depression and cognition level of rats. After establishment of the model, 24 rats were randomly divided into ESC group (group E) and depression group (group D) with 12 rats in each group. The rats in group E were administered 80 mg/kg of propofol (10 mg/mL) by intraperitoneal injection, followed by ECS treatment. The rats in group D were administered propofol by intra?peritoneal injection, followed by sham-ECS treatments. The above interventions were conducted daily for 7 consecutive days. After the interventions, rats underwent behavior tests as before. Subsequently, rats were killed and specimens were collected for measurements. Immunohistochemistry was performed to examine autophagy markers such as Beclin 1 and LC3Ⅱand ELISA was used to detect SYP in the hippocampus. Results Group E after ECS significantly increased the percentage of sucrose preference (68.2%±8.7%), rearing times (7.0±1.9), total horizontal distance [(569.5±70.0) cm], es? cape latency [(21.9±5.3)s] and space exploration time [(20.5±3.9)s] compared with group D or group E before ECS. There was no significant difference in these index between groups before ECS or in group E between before and after ECS(P>0.05). Compared with group D, group E had upregulated protein expression levels of Beclin 1 and LC3Ⅱin CA1, CA3, DG as well as the area near the hippocampus and increased SYP contents (P<0.05). Conclusions Cognitive impairment in depression rats following ECS correlates with activated autophagy and increased SYP by ECS.

BackgroundPterygia is a clinical common disease.A lot of surgical methods are developed to decrease the recurrence rate.Resent years,the application of fibrin glue is receiving more and more attention.Objective This study was to explore the effects of fibrin glue in decreasing inflammatory irritation and its mechanism. Methods Pterygia models were created in 12 clean rabbits by exsection of limbal tissue and topical administration of 1.25％ diluted hydrochloric acid,and then the conjunctival autograft surgery was performed in the experimental rabbits.The conjunctival flap was sutured in the left eyes,and the conjunctival wound was closed using fibrin glue in the right eyes.The operation duration for each group was documented and compared.The irritation sign was examined under the slit lamp in all the rabbits 1 week and 4 weeks respectively.The expressions of vascular endothelial growth factor (VFGF) and basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF) proteins in the conjunctiva tissue were detected by immunochemistry,and the expressions of VFGF mRNA and bFGF mRNA in the conjunctival tissue were determined by reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Results The operative duration was (21.3±0.2) minutes in suture group and( 10.1 ±0.1 )minutes in the fibrin glue group with a significant difference between two groups( t =102.242,P＜0.05 ).From 1 week through 4 weeks,the hyperemiain degree was obviously slight in fibrin glue group compared with suture group.Immunochemistry showed that VEGF and bFGF proteins were expressed mainly in the cytoplasm of conjunctival epithelium layer.The positive response intensity was weaker in the fibrin glue group than in suture group 1 week and 4 weeks after operation.RT-PCR revealed that the expression level of VEGF mRNA was significantly lower in fibrin glue group than in suture group,and the VEGF mRNA was gradually decreased with the time lapse ( Fgroup =174.443,P =0.000 ; Ftime =231.459,P =0.000 ).The similar outcomes were found in the expression of bFGF mRNA(Fgroup=41.727,P=0.000;Ftime=55.417,P=0.000). A surgical technique of lateral crus strut graft to correct the deformity of nostril contour and improve asymmetric nostril shape by autologous rib cartilage was reported. Thirty-five patients (20 males and 15 females), with a mean age of 19 years (range of 16-26 years) were included in this study. All of the patients suffered moderate to severe unilateral cleft lip nostril deformity and underwent surgical technique of lateral crus strut graft by autologous rib cartilage to correct the asymmetric nostril contour from 2010 to 2012. The views of the nostril contour on both sides were reviewed and some parameters were measured at different time points (preoperatively, and 3 months and one year postoperatively) including the long axis and short axis of the nostrils. The differences in nostrils including long axis, short axis, elliptical area and eccentricity on the both sides were compared at different time points. The differences in the long axis and eccentricity of the nostrils on the two sides were decreased significantly between the preoperative view and postoperative view (P<0.05). The surgical technique of lateral crus graft with autologous rib cartilage is effective to correct the abnormal nostril contour and improve the asymmetry for unilateral cleft clip patients.

Objective To investigate the different killing effect to human pulmonary adenocarcinoma cell line cells GLC-82 with coexpressed double suicide genes compared with single gene. Methods Recombinant expression vectors containing CD (cytosine deaminase) and/or TK(thymidine kinase) gene under CMV promoter were constructed successfully. The vectors were transfected to GLC-82 tumor cell lines by use of lipofectamine. The clones were picked out after G418 selection. Extraneous gene integration and expression were confirmed by PCR and semi-quantitative RT-PCR. The cytotoxicity to these transgenic cells under treatment with 5-Fc and GCV were measured by MT1 assays. Results Double and single suicide gene transfer were both stably expressed in GLC-82 cells . Twenty Newcastle disease virus(NDV)strains were isolated from diseased chicken and geese in field outbreaks during 2005 and 2006 in some regions of Jiangsu and Guangxi,and the antigenic analysis of the all NDV isolates had been done based on the reaction spectrum with a panel of monoclonal antibodies to the HN glycoprotein.The entire ORFs encoding HN protein of these NDV isolates were amplified by RT-PCR successfully,cloned and sequenced.The resultant sequences of HN genes of 13 isolates of chicken origin and 7 isolates of goose origin were gained and analyzed.The results of reaction spectrum showed that there were some distinct differences in the antigenic epitopes among the 20 NDV isolates.And the sequences revealed that the coding regions of the HN genes of these isolates all consisted of 1716 nt characteristic of virulent strains of NDV,coding for 571 amino acids.Neucleotides sequence homology were found to be from 94.8%to 100%among 18 NDV isolates of genotypeⅦ,and the neucleotides sequence homology between all the isolates and the other genotypeⅦstrains of recent years in China ranged from 92.1%to 99.6%.The deduced amino acid sequences and the receptor-binding regions of HN proteins between the NDV isolates of chicken origin and of goose origin were compared and analyzed.The results showed that some unique amino acid substitutions were found in the genome of the NDV isolates,and the close genetic similarity provided evidence for epidemiological linkage between the NDV isolates of chicken origin and of goose origin in the same period.
