Chinese Journal of Dermatology 2009;42(3):175-177
Objective To assess the efficacy of high intensive narrow band blue light and red light combined with Cuochuangling granule,a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM),in acne vulgaris(AV).Methods Forty-two patients with mild to moderate AV were randomly divided into two groups.combination group(n=25)receiving photothempy with blue light and red light plus oral Cuochuangling granule,TCM group(n=17)treated with oral Cuochuangling granule alone.Cuochuangling granule was given thrice daily, and phototherapy was performed at a dose of 48 J/cm2 with a least interval of 48 hours. All patients were treated for 4 weeks. Before and after the treatment, sebum secretion level and water content in stratum corneum were measured by photometry and capacitance method, respectively, skin pH value was examined, and the number of lesions was counted. Results The total effective rate was 84%in the combination group, and 71%in TCM group.A significant increase was observed in the clearance rates of total lesions and inflammatory lesions in the combination group compared with the TCM group(both P<0.01).The water content in stratum corneum increased from 210.47 to 294.70(P<0.01)in the combination group, and the increase was greater than in the TCM group. No significant changes were noticed in the sebum secretion level or skin pH value alter the treatment in either group. Conclusions Phototherapy combined with Cuochuangling granule is highly effective in the treatment of mild to moderate acne, with an increase in the water content in stratum corneum after treatment.
2.Photochemical tissue bonding in tissue repair
Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2009;29(12):1407-1409
Suture was a traditional method for tissue repair. However, sutures used in the closure of surgical wounds can induce inflammation and lead to scarring that appears as crosshatch marks. Threads used for sutures may cause immune response and surgical infection. In this review, we introduce a novel sutureless technique for wound repair, called photochemical tissue bonding (PTB). Absorption of visible light by a photosensitizing dye initiates photochemical reactions leading to covalent protein-protein crosslinks that bridge the wound surfaces, thus producing an immediate seal between the wound surfaces. This technique has been applied in various tissues including skin, cornea, nerve, blood vessels, et al. PTB reduces inflammation resulting in less scarring in skin. PTB dramatically improves the incidences of vascular anastomotic leakage and stricture. In addition, PTB enhances the recovery of nerve function after nerve repair.
3.Progress in Research on Guanylyl Cyclase C in Diagnosis and Treatment of Colorectal Cancer
Chinese Journal of Gastroenterology 2016;21(10):626-628
Guanylyl cyclase C( GCC)is a specific intestinal tissue polypeptide expressed in intestinal epithelial cells, and is also expressed in colorectal cancer cell line and primary and metastatic colorectal cancer. Studies have indicated that level of GCC mRNA in blood could contribute to the early detection of colorectal cancer metastasis and recurrence, and is beneficial to the formulation of therapeutic regimen and follow-up. This article reviewed the progress in research on GCC in diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer.
4.Relationship between high body mass index and irritable bowel syndrome in Chinese adolescents
Journal of Clinical Pediatrics 2015;(10):850-852
ObjectivesTo explore the impact of high body mass index (BMI) on irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) in Chinese adolescents.MethodsThe students were randomly selected from middle school and high school. They completed the epidemiological questionnaire of IBS and had their height, body mass measured.ResultsIn total, 1173 students were recruited, including 700 middle school students and 473 high school students. The incidence of overweight/obesity was 30.52%. The incidence of overweight/obesity was not significantly different between boys (28.40%) and girls (32.65%) (P=0.114), and there was not significantly different between students from middle school (30.57%) and high school (30.44%) (P=0.963). Two hundreds and twenty-one students suffered from IBS and the incidence of IBS was 18.84% with no significant gender difference. The incidence of IBS was significantly higher in students from middle school (13.43%) than those from high school (26.85%) (P<0.001). The incidence of IBS was not statistically significant be-tween overweight/obese students (22.07%) and normal weight students (17.42%) (P=0.061). The distribution of IBS subtypes had no statistical significance between overweight/obese and normal weight students (χ2=0.91,P=0.823). ConclusionsOverweight/obesity and IBS were extremely prevalent in Chinese adolescents, but the correlation be-tween them remains to be confirmed.
5.Correctly understanding the clinical value of optical coherence tomography angiography
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2016;34(12):1057-1060
OCT angiography (OCTA) is a non-invasive imaging technique for detecting blood flow information of the retina and choroid.Dye injection is not needed with OCTA,which is different from fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) and indocyanine green angiography (ICGA).OCTA is able to observe blood flow in different retinal and choroidal segmentation slab. This revolutionary breakthrough in OCTA algorithm provides more and more accurate blood flow informations in the diagnosis of ocular vessel diseases and the study on pathogenesis of some vessel-related eye diseases. However, like other biometric technology,OCTA has its limitations and shortcomings, for example,OCTA presents a smaller observational area than FFA and ICGA,and some factors affect the imaging quality and cause misdiagnosis during the examination and reading image.Fully understanding the principle of OCTA and its image features are helpful for eye doctors to better interpret the blood flow changes of retinal diseases, choroidal diseases, glaucoma and neuro-ophthalmic diseases.Ophthalmologists should correctly apply this imaging tool for a better monitoring and following up of these diseases.
