Objective To assess the relationship between maternal plasma tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand ( TRAIL ) before 20 weeks′gestation and hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy (HDCP);and to evaluate the predictive value of plasma TRAIL for HDCP.Methods A 2-phase screening/validation study was designed. In the screening phase , a nested, case-controlled study was performed , the plasma samples collected before 20 weeks′gestation from 20 women who later developed HDCP and 20 age-and gestation week-matched controls were tested in prospective screening test for protein expression profiling during pregnancy and HDCP.Plasma samples were analyzed by a human protein microarray technology designed to detect 507 proteins simultaneously.Differently expressed proteins′functional annotation and clustering were performed by using of Database for Annotation , Visualization and Integrated Discovery ( DAVID) and Gene Ontology ( GO) database. The TRAIL level of plasma samples obtained before 20 weeks′gestation from 53 women who later developed HDCP and 106 similarly matched controls were further validated by ELISA and 62 clinical risk factors were investigated.Logistic regression and ROC analysis were used to evaluate the relationship between TRAIL and HDCP and its predictive value for HDCP.Results In protein microarray analysis , 23 proteins expressed differently before 20 weeks′gestation between the two groups.Further validation results showed that TRAIL levels in HDCP patients were lower significantly (45.7 ±13.1) pg/ml than those in healthy pregnant controls (51.2 ±14.7)pg/ml, P=0.021.Multiple factor logistic regression analysis of 159 pregnancies showed that three features were finally entering the logistic model, they were:anemia (OR=4.87, 95% CI 1.05-24.26), pre-pregnancy BMI (OR=1.72, 95% CI 1.35 -2.19) and TRAIL (OR=0.96, 95% CI 0.92 -0.99).The predictive accuracy of logistic model was 81.8%.The model significantly increases the predictive value (AUC=0.81, 95%CI 0.73-0.87) compared to TRAIL as independent predictor (AUC=0.59, 95%CI 0.51-0.67).Conclusions Totally 23 proteins were expressed differentially before 20 weeks′gestation in plasma of women who later developed HDCP , confirming that HDCP is a heterogeneous disease with different biological changes. The data suggests that plasma TRAIL levels relate with the development of HDCP and its combination with pre-pregnancy BMI and anemia have a high predictive value for HDCP before 20 weeks′gestation.

Objective To investigate the infection status in patients with vitiligo. Methods A total of 434 patients with vitiligo were collected eligible data by a uniform questionnaire.Anti-HEV IgG and anti-HEV IgM were detected by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA).The correlation between the positive rate of anti-HEV IgG and sex, age, duration and immunology in-dex were analyzed. Results Out of the 434 patients,26.26% of the total subjects were anti-HEV IgG positive. The positivity of anti-HEV IgG in adults and the progress of vitiligo patients was higher than that of teenagers and stabilization of vitiligo patients, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared to the normal cases of IgA,IgG,C4,the positivity of anti-HEV IgG was significantly higher in the abnormal cases, the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Those 10 cases who were anti-HEV IgM positive, were anti-HEV IgG positive also. Conclusion The infection status in patients with vitiligo is serious and effective prevention strategies are required in future for reducing HEV transmission in these patients in order to reduce the incidence.

Purpose:To explore the clinical features of benign prostate hypertrophy (BPH) with tuberculosis.Method:Retrospective analysis of 8 cases BPH with tuberculosis has been made.Results:6 cases underwent open surgery and 1 case was treated with antituberculosis therapy, and 1 cases was treated by TURP.6 cases were followed up for an average of 10.8 months. The therapeutic results were satisfactory. Conclusions:Clinically, BPH with tuberculosis was often mistaken for BPH or prostatic carcinoma, so attention should be paid to the differential diagnosis. The final diagnosis should rely on pathological examination.

Objective To investigate the values of tCho concentration in early assessment therapeutic response of tumor to neoadjuvant chemotherapy with 1HMR spectroscopy. Methods Twenty patients with breast cancer were recruited. All patients underwent biopsy before neoadjuvant chemotherapy and surgery after chemotherapy. The pathologic results before and after neoadjuvant chemotherapy were compared. The patients were divided into effective response group (R) and ineffective response group (IR). MRS acquisitions were performed within 1 week before chemotherapy and within 3 week after the first cycle of chemotherapy, respectively. The tCho concentration was calculated quantitatively using external standard method. The tCho concentrations before and after chemotherapy and the tumor sizes between R group and IR group were compared using t test and nonparametrie test. The values of tCho concentration in early assessment of the effectiveness of chemotherapy were analyzed by ROC. Results Of 20 cases, 16 were included in R group and 4 in IR group. In R group, significant differences of tCho concentration (t=5. 040, P < 0. 01 ) existed between before and after chemotherapy [ (4. 24 ± 3.09 ), ( 1.13 ± 1.14 ) mmol/L ], while not in I R group [ ( 3.72 ± 2. 69), ( 3.06 ± 2. 21 ) mmol/L, t = 1. 785, P > 0. 05 ]. The median sizes of tumor between R and IR group had no significant differences (0. 00,0. 00 cm, U = 23.00, W = 33.00, P = 0. 437). The area under ROC curve of tCho concentration was 0. 984. Conclusion With in vivo 1HMRS, the tChn concentration in breast cancer can serve as an indicator for predicting response to neoadjuvant chemotherapy with relatively high sensitivity and specificity.

This study aims to clarify out the anti-inflammatory mechanism of Qingfei Xiaoyan Wan. Chemical constituents of Qingfei Xiaoyan Wan identified by UPLC Q-TOF, were submit to Molinspiration, PharmMapper and KEGG bioinformatics softwares for predicting their absorption parameters, target proteins and related pathways respectively; and the gene chip and real time-PCR were carried out to investigate the expression of inflammatory genes on lung tissue of guinea pigs or human bronchial epithelial cell lines. The predicted results showed that 19 of the 24 absorbable constituents affected at 9 inflammation-related pathways through 11 protein targets; Qingfei Xiaoyan Wan treatment can significantly reduce the infiltration of cytokines through ERK1 gene and 5 inflammatory pathways (Focal adhesion, Fc epsilon RI, Toll-like receptors, NK cell-mediated cytotoxic, and ERK/MAPK). The results of real time-PCR further confirmed that the anti-inflammatory effects of Qingfei Xiaoyan Wan were due to active ingredients such as arctigenin, cholic acid and sinapic acid intervened focal adhesion, Fc epsilon RI signaling and ERK/MAPK pathways. The novel approach of 'drug-target-pathway' will present an effective strategy for the study of traditional Chinese medicines.

A bacillus strain was isolated from the dejecta of the Giant Panda " Xiangxiang" returned to wild, afforded by China Giant Panda Protection and Research Center, Wolong Sichuan. By primary research, the strain was identified as Serratia and called as Serratia JF-1116. The 16S rDNA gene of the bacteria strain, was amplified , cloned and sequenced. BLAST of the sequence in GenBank indicated that the species with close similarity to JF-1116 were from genus Enterobacter only. The phylogenetic tree was producted from 16S rDNA of JF-1116 and other 18 Enterobacter species with the high similarity. JF-1116 was clustered with 3 strains of Serratia.
